The year of the poor should make us conscious of the reality of poverty, suffering
and deprivation that may endure, and the reasons of the misery that engulfs a vast
number of the people.
Poverty is not just a matter of graphs and numbers.
There are individual people who suffer and whose human dignity is not being
respected.
65 million Filipinos are poor due to some unfortunate events in their lives and
surely, it is not due to their laziness and hardheadedness.
It is due to injustice- unjust systems that produce mass poverty.
