COURSE OBJECTIVES
Ability to explore, identify, analyse and narrate a management problem in the form of a case that can be
published and subsequently discussed in a classroom setting.

2. Who will evaluate i.e. a single faculty or a panel, internal or external jury?
Panel: The evaluation will be done by internal panel consisting for two faculty members

4. Pedagogy/Guidelines
a. Students are supposed to undergo regular interaction with their allotted faculty mentors, who
would guide the student to write the case and also maintain proper record for evaluation
purpose.
b. Students would explore through secondary data which can be in the form of news in news
papers or any other media related to company he is going to work in, competitors of the
company and that industry. This is to be done to get an insight of prevalent trend or something
like it in that industry so that students may get a rough idea of areas/challenges on which
some work related to that company can be done.

Areas/challenges explored by student are then to be discussed with official/s of the company
to decide on a specific area/challenge to work on.
Once the theme is decided, it should be bifurcated into subparts to be studied individually but
around that theme only.
Reasons that led to a specific management issue/problem are to be found out and should be
defined clearly with a detailed explanation.
Consequences faced due to an issue/problem are to be analysed and written in detail.
(Company might have lost considerable market share, customers, revenue etc in case of
marketing or attrition rate gone up, employee productivity gone down etc. in case HR issues
are being studied).
How competitors have reacted to issues/problems faced by company are to be analysed and
written in detail.
It should be followed by how company accessed the situation and solved
issues/problems/challenges through all or any of the following
Industry Appraisal
Competitors Analysis
SWOT Analysis
Porters Five Force Model
Consumer Survey

Or any other existing strategic management model or a model specifically designed to address
those issues/problems/challenges. Student should also write about the leader who handled
the situation or any strategic team made to find and solve the problem/s.
i. It should be followed by a change/s brought as a result of what company has done and effect
of that on company and industry in the long run.
j. Case should end with a dilemma or challenges ahead for that company.
k. In appendix there should be adequate no. of exhibits in the form of research reports, industry
profile, company standing etc. to help students solve the questions in teaching note.
l. Case should have a detailed teaching note with case objective, class setting and methodology
to teach that case. It should have few questions with detailed solution.
m. One hard copy of the report must be produced at the time of the presentation turn for
evaluation. The report must be duly signed by the faculty mentor.
n. As far as possible, student must get an NOC from the company to publish the case.
o. Student must send the work done to Faculty Mentor through an E-mail considering the
following time lines. Faculty mentor should send the suggestions and feedback to the students
for further improvement of the case within 3 days of receiving the e-mail:
