Here is a romantic little knit vest that is right in line with
this season's fashions. It features a longer, tunic length,
empire waist shape, and gorgeous mix of lace and cable
textures.
Thin 2-stitch cables accent the shaping. A beautiful
traveling vine lace stitch is used for the bodice and pretty
4-stitch cables make up the straps. A flattering squared
neckline will work well with blouses or slim-fitting long
sleeve tops. Velvet ribbon ties complete the look.
This is a great item to wear to work or just as an extra
layer on chillier days.

GAUGE
16 stitches = 4 and approx. 22 rows = 4 in St st on size 9 (5.5mm) needles.
PLEASE TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE

NOTES:

1) "k-inc" To increase into a knit stitch, knit the front of the stitch (as you normally
do), but before you let the stitch slip off of your left needle, knit into the back of that
same stitch. Now, allow the stitch to slip off of the left needle. This is also called
"knitting into the front and back of a stitch" to do an increase.
2) "m1" To increase by making 1, pick up the strand lying between the stitch just
knit and the next stitch (on your left needle) with your left needle tip from front to
back. Now, knit that picked up strand using the back side of the strand, as if to knit
the back of a stitch (this will twist the strand to prevent a hole).
3) "T2" (Twist 2) To twist 2 stitches, knit the next 2 stitches together, but do NOT
slip them off of your left needle. Insert your right needle tip between the 2 stitches
just knit and knit the first stitch again. Now let both stitches slip off of the left
needle.
4) "C4B" (Cable 4 back): slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in back of work,
knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
5) "C4F" (Cable 4 front): slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in front of work,
knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit 2 sts from cable needle.
