Bandwidth Allocation

The MA5600T supports both static bandwidth allocation (SBA) and dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA).

l

SBA guarantees that each ONT obtains a fixed bandwidth.

l

DBA guarantees that the bandwidth is dynamically allocated to the ONTs according to the change in user traffic.

l

SBA and DBA support a bandwidth control granularity of 64 kbit/s.

The MA5600T provides hierarchical bandwidth control in both the upstream and downstream directions.

High Rate

l

l

l

l

In the upstream direction, bandwidth is allocated to the users or the user groups in the SBA and DBA modes based on the transmission container (T-CONT).

In the upstream and downstream directions, accurate committed access rate (CAR) is performed based on the traffic stream.

The traffic stream CAR supports a 64 kbit/s bandwidth control accuracy.

The MA5600T adopts the passive optical transmission to resolve the bandwidth bottleneck of the access over the twisted pair cables.

SmartAX MA5600T Multi-service Access Module Product Description

1 Product Positioning and Features

The following are the reliability features of heat dissipation design of the MA5600T:

l

The heat dissipation system adopts a redundancy design, ensuring normal service operation when one fan is faulty.

l

The fans adopt air exhaust mode and support hot swapping.

l

The host software supports fan speed adjustment.

l

The fan tray provides the fault alarm interface of the optical coupling isolation digital parameter to report the fault information.

Networking Reliability Design

l

The MA5600T supports backup of uplinks in the following two ways:

Backup of uplinks in a board

Uplinks are from the same upstream interface board and work in the load sharing mode. If one of the links fails, the traffic stream on this uplink is transferred to the other normal uplink.

In this way, all uplinks mutually back up each other. However, when the upstream interface board fails, all the uplinks fail.

Backup of uplinks between boards

Uplinks are from different upstream interface boards and work in the load sharing mode. If one of the links fails, the traffic stream on this uplink is transferred to the other normal uplink.

In this way, all uplinks mutually back up each other. When an upstream interface board fails, the traffic stream on this board is transferred to the other upstream interface board.

l

The MA5600T supports the uplink protection.

When a service outage occurs because of the physical disconnection with the device at the upper layer, the MA5600T automatically transfers the traffic stream to the secondary link. Thus, the MA5600T recovers the service rapidly.

Protection of uplinks in a board

Uplinks start from the same upstream interface board and work in the non-load sharing mode. If one of the links fails, the traffic stream on this uplink is transferred to the other normal uplink.

In this way, all uplinks are protected. However, when the upstream interface board fails, all the uplinks fail.

Protection of uplinks between boards

Uplinks are links that start from different upstream interface boards and work in the non-load sharing mode. If one of the links fails, the traffic stream on this uplink is transferred to the other normal uplink.

In this way, all uplinks are protected. When an upstream interface board fails, the traffic stream on this board is transferred to the other upstream interface board.

1.2.8 Superior Maintainability and Manageability

The MA5600T provides complete management, maintenance, and monitoring functions that facilitate routine maintenance tasks and fault detection operations.

1 Product Positioning and Features

SmartAX MA5600T Multi-service Access Module Product Description

Various Maintenance Means

l

The MA5600T can be maintained remotely through the secure SSH command line or the Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) network management system. For remote maintenance, inband mode and outband mode are supported.

l

The MA5600T supports management based on SNMPv1, SNMPv2, and SNMPv3 through the iManager N2000 BMS Network Management System (hereafter referred to as the N2000 BMS).

l

The MA5600T supports Ethernet operation, administration, and maintenance (OAM) based on IEEE P802.1ag. This enables detection and diagnosis of faults in an Ethernet network, thus reducing the cost of the network maintenance.

l

The MA5600T supports the following:

In-service reporting of the hardware and software versions

Real-time in-service upgrading and loading of the board software and host software

Real-time in-service loading and management of software patches

l

The MA5600T supports the loopback function, which helps to quickly isolate the area where a network fault occurs, thus improving the fault diagnosis efficiency and reducing the maintenance costs. The following five loopback functions are supported:

OLT local external loopback

OLT remote internal loopback

ONT local external loopback

ONT local internal loopback

ONT remote external loopback

l

The MA5600T supports auto loading and upgrading for the environment monitoring board and the fan monitoring board, thus lowering the manpower input for engineering and maintenance.

Terminal Management

l

The MA5600T supports management of the ONTs based on the ONT Management and Control Interface (OMCI) protocol, including VLAN configuration and port attribute configuration of the ONTs.

The ONTs can be configured offline on the OLT, and the ONT configuration data can be saved on the OLT. In this way, when an ONT registers with the OLT, the configuration data of the ONT can be automatically restored. This facilitates the service provisioning.

l

The MA5600T supports the embedded operations channel (EOC) terminal management function for obtaining the directory information on the CPE side.

Abundant Management Interfaces

The N2000 BMS provides various southbound interfaces such as the Telnet and SNMP interfaces for NE management. In addition, it provides standardized SNMP and TL1 northbound interfaces for the OSS and the management system at the network layer to realize the management of alarms, topologies, services, resources and tests. In this way, the N2000 BMS enables the carriers to build an integrated and automated OSS platform at the network layer.

Security Authentication Management

The N2000 BMS provides sufficient authentication management modes, thus meeting different operation and maintenance requirements. When a user performs an operation, the system restricts

SmartAX MA5600T Multi-service Access Module Product Description

1 Product Positioning and Features

this operation according to the rights to the devices, and then according to the rights to the operations. After a user passes the authentication and logs in, the menus for the unauthorized operations are unavailable for the user. In addition, the devices that the user are not authorized to operate are shielded from the management interface.

Environment Monitoring

The MA5600T provides an environment monitoring port. The port connects to the environment monitoring module through a special cable. In this way, the data related to the environment, such as temperature, humidity, power supply voltage, and smoke an be collected. This helps to realize remote or unattended maintenance.

The environment monitoring board supports plug-and-play, auto discovery and auto configuration.
