Introduction: Play Ten Questions explaining


that students must ask questions about a
famous person at Eakin. LIS will only answer
yes or no. After 10 questions have been
asked, the LIS will reveal the answer. Explain
that they are going to research a famous
person from history by using a variety of
resources. What were some of the questions
you might want to know?
Model: LIS will model how students will record
the information using the a character outline
and answer the following questions about
Eakins famous principal
a. Who is the person?
b. Where did they live?
c. When did they live?
d. What did they do or contribute?
e. Why did they do it?
f.
How did they do it?
LIS will explain that it is easy to find out about
someone you know but where could they go to
find information about a person who lived long
ago. Remind students of some of the places
weve found information before: nonfiction
books, encyclopedias (print & online), and
Pebble Go.
Practice: Working in groups, student will use a
biography & or nonfiction texts, print
encyclopedias, online World Book, and Pebble
Go to answer who, where, when, what,
why, & how questions. Students will record
their facts on the character outline.
Assessment*: One student from the group will
present the information about their person to
the entire class. * this can be done in class if
time does not permit
