Possible future SARFT projects

Ideas worth considering in

international radio broadcasting

● Transmission Staff, Propagation Research

Technical Cooperation China-Cuba

China and Cuba have common goals and need to

develop broadcasting systems capable of
performing defensive roles, should the need arise
Medium Wave Broadcasting

Technical innovation :

The Interlaced Rhombic (and standard Rhombic)

antennas can function in the Medium Wave band
with directivity equaling most typical shortwave
Curtain Arrays.

The former USSR used this technology, but did

not fully develop its directivity.
Proposed Antenna Model
Targeting goals (Cuba)
Frequency band
● 800 kHz (lowest)

● 1700 kHz (highest)

Power level
● 50 kw or 100 kw per transmitter

Transmitting day
● Sunset to Sunrise

Modulation mode
● Generally AM, or Narrow FM
Transmitter Site 1
Transmitter Site 1
Transmitter Site 2
Targeting goals Cuba, network

Transmitting stations

● A minimum of 10 are needed providing up to 20

frequencies audible in the target area
● 45 km spacing is recommended between stations

so as to eliminate coupling effects

● Stations should be within 15 km of the sea so as to

take advantage of the increased reflectivity of the

sea water
● Stations should be at an elevation of at least 50

meters above sea level to decrease tsunami risk

The near abroad : Guam

The US has allowed Guam to be used to

aggressively target all Chinese regions and
internal nationalities via religious and
governmental broadcasting – in a manner
exclusively intended to destabilize the internal
economy and civil state.

The aggressive actions of the US should no

longer be tolerated, as China has more than
sufficient means to defend itself against.
Proposed Antenna Model
Marianas (Guam)
Targeting goals, Guam (MW)
● Only one frequency is needed, generally above 1500 kHz
● Transmitter power : 50 kw nominal, but 100 kw power is

recommended
● An RF beam ~5º wide is needed to target Guam

● Only Rhombic or Interlaced Rhombic antennas will work,

as Guam is a very difficult to reach via MW

● A set of reflectors will have to be devloped so as to

eliminate the wasteful sideloabes created by the rhombic

design
● The US will allow Guam independence if it is belived that

there is profit in it – this technological innovation will have

to help along the inevitable political processes
● The Shanghai region is suitable for the transmitter site –

but offshore islands are recommended for better

propagation
Technical acknowledgements
All propagation studies and antenna designs have
been done by Power Broadcasting (Australia) and
its subsidiary operation in NZ.

● Further technical consultations are available on

request – see other parts of this presentation or
the website HireMe.geek.nz for the details.

● These proposals are based on some of my

previous work submitted to the Australian AMCA
“5 Year Propagation Outlook” (Summer 2009).
