Maintenance Quick Guide
This guide is a quick reference for the Flexi Multiradio Antenna System FAGF and FAGP maintenance.
Follow these instructions when you need to replace radio modules
and/or fans of Flexi Multiradio Antenna System FAGF and FAGP.

Invisible laser radiation from the module optical fiber connector.
Always switch off the laser before detaching the optical fiber from the connector.

NOTICE:
Incorrect cables and seals may not provide secured weather protection. In outdoor
installations, including the outdoor cabinet, use only tested IP65 class outdoor cables
with seals provided by Nokia Solutions and Networks. This is also recommended for
indoor installations.

NOTICE:
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) may damage the modules. Wear an ESD wrist strap or
use a corresponding method when handling the modules.

1. TORX screwdriver: T25


2. Wrench: 13 mm (0.51 in.)
3. Cable ties
4. Side cutters
5. Scissors
6. Torque wrench for antenna cables

2 Disconnecting the cables


Disconnect all cables from the AAS module before starting the maintenance activities.
WARNING! Danger of lethal voltages.
Make sure that the mains power breaker is off, and the BTS is properly earthed (grounded),
before connecting or removing any mains power supply cables from the AAS.

Setting the antenna to its maintenance position

NOTE: Mechanical tilt adjustment can be performed only after antenna installation.

1. Loose the lockings screws from both sides of the


bracket.
2. Loosen the bolts on each side of the lower bracket.
3. Loosen the bolts on each side of the upper bracket.

4. Tight the locking screws to the slot on both sides of the bracket.
5. Once the antenna is in its desired tilt angle, tighten the bolts on
the upper and lower brackets to 20 Nm (14.75 ft lb).

NOTICE: Do not release the lifting rope until the unit is safely secured.

Lower bracket

Pull the antenna to the 7 degree tilting point, to be


able to remove the locking screw on both sides.

Pull the antenna to 11 degree tilting point in order to reach the


extended maintenance position.

3. Loosen the bolts on each side of the upper bracket.

4. Tight the locking screws to the slot on both sides of the bracket.
5. Once the antenna is in its desired tilt angle, tighten the bolts on
the upper and lower brackets to 20 Nm (14.75 ft lb).

NOTICE: Do not release the lifting rope until the unit is safely secured.

Pull the antenna to the 7 degree tilting point, to be


able to remove the locking screw on both sides.

Pull the antenna to 11 degree tilting point in order to reach the


extended maintenance position.

4 Replacing the fans


1. Loosen the lowest back cover screws
on each side of the antenna.

3. Release the locking clip of


the connectors and
disconnect the fan cables

6. Connect the fan cables.

2. Remove the back cover covering the fans and let it hang by the maintenance strap.

4. Release the fan assembly locking clip and pull it out.

7. Replace the back cover covering


the fans.

NOTICE:
Incorrect connectors mating might cause them to break.

5. Insert the new fan assembly


and make sure it locks into
place.

8. Tighten the screws on both


sides of the antenna.

10. Push the antenna back to its appropriate tilt angle.

The equipment is heavy. Take care when you tilting the bracket arms.
11. Fix the screws on each side of the upper bracket.

5 Replacing the radio modules


1. Loosen the screws of the back cover of
faulty radio on each side of the antenna.

2. Remove the back cover and let it hang by the maintenance strap.

3. Cut the cable ties before disconnecting the cables.

4. Disconnect the power cable by squeezing the locking clips.

5. Disconnect the data cable.

6. Loosen four marked screws holding the radio in place.

7. TIP Antenna is equipped with a hinge that helps holding the radio module in place.

NOTICE:
Do not let the radio module drop.
8. Disconnect the RF cables in the radio. The blue P45 RF cable goes to the top connector while the
black M45 RF cable goes to the bottom connector.

9. Pull out the radio module

10. Insert the new radio module leaving it


tilted forward.

11. Connect the RF cables.

Do not mix up the RF cables.
12. Push the radio in and fix
the four screws.

13. Connect the data cable.

14. Connect the power cable.

15. Use cable tie to fix the power and data cables
to cable tie plate.

16. Assemble the back cover and tighten the screws on each side of the antenna.

Setting the antenna to the original position

Follow the procedures in page 7.
