“CREATIVE PALESTINIAN ART”

Dear Palestinian Artist,

Art Sawa, in partnership with the Welfare Association invites you to enter in the
juried fine Arts Competition, a one of its kind, not-for-profit cultural initiative,
to be held here in Dubai.

CREATIVE PALESTINIAN ART

The Jury will select the finalists and an exhibition of the work(s) will be held in
the Art Sawa gallery where in addition to the Artworks exhibit, a dedicated
publication specific to the event will be distributed.

The Exhibition will last for one month from March 15th, 2010 till April 16th, 2010
and will showcase Palestinian’s finest artists.

The participation to the competition, the costs of insurance and


shipment are free of costs for the applicant artists.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Application Form
Please read carefully

1. Only artists who are Palestinian or of Palestinian origin and are 18 years of age or older may submit works for
competition. All media are accepted with exception of film, performance, jewellery and crafts.
2. Only original works will be admitted; photocopies or computer generated copies are not acceptable for
entries.
3. Works submitted must have been created during the last 18 months and have not been previously accepted or
shown in another exhibition.
4. Each artist may submit a maximum of two (2) works in either the Professional or the Amateur category
(Section 1 or 2).
5. Diptychs and triptychs (works created in two or three sections) will be considered as one entry in any class
where applicable.
6. All entries must be stretched if needed NOT be WET, with the exception of Porcelain and Sculpture classes, in
excellent condition and framed. These entries, with the exception of oils and acrylics, must be framed with
either glass or Plexiglas.
7. All entries that require framing must have suitable hangers and wire; e.g. two eye screws and steel wire.
Improperly wired works will not be accepted.
8. Entries submitted in metal frames which require clips to hold artwork in frame will be refused.
9. Title of the work(s), full artist‘s name, mailing address and phone MUST be clearly printed on
the back of 2D and the bottom of 3D works.
10. Only titled art works will be accepted and titles cannot be changed.”Untitled “is not considered a title.
11. Please enter the Class number on the Entry Form
12. ANY entry not meeting any of the above conditions WILL NOT be accepted.

JUDGING

1. All entries will be judged by a jury of distinction and reputation.


2 Jury’s decisions are final.
3. This is a juried contest and not all submitted works will be exhibited.
4. Where an award is not merited, in the opinion of the judges, award will not be granted.

AGREEMENT

1. ART SAWA reserves the right to:


a- Reject any entry considered to be objectionable (profane language, excessive violence, nudity and
offensive nature).
b- Photographs and reproduction photos of all accepted entries for publicity purposes.
c- Exhibited work may not be removed before the closing date of the exhibit.
2. While every reasonable precaution will be taken to safeguard the exhibit, it is distinctly understood that in no
case shall Art Sawa, its management, officers or agents will be held responsible for loss or injury of any
character to persons or articles while participating in or exhibited.
3. Art Sawa will not be responsible for the security of safe storage of items delivered before the delivery date or
left after the exhibit pick up deadline.
4. Financial Award WILL NOT be honoured after March 1, 2011
5-A commission of 35 % will be added to the Artist price to make up the “Selling Price” and will be donated to a
Palestinian Humanitarian Organization for Children. E.g. If an artist asks 100 for his work the gallery will sell
the work at a Selling price of 135 and will donate the 35 to the Charity.
6. Agreement to all aforementioned conditions and regulations is understood when the exhibitor submits
entries.

Hold harmless Agreement: In consideration of the Art Sawa gallery agreeing to display this (these) artworks
hereby loan to Art Sawa the above-specified work(s) until 6pm, April 17th, 2010.I release, save and hold
harmless Art Sawa gallery, its agents and employees of any liability that arise by damage, loss or theft while said
work is in the possession of Art Sawa gallery. The work(s) submitted by me is (are) my own work.
Art Sawa gallery will receive the 35% added to the artist price from the sale price for any work sold to be
donated.
