HTA-YMCA
Physical Education Partnership

Attention HTA students!!! Put away those video

games, get off the couch and let’s get active! We
live in beautiful Hawaii where the weather is great
and the scenery is gorgeous! Why stay cooped up inside? Let’s get active!!!

Hawaii Technology Academy is proud to announce a unique fitness and

education program partnering with the YMCA state-wide. Our goal is to create
a social and physical active environment that promotes healthy lifestyles and
positive attitudes in our youth. This program will allow our students to gain
physical education credit hours by using a paid membership with the YMCA.
Each participant will be afforded the skills, knowledge and guidance to enable
them to get and stay fit!

As a Hawaii Technology Academy student, there are physical education

requirements that need to be met, mandated by the Dept. of Education. Many
of our students already participate in team sports, outdoor play, etc., to fulfill
this requirement.

To take advantage of this HTA-YMCA partnership and register:

1. Students
13
and
older
need
to
visit
the
Waipahu
YMCA
at
94‐440

Mokuola

more info.
HTA is requesting that all Hawaiian History students plant a
tree; however HTA would like to encourage all HTA students
to plant trees. HTA will provide the trees and all you have to do
is plant your tree and turn in a form giving us information
about your tree, as well as a photo of you planting the tree.
If interested please contact Miss Steele:
csteele@hawaiitechacademy.org.

• A single tree absorbs one ton of carbon dioxide in its lifetime. That’s a lot less CO2 in
our precious atmosphere!
• Trees’ roots prevent soil erosion, which keeps good organic material from washing away
in the rain. They also provide leaves yearly, which can be used for valuable compost.
• Many animals are taking a hit because we are chopping down so many trees, which
are their prime source for habitat. By planting a tree you provide animals habitat.
