ARIES (Mar 21 - Apr. 20)

Some of you have forgotten how to

be youthful and young at heart. If
you have a celestial task over the next
few weeks, it is to rediscover the art
of being spontaneous, joyful, and even a little
irresponsible. It could feel as if a massive
weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

Your planets really can't decide what

they're doing or where they're going,
which makes your astrologer's job even more
difficult than usual. Let's just accept that your
stars are generally confident, and that you
should finish the day odds-on.

GEMINI (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)

It's because you had the good fortune
to be born a Gemini that you have the
right to change your mind as often as you
wish. As from this month a whole range of
decisions and choices are plunged into the
melting pot, much to partners' annoyance.
But that's their problem!

CANCER ( JUNE 22 - JULY 23)

Go over all financial commitments
with a fine toothcomb, and try to
spot the deliberate error! This is advice, by the way, which you must follow up to
at least well into the next month. Another consideration is that romantic expenses are set to
spiral.

Ravindra Pawar's strong
and bold use of colour is
refreshing for he allows
the central colour to dictate terms, but only to an
extent. He quietly slips in
elements and expressions that hold fort without disturbing the visual.
His strokes are purposeful, and he holds his
space tightly; at the same
time, there is a looseness
as well that changes the
paradigm. The artist sees

LEO (JULY 24 - AUG 23)

Certain old ideas, proposals or
suggestions are now due to receive a new lease of life. But your
biggest weakness over the next
two weeks could be complacency, and if a
wondrous opportunity should float past, you
must grab it firmly with both hands.

VIRGO (AUG 24 - SEP 23)

You've got to do what's expected of
you without sacrificing your own interests. The trick is to perform your
daily responsibilities with your usual skill, but
avoid being sucked into a mind-numbing routine. There will be a host of little ways in which
you can amuse yourself while keeping the authorities happy.

LIBRA (SEP 24 - OCT 23)

Mars is playing a double game, encouraging you to go behind other
people's backs now, but planning to
bring everything into the open very
soon. This should surely be sufficient to encourage you to behave according to
only the highest standards.

SCORPIO (OCT 24 - NOV 22)

Your romantic predilections and

aspirations are already showing a
shift back towards pride and vanity, just for a short period. This
means that you will expect partners to have
sufficient achievements to justify your being
seen with them in public.

SAGITTARIUS (NOV 23 - DEC

22)
The best that you can hope for from
several of your current stars is a
large windfall, the least is the
promise of financial reward some time in the
indefinite future. The one qualification is that
you must rely on your own efforts: luck doesn't come into it.

CAPRICORN (DEC. 23 - JAN.

20)
Your adventurous energies may
soon have to be put on ice, but as
long as time is on your side you may
press ahead with travel plans and improvements to your personal life. However, one way
or another, you should check that there is
nothing amiss as soon as possible.

Mardaani

AQUARIUS (JAN. 21- FEB. 19)

You are about to find that close partners or spouses, can be terribly annoying. It now looks as if someone is
about to go back on their word, but the twist is
that this time they're likely to be on your side!
Hopefully their support will be good for you!

MARVIN BY TOM ARMSTRONG

PISCES (FEB. 20 - MAR 20)

You sometimes tend to forget just
how important it is to remain physically fit. Hopefully you will now return to a diet or exercise regime that
was abandoned, perhaps before you even
started! Some of you may be even tackling a
new competitive sport.

Kadams goal keeps Carmelites afloat

YOGESH Kadams late strike enabled Carmelites SC snatch a
thrilling 3-2 win against Companeroes SC in a Premier Division
match of the 11th BWFA Football league 2014, conducted by
Bandra West Football Association at the Dr. Norman Lewis Supari Talao municipal grounds. Azzar Noorani and Akshay Saptoji
got the other two goals for the winners, while Jayesh Kamble
and Rohel Shaikh scored a goal each for the losing side.
In a evenly matched and keenly contested encounter played in
soggy ground conditions, Noorani and Akshay Saptoji did well
to combine nicely to score the opening two goals, one in each
half, to give Carmelites a commanding 2-0 advantage. But, the
Elite Division outfit, Companeroes, after making a couple of
changes came back strongly and managed to draw level with
strikers Kamble and Shaikh netting a goal apiece.

Kadam) beat Companeroes SC 2 (Jayesh Kamble, Rohel Shaikh);

ILL 2009, Tsai Wei Yang

enjoyed spending most of
his time on the basketball
court. That is until a chance meeting with Huang Chung Jeng took
him to a different sort of court
one that was as alien as it was peculiar.
Jeng had just returned from India, a trip that had introduced the
future president of the Taiwan
Kabaddi Federation (TKF) to the
indigenous sport. And when he
decided to carry the sport back
home and spread it in his homeland, Yang and his collegemates
were the first batch of inquisitive
youngsters that he started with.
Five years on, it is Yang's turn to
be in India. And over the last hectic month or so, the 25-year-old
has not only been in the midst of a
dramatic kabaddi revolution, he
has been an intergral part of it.
That is while spending a majority
of his time on the sidelines, doing
a PhD in a sport that he had not
even heard of just five years ago.
For good measure, Yang was a
member of the Jaipur Pink Panthers outfit, the first-ever ProKabaddi League (PKL) champions. His contribution on the court
might have been limited to a few
minutes during the Panthers'
semifinal clash against Patna Pirates. But that has only meant
more time on the sidelines to prepare his thesis on kabaddi.
Teammates and friends know
the Taiwan international as
David, a name he adopted as a
boarding school student in Belize.
And seeing Yang sit in rapt attention, soaking and noting down
every intricate aspect of the
kabaddi action, his colleagues at
the Jaipur franchise would often
joke that he was only short of carrying a notebook to matches.

They used to say that carrying

a notebook would make me a 'true
student' of the game, he says,
laughing.
The learning experience that
hes gained from the PKL over the
last few weeks has been far from
what was on offer back home.
Only last year, Yang was handing
out questionnaires to various
kabaddi circles in Taiwan to
gather their perception of the
sport. The two-year doctorate
course from the University of
Taipei now though even contains
five minutes worth of first-hand
experience. All five of those minutes coming against the Pirates at
the National Sports Club of India
in Mumbai. Having to spend a lot
of time warming the bench hasn't
dampened his spirits one bit, however.
I am learning for the PhD and
to get better at the game. But at
the same time the best players
start. This is a competition at the
end of the day, he says.
Benefits of learning from the
tournament are three-fold, Yang

explains. Academic and individual

skill development is joined by
learning to get better at coaching,
so that he is in a better shape to
mould the Taipei womens team
that he is in-charge of back home.
Yang was given the task of becoming the team's mentor by Jeng
in 2013.
I was quite afraid at first. But
eventually I settled into the role. I
did a lot of research about coaching by going through videos online. That gave me a start, he recalls. Interestingly enough, the
Taipei womens team is the same
team that will represent Taiwan at
the upcoming Asian Games.
The opportunity of becoming a
coach had presented itself after
Yang became Taiwans first professional player in 2010. Yang and
his classmates from college in fact
formed the first batch of athletes
to represent their country in
kabaddi. The rest, apart from
Yang of course, quit the sport after six months, making way for
new wide-eyed enthusiasts. In the
process, Yang's 14-year long asso-

ciation with basketball dwindled

to the point that it became a mere
hobby.
With the inaugural PKL title going to the Jaipur team, the rightcover defender remains overwhelmed by the atmosphere he
witnessed. He has long been accustomed to little or no audience
support at home.
I didnt play much, but the way
each point is celebrated here gives
me goosebumps, he says, flashing a wide smile. Seeing himself
on billboards and large posters,
exhibiting an intimidating look
too has been a unique experience.
Im still not used to being a
celebrity, he adds.
Yangs first international tournament, back in 2009, came at a
time when he still wasnt entirely
aware of the rules. He got familiar
with the trade whenthen a part
of the junior Taiwan teamhe
played against Pakistan, Iran and
hosts Malaysia in an invitational
tournament. Now he finds his
name on the roster of a champion
franchise that belongs to a country known as the haven for
kabaddi back in Taiwan. He returns home now with enough material to make him an expert. And
by the time, Yang returns in
March for PKL season II, he will
be Doctor Kabaddi.
