    The2300D/2301DproductlineisveryimportanttoWoodwardWehavecompletedaredesignprojecttoextend
    theusefullifeofthislineofcontrollers.The2300Eand2301EwillreplacetheDversionsbeginning
    30September2012.Thisupdatewasrequiredtoaddresscomponentavailabilityissuesandcustomerfeature
    requests.
    The2300E/2301Econtrolshaveidenticalmountingfootprintstothecorresponding2300D/2301D.Existing
    applicationcodehasbeenconvertedandvalidated.
    Changes:
    2300Eand2301E
    Minorchangestowiringterminaltypeandspacing.SeeAttachmentAfordetails
    Greaterprocessingpowerandmemory
    SeparateRS232andRS422serialportsbothwith9pinconnectors
    AdditionalstatusLEDs(powerandRS422)
    2300Eonly
    CANchannelsupportingCANopenforLINKnetHT,Woodwardactuators,andotherCANcapabledevices
    Secondmagneticpickupspeedinput
    ThenewEversionitemnumberswillbeavailablebeginninginSeptember,2012.TheDversionswillcontinue
    tobeavailableaslongastheycanbebuild(anticipatedthroughmid2013).However,theirpricewillincrease.

    ProductSupportPolicy:
    Aslongasthe2300/2301productlineissuccessfulinthemarketplace,Woodwardwillfullysupportandactively
    sellit.Itiscurrentlyenvisionedthatthisproductlinewillbesuccessfulandactivelysoldforatleastthenext10
    years.
    Aswithallproducts,therewillcomeatimewhenWoodwardwillneedtodiscontinueproduction.Recognizingthat
    customersusetheseproductsoncriticalequipmentwithextendedlifetimes,Woodwardhasimplementedapost
    lifesupportplantosupportourcustomersforthelifeoftheequipment.Whenaproductmustbediscontinued,
    Woodwardwillfollowourstandardrationalizationplan,includingtypicallyaoneyearnotificationpriorto
    rationalization.
    Uponnotificationoftheendofproductionlifeforaspecificproduct,thefollowingsupportplanapplies:

    strivestoholdinventory,orlookforalternativepartswhencomponentsreachtheirendoflife.However,thereare
    timeswhencomponentscannotbeobtainedandwheresufficientlasttimebuyscannotbemade.Inthesecases,
    Woodwardcannotalwaysguaranteethatwecanmaintaintherationalizationsupportplan.
