Great News.
We are delighted to inform you that Sport England has awarded Cheshire Academies Trust a Sports Grant for
a Multi Use Games Area. This offer replaces the original offer of 02 June 2014 to Mill View Primary School.
The Award will be used to provide a 12m x 7m games space with safety flooring and floor markings; a
meander trail on our playground and activity surfacing in the Reception outdoor area.
We anticipate the work will be completed by 31 August 2015 and the school will be dedicating the MUGA to
the memory of Danny Jones. Danny, father of Holly in Year 6, and a former football coach for Chester
FC Academy died of a brain tumour in March. Dannys mother Debbie was a governor at Mill View and we are
delighted that Debbie and Tara, Dannys wife, have given us permission to dedicate the MUGA to the memory
of Danny. There will be an official opening of the MUGA in the new academic year.

Parent Governor
As you are aware via previous communication Mrs Joanne Wraiges four year
office will commence at the next full governing body on 01 July 2015 as
governor responsible for Safeguarding. The Safeguarding cards have been
printed and a copy will be coming home next week. The card includes
contact numbers for Domestic Abuse, Childline and NSPCC. There is an
electronic copy uploaded on the school website and hard copies in the school
entrance as usual.
Sports Day and National Sports Week (week commencing Monday 22 June)
Mrs Burt-Williams and Miss Pemberton are busy planning exciting sporting
events for National Sports Week and we will keep you informed of these
events in our newsletters. To coincide with National Sports Week our
Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 23 June and the PTA Summer Fun Run
on Friday 26 June 4pm.

Hair Auction
One of our parents, Tracy Kilner, is donating
her hair to The Little Princess Trust who make
wigs for children suffering with hair loss. A hairdresser will be cutting Tracys
hair off on Friday 19 June in school.
How can you help? Tracy is asking asking families to donate money on her
just giving page www.justgiving.com/tracykilner. She is raising money
for cancer research by donating her hair and also running in Race for Life.
This is her story
I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year. Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring
me - it's quick, easy and totally secure.
People tend to recognise me or remember me because of my hair. I have lots! My Nanan Elizabeth, my aunty
Pam and my dear friend Sussy all lost their hair when having treatment. How often we joke about bad hair
days and do not realise how important it is to us until we lose it, and although it is nothing , it makes us
look/feel rubbish and unattractive and on top of how bad we feel some days and smiling when it hurts.. we
still (deep down) want to look pretty and my hair is very much what I am, so I am going to auction plats of
my hair, God willing to good bidders and raise money while losing my feminine self for love.
Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and
treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore. By sponsoring
me, we will beat cancer sooner.

Special Educational Needs Change Team Update by Mrs Noble

The SEN Change Team met on 05 June to review the work done over the last eighteen months towards
implementing the new SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) code of practice. There is much to
celebrate: Mill View has a new school policy; an SEN report on the Cheshire West and Chester Local Offer
and a new system of Plan, Do, Review to support childrens progress. Although these are achievements in
themselves, of greater importance is the raising of inclusive practices across the school. This means that all
childrens learning and wellbeing is supported by a raft of strategies, teacher approaches, changes to the
classroom environment and ways of thinking.
Some parents will receive a questionnaire over the next few weeks asking for their views on how well the
school caters for children with special needs and inviting suggestions as to how we might improve further.
We would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete this as we really do value your opinions.
The SEN Change Team will continue to meet, albeit less frequently, and parents will be informed as to
when this will happen. If you would like to join us, we would be more than happy to see you at our next
meeting. Please email admin@millview.cheshire.sch.uk or telephone the school office if you would like to
join the next meeting.
We would like to thank those parents who have contributed so positively to the SEN Change Team as this
has been an excellent opportunity for parents and the school to work together and improve outcomes for
all our pupils.

Staffing News
Mrs Anderson has been successful in her application to teach Art at Wilmslow Preparatory School. Mrs
Anderson has worked at Mill View since 2006 and she is very pleased not to be driving from Wilmslow to
Chester in September! I am sure you would like to join me in thanking her for her work at our school and in
wishing her all the very best at her new school.
Mrs Burt-Williams has decided to concentrate on renovating property in September. Although Mrs BurtWilliams will not have a classteacher commitment at Mill View she has agreed to be one of our supply
teachers and we will be delighted to welcome her back. I am sure you would like to join me in thanking her
for her work and wishing her all the very best in her renovation adventure!
