Motivesforenteringintoa
marriagearevariedand
complex.TheStatedoes
notandcannotdictateon
thekindoflifethatacouple
choosestolead.Thus,
marriagesenteredintofor
otherpurposes,limitedor
otherwise,suchas
convenience,
companionship,money,
status,andtitle,provided
thattheycomplywithallthe
legalrequisites,areequally
valid.Love,thoughtheideal
considerationinamarriage
contract,isnottheonlyvalid
causeformarriage.Other
considerations,not
precludedbylaw,may
validlysupportamarriage.

mockeryofthesacred
institutionofmarriage.
Allowinghermarriagewith
Fringertobedeclaredvoid
wouldonlyfurthertrivialize
thisinviolableinstitution.

Nationale.WearesonaivewiththeFamilycodeandwewerejust
bankingonmylawyer'swords.
WefiletheSpousalVisaApplicationandunfortunately,the
EmbassysentusalettertwoweeksagostatingArticle15ofthe
CivilCodeofthePhilippines,thus,tellingmethatmyhusbandis
stilllegallymarriedtohisexwife,becausetheyfoundintheir
recordsthatbothofthemarestillCitizensofthePhilippines.
Italkedtomylawyeraboutthisandhesaidthathewasabletoget
aRecognitionofDivorceDecreeofmyhusbandlastyearand
honestly,wespentalotofmoneyjustforthat.Hesaidthathewill
writealettertotheembassyforreconsiderationalongwiththe
attachments.MylawyerlikewisementioendthattheDecreeof
DivorcewasregisteredatDepartmentofForeignAffairs,Cityof
LocalRegistrar,etc.HencewewereabletoacquiretheNSOcopy
ofourmarriagecontract.
TheEmbassyisgivingustimethoughtosendasubmissionor
proposaltoaddressthisconcern.WEaresolostAttorney.We
wastedsomuchtime.Ittookusalotoftimebeforewewereable
tofiletheSpousalVisabecuasewewerewaitingforourNSOcopy
ofourmarriagecontract.
