ol.
4,

Arron Fjeld with her recurve bow and Mike Lackner with his compound bow at the new Glasgow Archery Range.

If everyone donates we can make this happen!

Elk four, Arron zero. Thats
how it went for me last fall, said
Arron Fjeld about her archery
hunting season.
And thats why she was eager
to jump in and help Mike Lackner
design a new archery range just
north of Glasgow.

I met Arron a couple of years
ago at the trap club, Mike said. All
those Fjeld kids are good workers.
The project started in March
and is for the most part completed.
Along with the practice field and
tree stand, there are 10 3-D targets
as you stroll through the coulees

kinda like a 10-hole golf course for

bow hunting. Targets include elk,
deer, coyote, antelope and even a
turkey.
It puts you in your element,
says Mike, youre not in a flat shoot.
You can pick your range.

A note from our Friends of the

Valley County Pioneer Museum

by
Doris Franzen

June is here again. Friends of the Pioneer Museum
always look forward to it because during this month
we host the Open House. We love this opportunity
to meet with many of the friends we do not see as
much as we would like. So please come join us on
June 14, 2015 beginning at 1:00 and going until 5:00.
Refreshments will be served.
This gives us a wonderful opportunity to
show you the new gift shop. Because of the other
remodeling project going on, it was a great time to
make some major changes to the gift shop, so please
come take a look. I am sure you will agree that a great
improvement has been made not only in the gift shop,
but in the office area as well.
While exploring the Pioneer Museum on your
visit you will be able to enjoy the many exhibits that
are available to you. It is your Museum! It houses
your Heritage and has one of the best collections
weve been told by many this side of Denver. So
you can be proud of what you represent to the rest of
the world.

We look forward to seeing you and if you have
any questions regarding the Museum, feel free to
ask. If we do not have the answer we will direct you
to someone who can help you. We look forward to
seeing you!

Letter to the Buzz

Glasgow parents, teachers,
and schools should be proud

The Glasgow 7th and 8th grade Science Club

came to our ranch home May 15 to learn about solar
and wind power off grid, family milk cows, and native
vegetation with Ashley Kemmis and Lisa Flowers
(instructors) and Skip (bus driver).

The young people listened attentively and were
great guests after the long ride out here.
Obviously, we generally do not have a lot of
visitors so we were surprised how our animals,
who consider themselves great judges of character,
reacted. The little calico cat that usually runs when
we have company enjoyed being carried around. The
milk cows looked a bit surprised but enjoyed being
brushed with many hands. The baby calves refrained
from racing about and stayed to meet their new
friends. The horses and dogs competed for attention.
We appreciate the effort involved bringing the
students out here and enjoyed sharing information
with them. We hope they benefited from the
experience.

Sincerely,

Rose A. Stoneberg

According to a new study, the recommendation

that people need eight glasses of water per day
is a myth. I think we figured that out when we
never once drank eight glasses of water and still
survived. ~ Seth Meyers

Archery Range continued from front

Money to build the archery range came from

donations by local businesses as well as individuals
wishing to hone their skills throughout the summer for
the upcoming hunting season. Built on property owned
by the City of Glasgow, theres approximately $2,500
invested, and D&G Sports & Western gave them a great
deal.

The range is open to the public and free to use; all
Arron and Mike ask is that you treat it as if it was your
own.

People dont really realize how much work this has
been, says Arron. They lost track of how much time
they put into it over the past three months and are still
making improvements.

We want responsible range users, says Mike, and
there is nothing wrong with bringing the kids along. We
dont deny the right for anyone to shoot.

Anyone wishing to donate to help with maintenance
and the addition of more targets may do so as there
is a Glasgow Archery Range account set up at Valley
Bank.

Bow hunters can practice using a tree stand at the new

Glasgow Archery Range located behind the Glasgow
Trap Club, but it doesnt use the same road. If you see
the metal gate, youve went to far; hang the first right
on Skylark Road.
