Few people misunderstand the meaning of serving the public, which simply means
serving for the good and the welfare of the community.
I had observed that some government employees doesnt have any commitment to
public interest, for the reason that they use government-owned vehicles to their
personal appointments and such, or they brought home office supplies that must
only be used for the office.
And as a soon to be employee of any government agency, I must use office supplies
efficiently and avoid wastage of it like recycling paper for paper for filing only, or
use the bond paper only for the agencys use; or use government vehicle and for
official use only. This does not limit only to these but also as to the use of the
machines and equipment in the office, like the photocopier, use it only within the
departments usage and not for personal consumption; the computer, use it for
serving the public without social networking sites and games; and the telephone
calls should only be limited to business- and office-related calls, emergencies would
be exemptions to calls. Government funds should also be preserved and if possible,
be budgeted efficiently, and will never be used in corruptions and other personal
intentions. Even if you only borrow some funds for your personal consumption, it is
an indirect corruption that might lead to more serious corruption.
Showing my commitment to public interest is like showing how you love and how
you respect your work. Many would say If you want to change the ways of doings
of others, you must start with yourself, and understanding this norm, commitment
to public interest, would be a very good start for the change for the better nation.
can be done for the people which will indirectly affect them. By simply cutting thecosts of the
government offices that were paid by the taxes of the people, it could help them as itwill improve
their economic status or lessen their burden of the taxes.Working for the government is a real
sacrifice for anyone because despite of the lower compensation than those offered by private
firms, public servants decide to serve the governmentnot only for their own interests but for the
public.Serving for the sake of Public interest, for the Filipinos does not necessarily mean that we
shouldrun for mayor or congressman. By simple ways, the public interest can be protected.
With a certificate, diploma, or college degree under your belt, you have opened the door to many
career opportunities in your future. In addition to the information and skills you learned in the
classroom, there is more to know when it comes to how to become a professional.
Here are some tips on developing a professional manner appreciated by both employers and
colleagues:
If you have a moment's doubt about whether something is appropriate to wear in the
workplace, don't wear it.
Hide tattoos.
Be honest.
Be reliable.
Be positive.
Be true to yourself.
Communicate honestly and directly but always with tact and respect.
Express your beliefs even if you dont agree, but remain positive and supportive to the
organization.
Communicate with care via telephone and email since that is often the first contact others
make with you and your company.
See the big picture and make connections between people and events.
It is natural to feel angry with others, even on the job, however it is never appropriate to
act out on anger.
There can be incidents on the job or co-workers that may cause you unhappiness or harm.
Figure out how to promptly, calmly, and matter of factly discuss this with the appropriate
party, avoiding drama and tattling.
Avoid gossip.
Eat and sleep well. If you don't know how to do that, there's no better time than the
present to learn!
Know yourself. Take the time to slow down and reflect on your strengths and
weaknesses, triumphs and mistakes, developing a realistic, non-judgmental and nonegotistical view of yourself.
Slow down. It is difficult to have a sense of your well-being if you are never still.
Exercise for improved overall health, energy and happiness. Enjoy looking good as the
by-product, not the goal.
Healthy people who know how to take care of themselves are attractive people and that
quality gets noticed. If you care about yourself, you will be better able to care about your
job and that will impress any employer.
