SUMMARY:
I would be a great asset since I was a Research Laboratory Technician II for 11 years at Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratories. I deliver my results on time because I am very efficient and
organized; I take pride in being someone you can rely on. I would like to continue to be a
cutting-edge technician, research assistant or associate in a non-profit, R&D facility or
biopharmaceutical company that will challenge me to continue my education of the latest
techniques being developed. I hope to help further the newest technologies which are being used
to identify key genes within many well-known publicized diseases, which hopefully one day will
be eradicated by advancements made in the pharmaceutical world.
SKILLS:
Laboratory Skills: DNA extraction, PCR analysis, cell counting and staining, agarose gel
electrophoresis, transformations including blue/white screening and -gal assays, DNA and RNA
and protein extractions and purification, Northern, Southern and Western blotting, cell tissue
culture (including transformations), FISH, recombinant DNA experiments including DNA
cloning by bacterial transformations, plasmid harvesting and purification, microscopy, human
tissue dissection, flow cytometry preparations and many other basic laboratory techniques.
Maintenance of Laboratory Skills: Managerial duties (examples: purchasing, inventory and
receiving), calibration and troubleshooting of scientific instruments and chemical or media
preparations.
Computer Skills: Windows XP and 7, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point),
the Internet, networking, servers and scientific related software related to specific instruments.
