The Auto Meter III is powered by a single 6v alkaline-manganese(4LR44, Eveready 537 or equivalent),

Supplied with the Auto Meter III is a key guard which can be installed to help prevent accidentally
p r e s s i n gt h e i n p u t o r d i s p l a y k e y s i f t h e m e t e r i s l a i d o n i t s f a c e .
To install the guard, peel off its protective backing (El and carefully align the guard around the increase,
d e c r e a s ea, n d A S A / T I M E k e y s a s s h o w n ( F ) .

NOTE
o Even with the guard installed, it is not recommended to place the meter face down, as the keys and'
displaywindow might be damaged.

Setting measuring time (shutter speed)


A f t e r t h e f i l m s p e e d h a s b e e n s e t , p r e s st h e A S A / T I M E k e y t o p u t t h e m e t e r i n t o i t s t i m e - s e t t i n g / d i s p l a y
mode. The display will then show the most recently set shutter speed. lf the battery hasjust been installed,
" 6 0 " ( 1 / 6 0 s e c . )w i l l b e d i s p l a y e d .

displayed. After a measurement has been made, the ASA and shutter speed can be reset and the displayed

Analog display
I n a d d i t i o n t o t h e d i g i t a l d i s p l a y ( M - 1 ) , t h e A u t o M e t e r I I I h a s a n a n a l o g a p e r t u r e - s c a l ed i s p l a y a l o n g t h e
top of the display window (M-2). This display, when used in conjunction with the memory function, will
s h o w u p t o t h r e e s e p a r a t er e a d i n g ss o t h a t e x p o s u r eo r c o n t r a s t c a l c u l a t i o n sc a n b e e a s i l y m a d e .
When a measurementis made in either of the meter's display modes, a pointer wi ll appear above the
a p e r t u r e f i g u r e t h a t c o r r e s p o n d st o t h e o n e s h o w n b y t h e d i g i t a l d i s p l a y i n t h e f - n u m b e r d i s p l a y m o d e . T h e
a n a l o g s c a l e i s m a r k e d i n h a l f - s t o p i n c r e m e n t s ,s o t h e p o i n t e r m a y a l s o a p p e a r b e t w e e n t w o a p e r t u r e f i g u r e s
depending upon the digital display's decimal figure. For example, if the digital display is from f/8.Oe to

Memory function
To use the memory function of the Auto Meter III, take a measurement and press the memory key.
