MR/MRS OKONKWO
FOR THEIR SURPPORT
AND ENCOURAGEMENT.
AND TO
Every body, that believes
In the oneness and
Greatness of our continent.
Never the less since my being is almost faced with hardship, I have no
doubt that somehow, some of the lines in this book will serve as a sort of
tranquilizer to those sick at heart, inspire the really struggling ones, wakeup
some of our leaders from their slumber and offer hope and fun to those who
are weary. It is therefore my wish that the messages this book tries to
convey get across to both the old, and the young ones on whom the future
depends.
In concluding this very brief introduction, I wish to stress that much as I
accept the axiom that not life that matters, but the courage one infuse into
it.
By the combined forces of the people (the society) and the government, is
to continue to breed a society where oppression and poverty will continue to
reign supreme.
ACKNOWLEGEMENTS
My thanks also go to most sincerely, all those read through the scripts. Their words
of encouragement have been very useful.
I must also thank all those who have unfailingly laboured to see it printed. Without
them, this book would not have seen the light of day. Most especially I-proclaim
press (Dorrance Publishing Co.) for publishing my poem book.

CRY OF A POET
If Chelsea F.C defender Mikel Obi, could make it from rags to riches
Why can’t I make it?
If the lizards can fall from great heights and still survived-
What stops me from making it?
If Barrack Obama could make it from so many challenges pains upsets and agony
To become the First Black president of America
Then, why can’t I make it?
I can’t go back
I must keep moving-
Until I make it
I can make it even without a dime.
7.
CREATION BY ACCIDENT.
Furu – u – u – u - ukpe!
A great fall is made
A spell of silence of confusion follows,
And no one gives a hand
But, a gentle look round;
Yet, no one cares, no one is interested
Then, a nod of the head
Yes in self- praise;
For, if no one praises me,
I should praise myself,
‘Cause only few fall from such height
Without kissing death
Furu – u – u – u – ukpe!
After a great fall,
A big move can still be made.

FALSE PROPHETS.
I Am Who I Am
This is what you are to say to the people;
“I am has sent me to you.”
This is my name forever,
The name by which I am to be remembered,
From generation to generation
14.
GOD IS SPIRIT.
You, my king, will have many sons to succeeds your ancestors as kings
And you will make them rulers over the whole earth.
My songs will keep your fame alive forever,
And everyone will praise you for all time to come.
20.
I GIVE UP; I AM TIRED OF LIVING.
I am tired of living,
No! I can’t be quiet!
I am angry and bitter
I have to speak.
But, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown still,
Because not all who laughs with you are friends
For whom the gods love seldom lasts.
