Walked

Add ED to regular verbs. The verb is the same for all persons.

Spelling:

Verbs ending in:


Like ---> Liked
E, add d.
Study Studied Consonant + y, change y i + ed.
Stop Stopped Vowel + consonant, double consonant and add ED.

Some common regular verbs are: Stay, rain, help, carry, want, play, walk, listen, love, wash, stop,
ask, look, open, study, cry, work, start, live, watch, like.

Use
We use the past simple to talk about:

Single past actions and events.


Repeated past actions and events.

E.g.: I went to USA last year.


E.g.: I always went shopping on Saturdays.

We often use a time expression with the past simple.


I went to the supermarket last Thursday / six days ago / in the evening / yesterday /on Friday.
Many verbs have irregular forms.

E.g.: We saw a good film last night.


I bought all my Christmas presents at the weekend.

To make negative sentences and questions we use the auxiliary verb: Did.
I did not walk home last night.

She didnt walk home last night.

Did you go to the party last Saturday?

Where did he go last Saturday?
