TAMUDFEQ 2.

TAMUDFEQ 2.1
TAMUDFEQ 2.1 is a differential equations package written by Art Belmonte for Texas Instruments TI-Nspire CAS
handhelds and TI-Nspire CAS computer software. It is recommended to be used with TI-Nspire CAS Operating
System 3.1.0.392. (The package will not work with non-CAS handhelds or software since they lack symbolic
capabilities.)

Command Reference --- Package

preactivated templates: library shortcuts --- PLUS inline commands
Videos: Reference --- Differential Equations
Install the package
1. Download the Package (above) to your Windows PC or Mac desktop. It contains the requisite TI-Nspire CAS
libraries. Unzip the file to extract the folder TAMUDFEQ21_TNS.
2. Now transfer the .tns files contained in TAMUDFEQ21_TNS to the TI-Nspire MyLib libraries folder.
Use TI-Nspire CAS computer software to install these .tns files on your TI-Nspire CAS handheld.
If you have TI-Nspire CAS Teacher of Student Software on your Windows PC or Mac, just use the
computer operating system to move the files.
3. Refresh your libraries.
If you have a TI-Nspire CAS Handheld, do the following in the Calculator Application.
Press the MENU key.
Choose 1: Actions.
Choose 7: Library.
Choose 1: Refresh Libraries.
If you have the TI-Nspire CAS Teacher or Software, select Refresh Libraries from the Tools menu.

Accessing TAMUDFEQ commands

When starting a new problem, run the activate command under atm_tamudfeq21 in the libraries portion of the
catalog. (It is not necessary to reactivate the package on subsequent pages of a given problem; only if you start a
new problem.)
Better yet, download preactivated templates. Unzip a folder and transfer it to the TI-Nspire Documents folder
on your handheld or computer. Template files contain 5, 10, or 15 preactivated problems. In practice, load a
preactivated template and rename it to (for example) Section 3.1 or Quiz 3, perhaps in a Differential Equations
folder. This saves you LOTS of time since entry aids are automatically set up for each problem! There are two
types of templates which contain different types of entry aids.
1. library shortcuts
2. PLUS inline commands
There are four command groups in the package. Read the Command Reference for details.
e. Eigen group: eigenvalues and eigenvectors
l. Linear group: linear differential equations; also, numerical approximations to ODE solutions
s. Laplace group: Laplace transforms
u. Utilities group: miscellaneous commands
