Dr. Miriam P. Narbarte elected VP of ACSCU-AAL
The Adventist University of the Philippines served as
host school to the 30th Association of Christian Schools,
Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency, Inc
(ACSCU-AAI) National Convention at Hotel Dominique,
Tagaytay City on May 20-22, 2015
‘With this year’s theme, ‘Developing the ASEAN Model:
Nurturing Schools in Whole Person Education’ the
annual meet was able to bring together the Department
of Education and ACSCU-AAI through the dynamic
presence of Dr. Diosdado M. San Antonio, Director of
Department of Education Region IV-A and through the
inspirational message of Dr. Emmylou B. Yanga, Director
of the Commission on Higher Education Region IV-A.
CPA Board Examinations May 2015
After three (3) working days, the result of the CPA.
Board Examination was released on May 21, 2015. Out
of the 5,959 examinees, 2,132 passed the Certified
Public Accountant Licensure Examination given by the
Board of Accountancy (BOA) in the cities of Manila,
Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, lloilo and Legazpi

AUP garnered 76.92% from the frst-akers passing
rate with 10 passers and 1 conditioned, out of the 13
fresh 95 Accountancy graduates. Among those who

‘A Welcome Program immediately followed after the
“Adventist University of the Philippines: A Snapshot"
presentation of AUP President, Dr. Francisco D, Gayoba.
The night was filed with musical renditions from AUP
Orchestra, Celestial Echoes and AUP Faculty Ensemble;
and, cultural gala from the South Pacific International
Students Association (SPISA) and the Indonesian Chorale.
There were about one hundred faculty, staff and students
who participated in the program.
On the second day, the focus shifted to the roles of the
school in promoting whole person education with Dr.

Education. The morning was concluded with Mr.
Angelito. Pedrefio's talk on. "Documentation
Requirements for Accreditation: An Update” — Mr
Pedrefio is the Executive Director of ACSCU-AA\.
‘The day was capped by a brief tour of Taal Vista
Nuvali, with the famous silent dill of the Philippine
National Police Academy (PNPA), and an afternoon snack
at the Finster Hall of AUP among other destinations.
In the evening, ACSCU-AAI commenced with the
annual business meeting with reports coming from the
President, Treasurer and Executive Director of the
association. It was also at the business meeting where
awards of accreditation were given. This yeat, AUP was
able to receive the following accreditation grants:

Master of Arts In Psychology ~ Level |
These programs shall be added to the long-list of
accredited programs of the University under the ACSCU
accrediting arm.
‘One of the highlights of the convention was the
election of anew set of board of directors for the coming
school year 2015-2016. Dr. Miriam P. Narbarte, AUP Vice
President for Academics, received the most number of
votes as member of the BOD and was subsequently
elected as the new Vice President of the Association of
Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting
‘Agency, Inc. (ACSCU-AAI)!
The association is home to some 400 accreditors
coming from 118 Christian schools all over the country.
It recognizes and commits itself to the sacred task of
providing quality Christian education and promoting
mong its members a sense of unity, understanding and
fellowship for better service to the community. @

Librarians Licensure Exam Results
PAPI ZOTS fas slated as Librarians Licensure exam,
After three working days the result was released, 75% of
first takers from AUP Library Science majors passed
making it to 61.53% passing rate for AUP where the
National passing rate was 47.03%, The Professional
Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 349 out
‘of 742 exam takers passed the Librarian Licensure
Examination given by the Board for Libratians in the
«ities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Legazpi this
April 2015,

Ms. Divinia Alon, born in Bian City, Laguna on February 14, 1954 was an active assistant
professor of the AUP Nutrition and Dietetics Department and erstwhile director of the Food
Service Department of Philippine Union College/Adventist Unversity ofthe Philippines.
Ms. lon began her ealy childhood schooling at the Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Sena and
finished her elementary education at the Binian Elementary School in 1966. She finished her
secondary education atthe Lake Shore Educational Institution also in Bifan during the years
1966-1970. She began her college life in 1971 at PUC, Baesa Campus and graduated n 1977 with
a degree, Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nuttin. Her educational attainments and eventual
Work experience started and ended in PUC/AUP.
Tn 1980, when Philippine Union College was transferred to Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, Ms
Won joined the school staff as a nutritionist working in the Food Service Department and
Consequently moved on tobe head ofthe same department from 1982 o 1988,
Ms. Alan's experiences and education subsequently landed her a teaching job atthe Nutrition
and Dietetics Department beginning June of 1988. While teaching, she found the time to attend
Seminars and workshops pertinent to her profession and athe same time give lectures in various
Seminars n her capacty 2s a teacher and member of professional roups such a8 Nutetonists

z fulfilled in 2006, earning for herself a Masters in Public Health. With this educational
advancement, she was promoted to Assistant Professor in the Nutrition and Dietetics
Department, College of Health
Fortultously, a week before the college graduation of March 2014, she was diagnosed ashaving
stage 4 brain Cancer and was forced toa sick leave. After more than one year of test from het
teaching work, she dled on May 1, 2015, survived by her sisters, nephews, and nieces.SSD Educational Council 2015

Summer Enrollment 2015
Reaches more than 2000

Summer 2015 is the last April-May session of classes in
the history of AUP. This year’s summer has an enrollment
total of 2,029. Breaking this figure down, 1,731 enrolled
in the undergraduate courses, 290 in the graduate
school, and 8 cross-enrolled. In the summer of 2014,
there were 1,907 enrollees, Do the math, AUP has been

Dr. Francisco Gayoba held an evangelistic crusade last
April 19-25, 2015 at the Covered Court, Odiongan,
Romblon with teammate Rey Laberinto, Seventy-seven
souls gave their lives to Jesus as a result of this crusade
titled "May Pagasa Pa" the subtitle of which is “Ito Ang
Salita ng Diyos”
