Feedback paper Verbal and Nonverbal Communication

The presentation delivered on the 20th of october 2014 from two IBSS students in
the third semester was about Verbal and Nonverbal Communication.
At the begining of their presentation, they started to give us a short overwie of
their topic by giving us a short description.Afterwords they gave us a short
definitions of verbal (sharing information between individuals by using speech)
and non-verbal communication (body language, facial expression, gestures, ).
Facts and relevant information about their topic for example the procedure from a
sender to a receiver ,as well as how to encode and decode a message were
delivered. Afterwords they gave example what could occure if the receiver
misunderstands something. The methodical approach was logically structured by
first giving us the definitions of the terms and then going deeper into context.
(Definition of the terms ->procedure of communication->problems)
It also would have been nice if the students introduce themselves. The listeners
were included and have contributet to the content. Because one of the students
stared occasionally at the presentation, the eye contact was getting lost from
time to time. The students were well prepared and questions were answered as
well.

The media underlined the content and graphics were inserted. The presentation
was visually appealing and very easy to read. Technichal terms were used and
explained. Sometimes it was really hard to follow the students because in the
first part of the presentation on of the students talked very fast.

The presentation ends abruptly but all in one the presentation was all right.
However, students and the presentation were not harmonious at first, but they
took a second chance to correct and impove some little mistakes they did in the
first section of their presentation. Both students were well prepared and could
answer questions easily as well as involve us students by asking us questions so
they can see if we learned something about their subject Verbal and Nonverbal
Communication.

With there topic ,Verbal and Nonverbal Communication I knew, that the
presentors will give us a short overview and a definition about verbal and non
verbal communication. The methodical approach was clear.First define terms and
then go into detail. What I missed was why is verbal and nonverbal
communication important? How to improve verbal and nonverbal
communication? What are the effects of our body language, our facial expression
and intonations? Which communication channel is the right one? In my opinion
the research question was partrly answered but questions are still open. I think
they could go more into details with communication problems. Do we all have the
same facial expression and gestures all over the same world? Do they have the
same meaning? I think they mentioned that shortly but it would have been nice if
they could go more into detail.
