Touched by the Lord

We experience the manifestation of the Lords presence in our lives
whenever we dispose ourselves to him. The Eucharist is the centre of our
lives during which we encounter the Lord and of course in our daily prayer
life.
The experiences of the two people who encountered the Lords healing in
our readings of today is something very extraordinary. It could only mean
one thing that desperate situations attract desperate actions and the
throwing of all caution to the wind. These persons could not care less about
the crowd, rather than defile Jesus by touch (Lv. 15: 25-33), it was Jesus
who brought healing to the haemorrhaging woman and life to the dead.
Our relationship with the Lord depends on the extent to which our faith
prompts and lifts us. For without faith it is impossible to please
God (Hebrews 11: 6). This same faith prompts us to acknowledge our
human limitations and weaknesses trailed by sin. Perhaps we need to make
a leap of faith and reach out to Jesus for healing in our various
circumstances of life. This is what we notice in todays Gospel reading. The
personalities in the narrative sought the Lord and with determination they
achieved their desires. Wether by haemorrhage or other physical ailments,
or even spiritual ailments, it is important for us to take a step and ask the
lord for intervention. Today Jesus extends this invitation: Come to me all
you who labour and overburdened !
