As Christians, we are to become new creatures by renewing our mind
(Romans 12:2). We are to put off the old nature, be renewed in the spirit of our mind and then put on the new man (Ephesians 4:22-24). The Lenten Season which begins today offers us an opportunity to look into our lives, knowing where we are not showing Godly character and doing away with such. In essence what we should do is to put ourselves in a refining process so that we can become a better person. Therefore, in the Forty (40) fasting days, I will enumerate Forty (40) things that you need to do away with i.e. throw into your life’s trash basket. I sincerely hope that you will use them to look into your life and become transformed. I encourage you to seek the face of GOD as you do this, knowing fully well that it is GOD that will supply the strength needed to be transformed. You can always send them to you friends also or share this on your wall. GOD bless you (Amen).
DAY 1 (17TH FEBRUARY 2010)
DO AWAY WITH EVIL ASSOCIATION An evil association is friendship or relationships which have negative effects on our character, actions whether spiritually, emotionally or physically. Facts you must know: 1. We are influenced by those we associate with: Keep company with the wise and you will become wise. If you make friends with stupid people, you will be ruined. (Proverbs 13:20 Today’s English Version) 2. Associate with those who will influence you for good: So may you walk in the way of good men, and keep to the paths of the [consistently] righteous (the upright, in right standing with God) (Proverbs 2:20 Amplified Bible) 3. GOD warns us against associating with evil men: "Be very careful never to make treaties with the people in the land where you are going. If you do, you soon will be following their evil ways”. Ex 34:12 New Living Translation) 4. Bad friends will lead us into a way that is not good: A man of violence entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good (Proverbs 16:29 Revised Standard Version) 5. Do not desire to be with evil people: For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked... Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. (Ps 73:3, 17, 18 New King James Version) 6. You need conviction to do way with evil men: I do not sit with deceitful men, nor do I consort with hypocrites; I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked. (Ps 26:4- 5 New International Version) 7. Walking with bad company brings punishment: And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD (2 Chron 19:2 King James Version) 8. We should even boycott Christians who continue in disobedience: What I meant was that you should not associate with a person who calls himself a brother but is immoral or greedy or worships idols or is a slanderer or a drunkard or a thief. Don't even sit down to eat with such a person. (1 Cor 5:11 Today’s English Version) 9. Pray for GOD’s guidance in avoiding evil association: Take away my lust for evil things; don't let me want to be with sinners, doing what they do, sharing their delicacies. (Ps 141:4 The Living Bible) Dear Brethren, for you to become a better person, you need to avoid evil association. If you have friends that are leading you away from GOD, prayerful move away from them and seek to be with righteous people. GOD bless you.
