1.3 Updated

2014-11-20 L7 MHA Configuration Work Instruction for RIC

Prerequisite:
Prior to starting L7 commissioning/audit, verify the antenna plumbing from latest site built drawings.
Optus/eJV site built drawings can be downloaded from one following locations.
1. \\nsn-intra.net\eefs\OPTUS\Plumbing diagram for MHA checks
2. VHA Track 3G
3. Optus MNIS
Please contact Project Manager or concerned State managers in case of any conflicting or missing information.

Description:
Majority of L7 MHA sites are built on following 5 scenarios
1. L7 controlled MHA site.
2. L7-U9 shared MHA, controlled by U9.
3. L7-U9-VHA850 shared MHA, controlled by VHA850.
4. Optus CCU controlled MHA.
5. VHA CCU controlled MHA
MHA settings in L7 BTS will be same for scenario 2 to 5. Details below

Scenario-1: L7 controlled MHA site.

In this scenario L7 MHA is not shared with U9 NodeB (the MHA is connected directly to L7 only).
L7 AISG and DC Voltage must be set.

BTS should auto detect the MHA , change of Antenna Line Settings is not required.

Scenario-2: L7-U9 shared MHA, controlled by U9.

Setting:
1.Select DC voltage onto FRPA ANT 1, 3, 5 to provide DC redundancy in case of U9 BTS failure.
2. No AISG selected as U9 will own AISG interface.
3. Choose MHA in use and set MHA gain 13dB in all FRPA legs
4. MHA type is set to other
5. Enter MHA details as seen on U9.

Scenario 3/4/5: L7-U9-VHA850 shared MHA, controlled by VHA850/ Optus-CCU controlled MHA/ VHA-CCU
controlled MHA
In all given scenarios L7 MHA setting process will be same as Scenario-2, except that source of MHA product info will
change. Next section provide steps to obtain MHA details for manual entry.

Steps to find MHA Product code:

Refer Site plumbing diagram to figure out the MHA controllers

1.

If MHA is controlled by U9 BTS then login to U9 and check the auto-detected MHA product code and serial
numbers

2.

For VHA lead sites (Where VHA-U850 BTS share same antenna line as Optus L7/U9), please contact VHA
NOC for MHA product code and serial number details.

3.

If CCU (Andrew or Kathrein or else), then login to CCU and check the auto-detected (or manually entered)
MHA product code or serial number. CCU access IPs are provided in UMTS DD sheet.

4.

Capture the Connection Information Protocol Version (i.e. AISG 1.0 / AISG 2.0 )

Note:
Expected MHA product codes (but other/older/newer are still possible):
E15R02P15 900MHz | 13dB gain (for U900 NodeB only!!) please check plumbing diagram.
This MHA should not be shared with L700 eNB. Do not commission L7 MHA with this details!!
If the plumbing diagram shows that the MHA is shared between U9 and L7, but the auto detected MHA type on U9
NodeB or CCU is E15R02P15, than mark the L7 eNB as MHA mismatch.
E15R02P26 850MHz | 13dB gain (VHA only)
E15R02P27 700MHz | 13dB gain (for L700 eNB only!!) this type should not be detected on U900 NodeB
E15R02P28 700+900MHz | 13dB gain
E15R02P29 700+850+900MHz | 13dB gain
E15R02P30 850+900MHz | 13dB gain (U850/900 NodeB only!!) please check plumbing diagram if this MHA
shared with L700

MHA Setting example for Scenario 2-5

Re-commission the L7 eNB with the above actual information as seen on the other network elements (MHA in Use,
Product Code, Serial Number, MHA Gain (13dB).

MHA should be configured as Other on all FRPA ANTs, pairing ANT1/2 3/4 and 5/6 using gain specific to MHA type.
MHA gain is 13 dB.

Note: If you are unable to get serial numbers. Please use as below.
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 1 = 1
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 2 = 1
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 3 = 2
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 4 = 2
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 5 = 3
FRPA 1.6.1 ANT 6 = 3
Additional Rx gain should be 0 as MHA gain is entered.
