18th May 2015

Dear Parent/Carer and Student,

Sixth Form Wider Learning Week

Monday 6th July- Friday 10th July 2015
I am writing to inform you about our plans for Year 12 students during Wider Learning Week, which takes place from
Monday 6th July Friday 10th July 2015. A full timetable is attached to this letter. On Monday 6th July, it is compulsory
for all Year 12 students to attend the Sixth Form UCAS and Work-Related Learning sessions, even if presently they
do not think they wish to apply to university. Please note Level 2 students are only required to attend sessions on
Monday 6th July, students will have an opportunity to attend the Wider Learning week next year if they choose to
progress to Level 3.
The aims of the sessions are:

To introduce students to the process of applying to university

To register students on the UCAS website and support them in completing the personal details section

To support students in completing a first draft of their personal statements, ensuring it is uploaded to the
UCAS website

To help students produce a personal CV

To prepare students for interview (job or University)

Students are expected to arrive at school for 8.45am on Monday 6th July, with activities commencing in the Sixth Form
Study Room. Students will then follow the attached timetable, with their activities determined by their allocated group
(also attached). Students will need to bring a USB memory stick and details of their examination results, including
GCSE, to the sessions in the Library on Thursday 9th July. Please be aware that students will be allocated time to
complete a draft of their personal statement. Students who do not use this time for the intended purpose will not be
able to enrol for Year 13.
Parents/carers are also invited to the Higher Education/Apprenticeship Fair, which takes place on Monday 6th July,
between 4.00 6.30pm. This will give both parents/carers and students the opportunity to talk to exhibitors from various
universities, businesses and colleges.

Sixth Form Calendar

I would also like to take this opportunity to write to you regarding some important dates for August and September:
Summer Examination Results

These will be issued to students on Thursday 13th August 2015 at 10.30am. Enrolment for Year 13 will take
place in the Study Room once students have received their results.
To enrol to Year 13, pass grades in three subjects is required, unless a student is on a supported pathway.
Autumn Term Starts

Autumn Term starts for Year 13 on Friday 4th September 2016, students are expected in school at 1:45pm to
attend an assembly and an induction period with form tutors. Failure to attend, without good reason, will be
an indication to the school that students will not be resuming their studies at Isleworth & Syon.

A2 lessons will resume on Monday 7th September 2016.

Thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,

Mr J Doyle, Sixth Form Leader
