Mr. Myers Mermel

Mermel and McLain LLC

New York, NY 10152

Dear Mr. Mermel,

This deep and prolonged recession has hurt all New Yorkers. Currently New
York State Democratic law-makers have continued to raise taxes, to increase
spending, and to threaten the insolvency of the State. The deepening fiscal
crisis is projected to reach a staggering $20 Billion shortfall by 2013.

We, as leaders in the Republican Party, are known for finding solutions. The
Republican Party has, and always will be, the most open and progressive Party.
We are receptive to your new ideas and to the idea of your candidacy for
Lieutenant Governor. We know you are sincere in your commitment to create a
better State for all New Yorkers.

Your 25 years of experience in finance and commercial real estate has led you
to move over 200,000 jobs into and within New York State. Your diverse client
base has been some of the largest employers in New York. Your intent has
been to create a better business environment and to attract new jobs. As the
exclusive real estate advisor in 2001-2002 to Governor Pataki and Chairman
Gargano in the resettlement and redevelopment of Lower Manhattan in the
aftermath of 9/11, you demonstrated your ability to effectively combine
expertise, insight, and compassion in the service of New Yorkers.
You have been an effective State Chair for Mike Huckabee in 2008 with the
coordination of over 3,000 volunteers. Your service on the Eristoff Republican
Reform Commission also was instrumental in allowing the Republican Party to
identify new and creative solutions to difficult issues.

Your bold ideas, strong leadership, and commitment to balanced and fair fiscal
policies and job creation are why we are asking you to run for Lieutenant
Governor of New York. While we realize the Governor will ultimately choose his
running-mate we encourage you to turn what would be a politically-motivated
choice into a powerful platform to bring jobs to New York State.

We know you will take a principled stand for the benefit of the people. You will
truly fight to create an environment where businesses can thrive and where
sustained opportunities can exist for New Yorkers.

Sincerely,
Honorable Robert Christman Honorable Debra Preston
