The Penicuik Turner Prize
The PCAA annual show is open to all and a selected artist will be awarded
Penicuik's Turner Prize, donated by Turners Blacksmiths, Penicuik.
There will also be an award for the work of art voted for by the public. A trophy for
the Peoples Choice has been donated by PCAA and designed by Jan Miller
Judge for the Penicuik Turner Prize is Damian Callan
Application Deadline
Works must be received within dates and times allocated:
Thursday 3rd September from 2.00pm till 4.00pm and from 7.00pm till 9.00pm
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
General
We will endeavour to show at least one piece by each entrant, however this may
not be possible due to size / space restrictions. The Exhibitions Committee
reserves the right to reject works, its decision is final.

All work submitted must be available for the duration of the Exhibition.
All work not previously shown at PCAA is eligible for entry. Pieces, which have been
shown previously at the PCAA, will be rejected.
Any unframed or poorly
framed/mounted pieces will automatically be rejected. Stretched canvasses with
adequate attachments for hanging will be acceptable
Pieces not shown can be collected either at the end of the opening day or at the
end of the exhibition, see return of work.
Work, once placed, cannot be removed until the close of the exhibition.

Entry Procedure
Up to three artworks may be submitted by each entrant.
Please attach a label to each artwork, ensure this is filled in correctly as
information entered will appear on our pricing information.
There is a small entry charge of 3 per item or 2 for PCAA members
TIMETABLE FOR EXHIBITION
All artists participating are invited to the opening which will be on Saturday the 5th
September. There will be a short concert by the Castaways at which the audience
will be seated and the exhibition will be open to general viewing at approx.
2.30pm. Voting for the Peoples Choice will open at 2.30pm.
The Turner prize and Peoples Choice will be announced between 2.00pm and
4.00pm on Sunday the 13th September. We very much hope that all exhibitors and
their friends will be able to come to these event.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10.00am till 4.00pm Monday 7 th
September till Saturday 12th September.
Specifications
Each artwork should be authenticated by the artist (i.e. signed and dated) in an
appropriate place.
Each 2D artwork should be framed (in order to protect and present the work
appropriately).
Frames must be durable for handling purposes; clip frames will not be accepted for
submission.
All frames must have suitable hangings; with string / picture wire and ready to
hang
Composite artworks must be presented within one frame, or if canvases, must
comprise of no more than 2 sections which will be classed as 2 submissions.
The artist is responsible for ensuring their work meets these criteria.
Care of Work
The utmost care will be taken of all work submitted for selection, however, the
organisers of the Penicuik Turner Prize Exhibition will not be liable for any damage
caused to work which occurs in the normal course of handling, whether such
damage is caused by the organisers, staff or otherwise.
Insurance is the responsibility of the artist, The PCAA does not insure works.

Return of Work
PLEASE COLLECT UNSOLD ART WORKS on Sunday the 13th September between
4.00pm and 6.00pm
Works not collected by this date cannot be stored by the PCAA, who will accept no
responsibility for such artworks and their resulting condition.
Sale of Work
PCAA takes 15% commission on all sales from artists who are members of the
Association and 25% from non-members.
All sales are subject to commission during the continuance of the Exhibition,
whether through the PCAA or otherwise.
The price shown on the label is the price paid by the purchaser. Sales made
through the PCAA will have precedence over any private sale made, while the work
is exhibited.
All sales should be directed to the PCAA.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership of PCAA has many benefits: reduced entry fee; reduced commission;
reduced ticket prices for events throughout the year.
Membership costs 15 standard, 7.50 for unwaged, and 25 for family
membership.
