Overview
Before installing the ANM2000, you need to be familiar with the ANM2000s
working mode, and to install the software matching the working mode, so as to
ensure that the installation can be completed successfully.
This chapter includes the following contents:

1.1

Working Mode
At present, the ANM2000 uses the Client end-Server end working mode.
When the network maintenance engineers are far from both the access equipment
and the network management system server, this Client end-Server end working
mode can be used to access the server via the Client end for achieving the
purpose of managing the equipment. In this case, the ANM2000s Client end and
Sever end can be installed on one computer, or respectively on two computers.
When both the Client end and server end are installed on a computer, this is also
called a stand-alone mode.

Configuration Requirements

1.2.1

Requirements of Hardware Configuration

The requirements of the hardware configuration for the ANM2000s Server end

How to Handle the Invalid Configuration File

Question
The etc\ONCONFIG. instance name file under the Informix installation directory
has been modified, but the configuration file is still invalid. How to handle this
problem?

Answer
The probable reason of this is described as follows:
The system only uploads the ONCONFIG. instance name file during the
initialization operation. You can click

to start the Informix IDS service

normally, but in this case, the ONCONFIG. instance name file cannot be uploaded.

The correct start method is described as follows: Double-click the Informix IDS
service, input iy in the start parameter item, and then click Start.

How

to

Handle

the

Long-Period

No

Response from the ANM2000

Question
During the network management operation, the ANM2000 does not respond in a
long period. How to handle this problem?

Answer
The probable reason of the long-period no response from the ANM2000 is that the
Informix service stops after it is started. The configuration parameters of the
database can influence certain resources of the database; if the configuration
parameters of the database have errors, certain resources may be inadequate, and
this can lead to the condition that the service cannot be started normally.
Use the notebook or the UE to open the onconfig.ol_test file under C:
\informix\etc, and check various configuration items in this file according to Table
5-1.

How to Handle the Inadequate Disk Space

Question
When the operator tries to create the database tablespace, the system gives a
prompt that the disk space is inadequate. How to handle this problem?

Answer
After the installation of the ANM2000, you can execute the following command to
create the small-size / medium-size / large-size tablespace respectively. The
created tablespace occupies the disk space of 5 G, 15 G, and 73 G respectively.
D:\AEMS\Server\andb\createspaces s t|-m|-l
You should select to create the suitable tablespace on demand according to Table

How

to

Handle

the

Data

Exporting

Importing Failure
Question
When needing to export / import the configuration data file (such as for the upgrade
of the ANM2000), how to handle the data exporting / importing failure?

Answer
When exporting / importing the configuration data file, the ANM2000 needs to use a
temporary tablespace; if the tablespace in the database is inadequate, the data
exporting / importing failure may occur.
If the ANM2000 version has been modified, the format of the configuration data
may also change; in this case, you need to convert the data format.
