Morning Prayer @ 8:30 a.m. – All worship participants gather for prayer each Sunday at 8:30
a.m. As we grow into a house of prayer for all people, you are welcome to join them any Sunday!

Sunday's Cool Student Registration – Please stop by the registration table in the lobby to re-
gister your 4 year old - 5th grader for Sunday's Cool. SoJ asks parents to update this information
annually in the event of changing contact information, allergies/health concerns, and grade levels.

First Communion – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion. A two
session class for parents and children will be held this summer. Sign-up at the welcome Center!

SoJ Directory Update – We are updating our SoJ Participant Directory. Please take a moment
today to review your information in the current directory posted at the Welcome Center. Mark that
it is correct or make any corrections. If you’re not listed and wish to be, please add your informa-
tion. A new Business Service Directory is also being created. Edit and/or add any info you’d like
shared.

No Experience Necessary Study Meets Today – Join us from 10:45am-11:45am in the Youth
Room for an adult study for people who have attended the 9 a.m. service. Led by Jill Heroux and
Scott Krogmann No Experience Necessary is designed to be full of fresh insights for everyone.

Journey Group Meets Today – The Life Liners meet for Prayer, Bible Reading, and Fellowship
today in the classroom following the 10:45 a.m. service. All are welcome. See Leon Wheeler.

Wednesday Night Live! – SoJ’s mid-week faith and friendship building activity night!
6:15-7 p.m. Dinner: Hot Dogs, Potato Salad. Donation: $3. Sign up at Welcome Center!

SoJ Women – Upcoming Events!

• “Lunch and Laugh” with Holly Jezek Saturday! All women are invited to bring a lunch and
learn to laugh for the “health of it”. Experience laughter without humor or jokes. The event is
next Saturday, 1-3 p.m. in the Splash Zone.

• New Women’s Journey Group! Sign up at the Welcome Center if you’re interested in meeting
either Sunday or Monday evenings every two weeks beginning this month. After personal daily
Bible reading and reflection, this will be a time to gather with sisters in Christ to share our joys
and struggles as we live out our faith in our daily lives.

Hispanic Ministry Team Meeting Sunday – SoJ’s Hispanic Ministry Team will meet next Sunday
from 12:30 pm to 1:30pm. Lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in outreach to this important
segment of our community is invited to share their gifts, talents and ideas with us. If you have any

L.E.A.D. Leadership Development Group Interest Sign-Up – Pastor Jeff is in the process of
selecting this year’s 12 L.E.A.D. participants…a 24 week faith building and leadership
development journey. If you’d like to be considered, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon.

Hispanic Worship Resumes September 16th – A modified form of worship will resume Sunday,
September 16th at 1:00pm beginning a new bilingual sermon and Bible Study series entitled La
Promesa: Encuentros Con el Dios Vivo (The Promise: Encounters with the Living God). We will
reflect on Jim Cymbala’s book La Promesa: Pidan Y Recibiran (The Promise of Answered Prayer).
Please share the news about this exciting new series with your Hispanic friends and neighbors.

Women’s Book Club – SoJ’s Book Club meets Tuesday September 18th at 7:15pm to discuss “The

Campus Ministry at UCF – The Young Adult Community at SoJ works with Lutheran Campus
Ministry at UCF. If you are a student at UCF and would like to get more information about LCM,

High School Affirmation of Faith October 28 – High school youth who have never publicly af-
firmed their faith and desire to do so are invited to be confirmed at SoJ on Reformation Sunday,
October 28th. Several Wednesday night meetings with Pastor Jeff will be scheduled in September
and October to prepare. A sign-up sheet has been posted at the Welcome Center.

Calling all SPLASH ZONE Parents! We are starting the Kidmo video series again for the next
ten weeks. We are encouraging all parents to assist the emcee with supervision once every three
or four weeks. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Zone. Thank you!

Interfaith Hospitality Network Sign-Up Begins Next Sunday – Sign up begins next Sunday
for our next hosting of homeless families, September 30-October 7. There have been some
changes, so stop by the IHN table and read through the job descriptions. Prayerfully ponder giving
your time for this important ministry. If you have not helped before, please stop by the IHN TRI-
FOLD to see where your talents could fit in. We have received many praises from the families we
have hosted, so prepare to sign up next Sunday as we follow the words of Jesus to serve him by
serving others in need. Reminder: All volunteers, including cooks, servers and hosts, are required
to attend an orientation session, September 12, 7-9 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in
Winter Park. If you are planning to volunteer and have not attended an orientation session, con-

Additional Volunteers Urgently Needed – If you are able, please consider helping out in the
following ways at SoJ:
• Cleaning Team Volunteers: Meet Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. See Bob Belk today!
The cleaning team schedule for September/October is posted at the Welcome Center.
• 2nd Service Bookstore Volunteers: Before and after the 10:45 a.m. worship. See Diane Belk.
• Tech Booth Volunteers: Serve one Sunday a month on sound or computer. Training provided.

• Air Conditioning Installation Helpers: As you may have noticed, several of our A/C units
have been less than efficient lately. These “original” units are nearly 12 years old and need to
be replaced. Volunteers are needed to help with installation. Sign-up at the Welcome Center!
Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are
needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m.
Wednesdays. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions? Call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

SoJ Quilters – In September, the QUILTERS will meet on Monday, September 17th at 9:30 a.m.
Please join us and plan to go to lunch together. We also need volunteers to cut squares and sew

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth are now able to recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell
phones. Please bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center
and drop them into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Children’s Choir Resumes Wednesday – Joy Shively, our Children’s Choir director, is back and
will resume Children’s Choir rehearsals Wednesday, from 7-8 p.m. in the worship center. All
children in elementary school are invited to be a part of the group.

Joy Singers and Joyful Noise will not meet this week. Regular rehearsals resume next week for
the Joyful Noise (Worship Team) on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – The Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
