SUMMARY OF SELECTED PROBLEM STUDENT


PROBLEMS
Danial is Year 6 pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kepala Batas. He is 12 years old and will sit an important
examination this year which is UPSR. Daniel is the only child for Mr Arif and Mrs Saadiahtul which each trying to
find money for a comfortable life. Danial can be categorized as being easy to obtain what he wants as soon as
possible. He did not suffer financial problems because every day he will receive money given by his parents. His
father was a customs officer lived outside the area and his mother was a factory supervisor who works by shift.
Hence this provides the freedom for him to make what he wants when Danial was left together with maid in the
absence of his parents. He also likes to hang out with friends who are older than him at his_ residential areas and
he will do any activity together. At school, Danial is a student who has a modest achievement. In addition, Danial
also have discipline problems that led to his academic reputation declined. Through the results of my interview
with Daniel, I found him like truancy and his attendance records less favorable because in a week there are 2 or 3
days he did not attend school.

ANALISI SWOT

At first, Danial feel embarrassed and ashamed to tell the cause of these problems, but after persuasion
and self motivated, he wanted to tell the story little by little throughout the interviews conducted by several times.
Therefore, he has confessed the problems source which was he was influenced by his colleagues to visit "cyber
cafe and if he did not participate, he will not be included in the group formally. In fact, Danial also acknowledges
that this behavior has become usual since he was in Year 5 but not so much.
Danial told me that he would easily get bored and felt sleepy in school and during teaching and learning
take place. This has caused him to seek satisfaction outside. That was the reasopn he did not attend school This
action is increasingly difficult to contain when his parents did not take any action against Danial because the
reason was Danial was their only child and if they did not comply with his request, he will begin to rebel.
Therefore, his parents give freedom to hang out freely anywhere on condition he did not do something involving
the police . This has resulted Danial act as he pleased and when the teacher told his parents about the problem,
Danial's parents ignore the advice from the teacher and even scolded her class teacher with the reason the class
teachers are too busy taking care of Danial's problem alone. In fact, when they received letter from the school, the
parents put the blame on teachers because the teachers did not know how to attract the attention of Danial's
interest to come to school and failed to create more meaningful learning.
In addition, due to this continuing attitude, Danial's impact on academic achievement may be disrupted
and ultimately affect the exams that will be faced by him. According to the records of his attendance, Danial's has
missed several important program organized by the school for Year 6 pupils to prepare for the UPSR later.
