On June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court

ruled that the U.S. Constitution provides same-gender couples the right to
marry, considered a historic triumph

to the American gay rights movement.

However, the decision is but surely a
tragedy and detriment to humankind for
all time to come, placing us at the Hand

of Gods wrath.
The court ruled 5-4 that the Constitution guarantees due process and equal
protection under the law mandating that
states cannot ban same-gendermarriages. With this ruling, gay marriage
becomes legal in all 50 states.
The decision came in time for the
subject to be addressed by eminent
scholar and Imam Al-Sheikh Syed
Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani Hashmi in
the Friday sermon that was telecast
nationally to the Muslims of Americas
(TMOA) congregations. Al-Sheikh
Gilani speaking via Skype addressed
the decision as making it The darkest
day in human history. He declared that
this day was a black day in the history
of mankind and that it was the day that
humanity sunk to a level of debasement
and shame. We are now living in an
era of total degradation and immorality with a disregard and rejection of
the Almightys divine law as clearly
established in the Bible and Quran. He
resolved that every nation and religion
on earth should remember this day and
memorialize it every year as Black
Day.

The consequence of this decision

is mankind suffering the wrath of
Allah. Al-Sheikh Gilani recounted the
Quranic and Biblical stories of people
in the past that Allah has vanquished
due to their disobedience to Him and
violations of the laws of righteousness
and morality. History is our example.
During the time of H. Dawud (David)
when the Jews were enjoined to uphold
the Sabbath by leaving off work, but
when fish would come only on the
Sabbath they chose to violate divine
law and fished anyway. There were
three groups in the particular town
at this time. The first group were the
violators. The next was a group that
followed a pious Rabbi that stayed
away from the violators, but did nothing to stop them and simply closed
their doors saying,We dont want to
get involved. The last group was one
of common people, who would confront
and fight with the violators of the Sabbath asking them, Are you not afraid
of Almighty Allah? He may send wrath
upon you like He sent before you when

without first identifying him. ISIS, the
scourge of the Middle East and beyond,
claims to be the Islamic State, yet its
reprehensible acts oppose the fundamental tenets of Islam. ISIS is a fraud
and has nothing to do with Islam.
Muslim leaders and organizations
worldwide have condemned and disowned ISIS. ISIS is nothing more than
a terrorist group with strong ties to
Israel, designed to discredit Islam and to
complete the Zionist agenda. Evidence
points to the Israeli Zionists and the
Mossad as the masterminds behind the
creation of ISIS. Consequently, tactics
employed by ISIS mirror those of the
International Zionist Movement. For

centuries, theyve used schemes of violence to create puppet nations to do their

bidding; undermining governments by
usurping their power and controlling
their people and resources.
In April, the Iraqi Army seized Israeli supplied weapons from captured
ISIS positions. Iraqi oil reserves commandeered by ISIS are sold to Israel
through the black market at bargain
prices. ISIS has a budget that far exceeds that of any other known terrorist organization to date. Their access
to a well-oiled social media network
allows them to skillfully disseminate
propaganda and recruit ignorant individuals. It is an undeniable fact that the
creation, facilitation, arming, training

and logistical support of ISIS is provided by Israel to execute their plans

for domination in the Middle East and
subsequently the world. Israel is clearly
reaping the benefits of the political and
social turmoil in the Middle East instigated by ISIS.
Israelis have been previously caught
impersonating and framing Muslims
with the intent to vilify Islam. Dr.
Albert D. Pastore, discusses in his book,
Stranger than Fiction, that in 2000,
Israeli Intelligence officials detained
eleven people suspected of being part
of an Al-Qaeda hijacking conspiracy.

A Tragic Massacre. And Another That Nearly Was.

The Massacre

The world is now undoubtedly aware of the terrorist massacre
that claimed the lives of 9 American
parishioners of African descent as they
participated in Bible study in Charleston, South Carolina on June 17. The
alleged murderer, 21 year old Dylann
Roof, made no efforts to conceal his
white supremacist views, thus his alleged actions are being investigated as
a hate crime. Strikingly, Roof admitted
in his confession that part of his motivation was to start a race war. His sentiments, sadly, are shared by many others
who would like to see a destabilized
America, divided by race and embroiled
in sectarian strife.
As is typically the case when
Americans witness others having fallen
victim to senseless acts of violence, we
come together to collectively mourn
those weve lost, and also to renew our
desire to uphold true American values
of peace, tolerance and freedom for

all. This refreshing outpouring of the

human spirit was on full display in
Charleston in the aftermath of the terrorist attack.
During the weekend of June 20-21,
a delegation from The Muslims of
America Inc. in Holy Islamville (York,
SC) traveled to Charleston, along with
thousands of other Americans, to pay
respect to the victims and their families,
convey condolences, pray for peace,
and stand in solidarity with our Christian brothers and sisters in the face of
evil, hate and bigotry. This excursion
began with an interfaith prayer service
attended by members of various faiths
and denominations. It also included
visiting Emmanuel African Methodist
Episcopal (AME) Church, where the
tragedy occurred days prior. As Americans from all walks of life gathered to
pay their respects and try to make sense
of a senseless act, it was self-evident
that the pain and sadness knew not race,
nor religion. Moreover, the indisputable

esprit de corps was a collective resolution to not allow hate to be greater than
love and to not allow the darkness to
take over the light.
The One That Nearly Was.
Just over a week prior to this memorable gathering in Charleston, a similar
spirit of harmony and solidarity was
felt some 200 miles to the north in
York, SC. Nearly 20 local Pastors and
religious leaders, along with members
of the media, visited Holy Islamville in
York County for a tour and interfaith
luncheon. This gathering, which was
a resounding success, was born out of
a courageous petition that had previously been signed by 24 local Pastors in
response to the rising tide of Islamophobia, as well as in reference to a specific
incident that could have potentially
claimed the lives of innocent Muslim
men, women and children.
Muslims in Islamberg, New York,
a sister community to Holy Islamville,
were traumatized to learn details sur-

rounding the April 10, 2015 arrest of

63-year-old Robert Doggart. Doggart, a former candidate for the United
States Congress, planned to kill the
residents of Islamberg and burn down
their buildings, including their school
and mosque. He also threatened to kill
any law enforcement officers who got
in the way. Federal officials arrested
Doggart, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, after wiretaps, an FBI informant
and Doggarts social media accounts
chronicled Doggart making numerous
threats of violence and planning his
attack, which included the use of AR15s, M-4s, M-16s, shotguns, snipers,
stand-off gunners and militia members.
Doggart ultimately pled guilty to interstate communication of threats and
was allowed to leave prison with supervised release. For reasons that remain
unclear, there was no press conference
held by federal authorities regarding
neither his arrest, nor his guilty plea and

Oppression;
American
Muslims Take
Their Case to the
White House
Muslims the world over are dealing
with diverse situations of war, oppression, shrinking economics and resources,
and genocide, as is evident with the
Rohingya of Burma. In most instances,
the harshest oppression is experienced
by those Muslims living in non-Muslim
societies. And it is most unfortunate that
there are few from the Muslim majorities
to come to their aid with solutions for
their situations.
One such case is that of the Muslims
in Xinjiang, China. Chinese authorities
have come under international criticism for banning teachers, students and
other civil servants from fulfilling their
religious obligation by fasting during the
holy month of Ramadan.
An emergency meeting chaired by
the Vice Chancellor of the International
Quranic Open University (IQOU), El
Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani,
was convened via video conference in
an effort to find solutions for Chinas
oppressed Muslim population. Meeting
attendees included: Maulana Hussein
Abu Bakr Qadree (NY), Maulana Muhammad Abdul Mumin Qadree (NY),
Maulana Husain Abdallah Qadree (NY),
Maulana Atiq A. Shahid Qadree (SC),
Maulana Khalil Abdus Salam Qadree
(VA), Maulana Sulaiman Abdur Rahim
Qadree (TN), Maulana Mahmoud Sidibe
Qadree (Mali) and Maulana Muaz
Abdul-Haqq Qadree (Senegal).
The Ulema urge Chinas government
to end oppression of the Uighur people
and the acts of aggression leading to
the genocide of its minority population.
Their resolve was clear; the government of China should be reproached
and protests lodged for the denial of the
right of Chinese Muslims to practice
their religion. The Ulema collectively
condemned the acts of naked aggression contrary to the peaceful teachings
of Islam and belief in one Almighty
Creator and the inhumanity fostered by
the Chinese government. They demand
that these offenses must cease and the
restoration of Uighur rights commence
without delay.
The denial of these firm requests will
result in the Muslims in the United States
and other countries initiating a boycott
of Chinese-made products, and in the organizing of protest rallies in front of the
United Nations, in Washington, DC and
the capitals of other nations.
The Grand Imam of world renowned
Al-Azhar University in Egypt, Ahmed
al-Tayeb, has also condemned Chinas
atheist Communist Party, who blame
religious extremism rather than cruel
and unjust laws for the Uighur minority
unrest in Xinjiang.
The American Muslims are very supportive of obtaining relief for Muslims
in China from tyranny because they too
have a case of hatred and abuse suffered
at the hands of so-called security authorities, private militia and home-grown
terrorists claiming to be patriots. However, the official law of the land gives
Muslims in the U.S. the right to practice
their religion under their constitution.

British News Report Uncovers Indias Role Funding

the Muttahida Qaumi Movement

Funding and militant training

amounts to state sponsorship of terrorism IP/ New York - A shocking report
from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has revealed evidence
that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
(MQM) of Pakistan, led by the notorious Altaf Hussain, receives funding
from India. Confirmed by UK authorities after conducting lengthy,recorded
interviews with senior MQM members
related to allegations of money-laundering by the MQM, the subjects questioned admitted that India also provides
training to MQM workers, in addition
to financial backing. The report, cited
by Dawn News, states that ...a Pakistani official has told the BBC that India
has trained hundreds of MQM militants
in explosives, weapons and sabotage,
over the last 10 years, in camps in north
and north-east India.
Founded as a socio-political vehicle
for Urdu-speaking Muslims who had
fled to East Pakistan (Muhajirs) from
Hindu-majority India after the partition, the MQM party spawned from a
college group to currently claim a membership of over four million, with their
power base in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Twenty-four MQM members serve in
the Pakistan National Assembly, affording it considerable political influence
there, in the mainstream and through
the dark corridors of coercive backstreet politics as well.
The Dawn report mentions that a
Pakistan Senior Superintendent of
Police announced, in the spring of 2015,
the arrest two MQM workers who had
allegedly been trained by the RAW, Indias secret intelligence agency.
The notoriety of MQM, particularly
its militant armed wing, stems primarily from the abrasive Altaf Hussain
himself, who for decades has been
under the scrutiny of Pakistani and British law enforcement officials as an instigator of violence. He is under suspicion
of involvement in innumerable crimes,
including at least 32 prosecuted murders of adversaries or those who spoke
out against Hussain and the MQM,
widespread extortion, drug trafficking
and more. His treacherous words and
views, which include demands for the
separation of Karachi from Pakistan, as
well as the lawless violence attributed

to the militant MQM on his watch,

precipitated an attempt on his life, after
which he sought political asylum in
the UK. In 1992, Hussain was granted
citizenship, despite his clearly unlawful
and controversial activities, including
active warrants for his arrest and criminal convictions in Pakistan.
From the UK, Hussain continues to
incite violence with critical, incendiary
speeches delivered to his gathered followers by telephone, as documented in
the Dawn report: In one such speech
he had this message for TV anchors:
If you dont stop the lies and false
allegations that damage our partys
reputation, then dont blame me, Altaf
Hussain, or the MQM if you get killed
by any of my millions of supporters.
Most of his threats have been aimed at
people in Pakistan, but at least one was
directed at the UK journalist Azhar
Javaid, who asked a question once too
often. At a press conference in September 2011 Hussain warned Javaid that his
body bag was ready.
The Dawn report mentions a 2013
BBC documentary that ...included
video clips of Mr Hussain making
violent statements, an outline of the
death of assassinated party leader
Imran Farooq, as well as interviews
with a former MQM leader, a policeman accusing the party of the murder
of party leader Farooq Sattar. In Jan
2014, another BBC news report had
identified the names of two suspects in
the Dr. Imran Farooq murder case, and
that based on the documents received
from Pakistani officials, the two suspects were identified, for the first time,
as Mohsin Ali Syed and Muhammad
Kashif Khan, who were staying on student visa in England.
Hussain has been implicated in the
murder of thousands of Pakistanis carried out by his henchmen. His violent,
threatening rants have shocked those
aware, yet lack of authoritative translations of his threats have stymied
police in prosecuting Hussain. The UK
Guardian mentions: Partly because of
the difficulty of establishing unchallengeable translations of Hussains
words, it might be months before the
police decide whether to recommend a prosecution. In the meantime,
there is talk of a private prosecution.

Long-time MQM critic George Galloway, former Member of Parliament

(MP), recently set up a fund to pay the
legal fees of such an initiative. British
judges have found that the MQM is a
violent, criminal organisation. In 2010,
a Karachi-based police officer sought
asylum in the UK claiming the MQM
was threatening to kill him in revenge
for his having registered a case against
one of its members. The judge, Lord
Bannatyne, granted asylum and in his
judgment accepted that: the MQM
has killed over 200 police officers who
stood up to them in Karachi.
Stepped-up investigations into the
Imran Farooq murder, led by the UK
Counter Terrorism Command, yielded
documents that supported the confessions of MQM workers on Indias
financier relationship with the MQM,
reported the Guardian.
Thus, it remains grossly unclear how
such an overtly politically undesirable
person, convicted of organized criminal
activities and under warrant of arrest in
his home country, could be granted citizenship by Britain? Hussain has been
labelled as a terrorist by a number of
UK lawmakers, including former MP
Galloway, who has repeatedly called
for his arrest for incitement to commit
murder abroad, as well as being the
chief suspect of innumerable murders
in the UK. Harboring Altaf Hussain
clearing amounts to state sponsorship
of terrorism on the part of Britain, along
with India, which also emerges as a
sponsor of state terrorism in its role in
the destabilization of Pakistan via the
violent anarchy imposed by the lawless
activities of RAW-trained MQM thugs.
What world governmental bodies are
responsible to stem the true sources of
terrorism where it genuinely exists, and
address it, for the protection and survival of the millions of innocents who
are the unfortunate victims of global
hegemony?
After falling out with the political
parties of the late Benazir Bhutto and
Nawaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain adopted
a much harsher, critical, if not hostile
stance, even demanding separating
Karachi from Pakistan as a politically
autonomous region for Muhajirs. In the
volatile political climate of the 1980s,
numerous violent clashes occurred

Graves Near Thailand Says Authorities, Survivor
As Thai and Malaysian authorities
continue their hunt for hidden graves of
refugees in a remote border jungle, the
biggest gravesite of all may have been
discovered hidden in plain sight.
Just 800 metres from the front door
of the police centre in the Thai border
town Padang Besar, and a five-minute
stroll from the Thai immigration office,
lie dozens of concealed graves of Rohingya refugees who have fled abject
persecution in their homeland Myanmar.
More than 100 secret graves might
lie in the small cemetery, and overlooking the site just metres away is the house
of the smuggler believed to have put
them there.
A survivor of one of the refugee
jungle camps who had been pressganged into helping the traffickers took
Four Corners to the graves.
Known as Buraq, for his safety, he
pointed out the graves of Rohingya

friends who had died or been killed in

the camps.
He said the trafficker brought the
bodies off the mountain jungles and
buried them in the town graveyard to
avoid evidence of the dead being found
at his jungle camps.
Whenever there was a load of two or
three corpses, Buraq would be driven
through the streets of Padang Besar at
midnight towards the little-used cemetery.
No matter the threat to his life, Buraq
is determined to directly accuse those
he blames for the deaths of his friends
and fellow Rohingyas if there is a
legal system that will listen.
Buraq describes how one friend died.
Alom had his throat cut, Buraq
said, gesturing a slash across his throat,
then pointing to a nearby house.

that of Lut (Lot) and the people of
Sodom and Gomorrah; the people of
Ad and Thamud; the people of Nuh
(Noah); and the people with Pharaoh

more, due to their disobedience to Allah

among Americans even from the Court
itself as the dissenters raised concerns
about the impact of the case on people
opposed to same-gendermarriage on
religious grounds. Although the ruling
only affects state laws and religious
institutions can still choose whether to
marry same-gendercouples, the pre-

name of religion or to further other

who indulged in sinful relations and
are now suffering from His wrath with
AIDS, a divine affliction that is not a
disease.
Al-Sheikh Gilani also said, We must
condemn these acts and declare a social
boycott of all who do not stand against
same sex marriage in an effort to save
ourselves. We must stand up. Only then
will we be saved.

Men Plan, Allah Plans, and Allah Is the Best of Planners

or almost two decades, beginning with

the 9/11 attacks, modern conspirators
have schemed to destroy the natural
course of Allahs decree to bring Al-Islam into
dominance. Continuously, there have been plots in
the name of Muslims and Islam that have nothing
to do with either, but are used to try to create fear
and hatred - particularly in the West. However, to
the contrary, Al-Islam is now the fastest growing
religion in the world, as hearts are turned towards
our way of life rather than away from it.
When CNN anchor Anderson Cooper interviewed Phoenix, AZ anti-Islam rally organizer
Jon Ritzheimer, it was clear that the subscribers
to Islamophobia would reach to the bottom of the
barrel to demonize Islam. Unfortunately for them,
choosing an intellectually challenged advocate to
champion their cause and provoke violence was a
poor choice.
According to a report in The Washington Post:
Ritzheimer began demonstrating after two
Phoenix residents carrying assault rifles were
killed by police outside a Muhammad cartoondrawing contest in suburban Dallas earlier this
month. In the days following the shooting,
Ritzheimer began making and selling the T-shirts.
Nearly two weeks ago, he organized a protest at the
Islamic Community Center of Phoenix, where a
few dozen others joined him.

Ritzheimer compared himself to the signers of

the Declaration of Independence, which was an initial indicator of his ignorant and bigoted ideology.
He spouted words of American patriotism to attract
murderers of like-mindedness, common practice
these days, like his terrorist counterpart, Robert
Doggart (who plotted to kill Muslims in Islamberg,
NY). Ritzheimer also seemed to hide his attack
on religious freedom under a cloak of patriotism
when he stated, I would love to see more of these
events pop up in other states. I want fellow patriots
standing right here next to me. This isnt about me.
Everybodys been thinking it, Im just saying it.
But Ritzheimers plan backfired. The latest YouTube video entitled, Hilarious! Jon Ritzheimer
Desperate Plea for Help is a prime example of
Islamophobic greed gone wrong. His claim of
taking cover right now during a verbal firefight
is now recognized at the very least as a gross
exaggeration filled with a fanciful imagination.
Ritzheimer, his wife nor daughters are in any type
of danger. He blames the media, specifically CNN
and FOX for not calling him for an interview to tell
his story and never seems to realize that it is because he doesnt have a story worth telling. If there
was any substance or believability to his story,
western media would have picked it up.
Ritzheimer himself admits his cartoon contest
was stupid and states, I dont even care about it.

His own words can be used against him to prove

his actions were motivated by financial hopes, as
he started a failed Fund Me campaign to raise
hope of millions in protection monies. Again a
failed venture.
The Phoenix anti-Islam protest and the subsequent invitation extended by the mosque are
evidence of Americas need for inter-religious dialogue and the re-examination of how free speech is
misused.
Ritzheimer, Islamophobes, opportunists and
other characters of the same ilk are undoubtedly
confused by the outpouring of decency. It is quite
probable that at some point members of the faith
community will thank him for being a catalyst of
renewed inspiration for interfaith relations in the
United States. The show of solidarity through attendance at the unofficial post-rally gathering held
at the Phoenix Islamic Center was nothing short of
amazing.
Social media, newspapers and radio programs
continue to discuss the positive results obtained
from a negative endeavor. When the Muslims in
Phoenix invited and welcomed protesters inside
of their mosque for the evening prayer, some accepted the invitation. What they discovered was
not only a place of serene worship, but a spirit of
compassionate brotherhood that changed the mind
of some who hours before were armed with rifles,

offensive t-shirts and despicable speech. Many of

the protestors had never met a Muslim prior the
protest, which speaks to the constant media propagandizing and demonizing of Muslims and Islam,
a ploy to gain public support for the never ending
War on Terror the war on American liberties.
One of the protestors, Jason Leger clad in a
profanity-laced shirt demeaning Islam, accepted
the offer. He says what transpired that evening has
changed his entire perspective.
It was something Ive never seen before. I took
my shoes off. I kneeled. I saw a bunch of peaceful
people. We all got along, Leger said. They made
me feel welcome, you know. I just think everybodys points are getting misconstrued, saying
things out of emotion, saying things they dont
believe.
The awakening of Leger was parroted by fellow
protester Paul Griffin, who prior to accepting the
offer to attend evening prayers had stated he didnt
care if his shirt was offensive. After attending
mosque, Griffin changed his viewpoint saying,
I promise, the next time you see me, I wont be
wearing this shirt, while shaking his hand and
smiling. I wont wear it again.

Scud Missile Attacks
The goal of targeting Saudi Arabia with Scud missiles was to warn Riyadh, and we hope
that it has grasped the meaning
[Editors Note: The damage here is not strategic in a military sense, but could be so from a
psychological perspective. After being pummeled
by airstrikes for weeks, including nuclear weapons
being used on them, the Yemenis are showing they
can counterattack.
Refugee Prime Minister Mr. Hadi had recently
undermined the UN talks by basically saying his
only involvement would be working out the details
of his being restored to power and new elections
being held. He obviously is living in an alternative
universe, and making a fool out of Mr. Moon at the
UN could have some long term consequences for
Mr. Hadi.
The Yemenis will need Saudi support in terms
of strengthening the opposition in Saudi Arabia,
SA, to be more outspoken and condemning the
war as a misadventure that is backfiring. You will
notice that all reporting about the new Arab NATO
has gone completely silent.
Veterans Today Magazine online reporting
of Israeli planes with SA markings field testing
some nuclear bunker busters went all over the
Arab Press, the Western media had a complete black out, as usual. But the paradigm has
changed because of this huge blunder.
Anyone and everyone will be looking to make
or buy these weapons, which do not need sophisticated nuclear warhead material, as not only a deterrent, but one which would be used offensively.
Countries in the region are not going accept their
being designated as testing grounds. The UN and
IAEA, by hiding this story, have marginalized
themselves even more so now as being very selective in their non-proliferation concerns Jim W.

The Saudi residents of Khamees al-Mushait
are waiting in a several-kilometer-long trail of
cars to flee after their city was hit by Yemeni
Scud missiles, the Arabic-language Saada
Press news website reported.
The Riyadh-based Ahrar al-Hejaz news website
also reported that many Saudi princes have fled to
western countries, specially France and Britain,
after consecutive defeats of King Salmans army
and plots, adding that some other princes are running away in anticipation of trial and punishment
due to their opposition to the kings war on Yemen.
Earlier today, a high-ranking Yemeni official underlined that firing missiles by Yemen

into Saudi Arabia meant to give a warning to the

Riyadh government to stop its continued attacks
against the neighboring country.
The goal of targeting Saudi Arabia with
Scud missiles was to warn Riyadh and we hope
that it has grasped the meaning, Al-Mayadeen
TV quoted the senior official, who asked to
remain anonymous, as saying on Sunday.
The source reiterated that the Yemeni army has
many options that it can use against Saudi Arabia
if the monarchy does not halt its attacks against
the Sanaa government. On Saturday, the Yemeni
army fired a Scud missile into Saudi Arabia, forcing the monarchys officials to cancel all Jizan and
Abha flights.
According to media reports, the missile was
fired early Saturday morning at the Saudi regimes largest air force base located in the city of
Khamees al-Mushait in the kingdoms Southwest.
Saudi Arabia claimed that it had intercepted the
Scud by two Patriot missiles. But Al-Mayadeen
said the missile hit an air base. Airport terminals
of Jizan and Abha were evacuated and flights cancelled following the attack.
Also on Saturday, the Yemeni forces fired at
least 80 missiles against the Saudi armys positions
in Jizan region. There are still no reports on the

extent of the Saudi casualties in the border areas.

The attack came after Saudi warplanes pounded
the areas of Bani Sayah and Sahar in Saada province and claimed the lives of more than 70 civilians.
The Yemeni sources confirmed that the missiles
fired by the popular forces against the Saudi targets inflicted substantial losses on an arms depot
and four military patrol vehicles, killing several
Saudi forces.
The missile attacks which were carried out
in Towailaq district in the Saudi border region of
Jizan was revealed by a military source to Yemens
SABA news agency during an interview.
A large number of Saudi military aggression forces were killed in the attacks, the
source, who asked to remain unnamed, said.
Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen in the
last 74 days to bring its ally, fugitive president
Mansour Hadi, back to power.
The airstrikes have so far claimed the lives of
more than 4,367 civilians, mostly women and children.
According to a recent report by Freedom House
Foundation, most of the victims of the deadly Al
Saud campaign are civilians, including a large
number of women and children.

When Will the US Get It R ight in Just TMOA & the Pakistan Consulate:
Treatment of its C itizens of Color?
The Issue of Visa Refusals
Counting the African American citizens murdered by law enforcement is
the first step on the road to change. The
next is to disrupt the system that continues to brutalize them. Racial profiling and murders of African American
youth have reached an all-time high,
at least in the public record that is now
being disclosed.
Almost daily, Americans of African
descent are being slaughtered and/or
abused by police, local security or private militias.
Though the killings of Americans
of African descent by authorities has
been ongoing since slavery, today we
are witnessing birds eye views of the
injustice and imbalance of these acts.
Citizens are now increasingly armed
with cell phone cameras, exposing the
reality that is televised in the US and
worldwide, and are reacting to images
that now seem as commonplace as they
are repulsive.
Starting in 1991, the police beating of Rodney King was videotaped.
Now, there are multiple horror stories
of unarmed youths being killed with
no justice: Trayvon Martin, who was
murdered by white vigilante George
Zimmerman, Kimani Gray, 16 and
unarmed; Kendrec McDade, 19 college
student and unarmed; Timothy Russell
and Malissa Williams, killed by 137
rounds and unarmed; Rekia Boyd, 22
and unarmed; Michael Brown, 22 and
unarmed; Bernard Bailey, unarmed;
and Freddie Gray, 25 and unarmed.
Sadly, there are too many to list in this
article.
The latest incident to go viral of
police violence against Americans
of African descent are the troubling
images of a police officer slamming
a 14-year-old girl to the ground and
pointing a gun at group of teenagers in
suburban McKinney, TX.
While no one was shot or killed, the
casual brutality seen in the videotaped
confrontation underlines the desperate

need for a national database on policecommunity relations across the United

States. The numbers are staggering,
though specific counts are unknown
due to governmental reluctance to
record the carnage.
One effort already underway to
count the number of police killings
across America is The Guardian online
website, which has begun tracking
murders by police and created a national list, The Counted, that includes
names of 508 shootings by police since
2014. Twenty-nine Americans of African descent have been killed by police/
security since January 2012; 16 since
Trayvon Martin
Unlawful and excessive imprisonment is another form of brutality. The
prison population increased from
300,000 to 2.3 million in the past 35
years, with Americans of African
descent making up almost half that
number. Legal scholar Michelle Alexander, in her book, The New Jim
Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age
of Colorblindness, has characterized
the mass incarceration of American
men of African descent due to the war
on drugs, over the past 35 years, as the

new Jim Crow. The criminal justice

system increasingly serves as a nexus
for punishment, control and surveillance that focuses predominantly on
Americans of African descent, brown
and poor people.
We need to document police behavior in McKinney as much as we do
in Ferguson, Missouri or Baltimore,
Maryland and anywhere Americans
of African descent are humiliated in
public displays of state violence that
reinforce unequal power relations based
on race, privilege, wealth and access.
Saying the Lives of American people
of African Descent Matter! implies
that they are deprived of basic human
rights and dignity, acknowledging that
their poverty and genocide is the result
of state-sponsored inhumanity.
With the death of Freddie Gray,
every killing of an unarmed youth will
possibly further reignite the simmering
resentment in the United States over
police tactics in their dealings with
Americans of African descent. The U.S.
is on the cusp of a racial civil war. Be
forewarned!

For decades, the members of The

Muslims of America, Inc. (TMOA)
have traveled to Pakistan for religious
studies, charitable and humanitarian
missions, cultural tours and family
visits. Throughout our travels of over
thirty years, we have run into red tape
difficulties in obtaining visas from the
Pakistan Embassy. However, in recent
years the difficulties have escalated,
with reasons given ranging from none
to reciprocity.
It is inexcusable that after more than
three decades of services, TMOA members are denied their requests for 3/6
month or 1 year visas that are usually
replaced with 30-day visas costing the
same $125. Other than blatant racism,
what could be the reason for the constant ungratefulness?
Has Pakistan forgotten the numerous aid and assistance provided by
TMOA? The excuse of reciprocity
does not hold water as to why a Muslim
country would mistreat Muslims in
the way a non-Muslim country would
mistreat their citizens. Do they not fear
Allah? What has TMOA to do with the
operations of the U.S. government?
TMOA has extended its hand, in the
spirit of Deen-ul-Haqq, in the form of
humanitarianism, financial, and medical assistance. Through the Kashmir
American Friendship Society, our team
of social servants provided aid to the
victimized refugees. Our delegation
of doctors, nurses and other medical
staff provided services at the Ayub
Medical Complex in Abbottabad after
the devastating earthquake. The hospital had no surgical knives and other
necessary medical instruments until
the American Muslim Medical Relief
Team arrived and stocked the hospital.
Our professional staff remained there,
even after countless items were stolen
and continued to help save the lives of
the children, women and men hurt and

displaced after disaster struck.

TMOA are the caretakers of the

Allahs Name has been shining for over
four years. This living miracle continues to be a catalyst for our members to
serve humanity, irrespective of where in

These are just a few of the examples
of the time and hundreds of thousands
of dollars spent, if a price tag were to
be placed on what has been given in
humanitarian and philanthropic endeavors by the organization. TMOA has
sought no preferential treatment from
Pakistan. We only ask that when completing the required visa applications,
that they are processed according to
the request. The discrimination against

S a u d i A r a b i a s I s l a m o p h o b i a
Islamophobia is generally defined
as prejudice against, hatred towards,
or fear of Islam. To ensure that the
term can be used in as wide an array
of situations as possible, Muslims are
deemed interchangeable with Islam in
the definition. This implies that Muslims and Islam are synonymous and
that all Muslims showcase an identical
adherence to Islam. This in turn reflects
blatant neglect of cultural, sceptic and
humanist Muslim identities which view
adherence to Islamic scriptures in varying lights.
The self-contradiction of the misnomer aside, there are few regimes
and states if one can take the liberty
of dubbing the kingdom of al-Saud as
such that are more Islamophobic
than Saudi Arabia. While the Kingdom
is the birthplace of Islam, and is considered the religious hub owing to the
presence of Masjid al-Haram and AlMasjid an-Nabawi, the al-Saud family
has long treated Islamic heritage as their
personal property and Islam itself as
a blank cheque for perpetual transactions.
The al-Saud family has a centuries
long association with demolition of
mosques, burial sites, homes and
historical locations central to Islamic
history, culture and heritage. It flaunts
an antediluvian and narrow version of
Islam (Wahabbism), which ironically
started off as a revivalist movement
in the 18th century. Wahabbism strictly
condemns veneration of any historical
sites or shrines, and deems the act as
shirq. The Saudi Islamophobia and
prejudice targets every other version of
Islam.
At the start of the 19th century the
Saudis led by Abdul Aziz ibn Muhammad ibn Saud attacked Karbala and
Najaf, destroying holy sites like the
tomb of Imam Hussain, the grandson
of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and
blessings upon him). By 1804 the Saudis
had taken their destruction to Mecca
and Medina and demolished the tombs
of Hazrat Fatimah, the youngest daughter of the Holy Last Messenger (peace
and blessings be upon him), and Hazrat
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, his first
wife, along with many other structures
related to the Holy Last Messengers

Among the prominent sites targeted
in the 20th century, after the Kingdom
of al-Saud was established in 1932,
were the graves of the martyrs of the
Uhad Battle including Hamza ibn

along with the Fatimah-al Zahra and
Manaratayn mosques, as well as the
Qubbat Al-Thanaya. After reserves of
oil were first were discovered in AlAhsa in 1938, the global submission to
Saudi monopoly over Islam, and the
ensuing destruction of Islamic heritage, grew in synchrony with the rising
number of oil barrels.
According to estimates in the last
couple of decades alone, 95 per cent of
Meccas millennium-old buildings have
been destroyed. With the number of
pilgrims for the annual Hajj increasing
every year, the Saudis have cashed in
on Islamic capitalism, with luxurious
hotels, malls and skyscrapers replacing
sites that Muslims deem holy or of cultural and historical significance. Even
though the need to accommodate a

growing number of pilgrims is evident,

to vandalize those very sites that enrich
the experience Muslims who dont
adhere to the Saudi brand of Islam, is to
target the very essence of the pilgrimage.
When ISIS destruction of ancient
artifacts and targeting of culture and
history associated with Islamic empires
is used to discredit their credentials as
the Islamic state, the Muslim worlds
continued acceptance of the al-Saud
family as the decision maker on behalf
of 1.6 billion Muslims around the
world, smacks of hypocrisy amidst
threat of economic or religious sanctions. The fear of not getting a visa for
the Hajj the very experience that
forms the core of the Kingdoms tourism industry, which the Saudis are
hell bent on vandalizing is enough
for many to acquiesce to Saudis Islamophobic demolition of the Muslim
worlds pluralism.
The Saudi phobia of Shia Islam is
inherent to the kingdoms domestic
and foreign policy to a point where the
Jews of Israel, which according to
Saudis Islam should never be taken as

friends, become a natural ally vis--vis

Iran. The anti-Shia militancy in Pakistan and throughout the Middle East is
fuelled by Saudi petrodollars. The ongoing Saudi-led intervention in Yemen
that has killed hundreds of Muslims
and left thousands displaced is a corollary of the Saudi fear of a Shiite government undoing the status of Yemen as a
Saudi satellite state.
As Saudi Arabia funds seminaries and militants around the Muslim
world to expand its Islamic hegemony
and quell any moderation and reform,
it simultaneously keeps raising the
ante on its own human rights abuses,
reserving special wrath for ideological
resistance. Raif Badawi, a secular blogger - a prisoner of conscience in the
21st century - was punished with 1,000
lashes for insulting Islam with the
first 50 meted out on January 9. On
June 7 the Saudi Supreme Court upheld
the punishment, which means that
Badawi could be physically tortured in
the month of Ramazan for blog posts,
which called for secularism to replace
the Saudi theocracy.
Saudi Arabias draconian and bi-

zarre counterterrorism law, which was

sanctioned last year, dubs atheism,
criticism of the Saudi rule and any form
of dissent as terrorism. The loosely used
term atheism is used to target human
rights activists and writers who call for
tolerance and pluralism in the Saudi
society. Waleed Abu al-Khair, Badawis
lawyer, was the first human rights
lawyer to be convicted under last years
counterterrorism law which has seen an
unprecedented hike in beheadings and
state sanctioned executions.
The Saudi Islamophobia stems from
the need to maintain the hegemony of
Wahabbism and oil as the two pillars on
which the economic superstructure of
the Kingdom stands. Allowing for any
pluralism in Islam or making Muslim
around the world the stakeholders in
decisions pertaining to Islamic heritage would damage one pillar of Saudi
economy.
With the need for pluralism in
Islam and reform in the Muslim world
becoming evident, the Saudis are
precipitously escalating their Islamocapitalistic vandalism before theyre
forestalled by reformists. By 2017 the
Abraj Kudai, the worlds largest hotel
will be open in Mecca. It will tower over
Masjid al-Haram, with its 45 stories,
10,000 bedrooms and four helipads
epitomizing condescension for Islamic
heritage and non-Wahhabi Islam.

The hegemonic actions of the Wahhabis will never be forgotten. Particularly 1802 when they attacked Taif
and commenced a bloody, murderous
rampage through the city methodically
slaughtering men, women and children
except the few who were left barefoot
and naked in the snow without provisions. They destroyed Taifs holy sites,
plundered the murdered citizens possessions and wealth, and tossed books into

INTRODUCTION
Islamophobia and violence against
people of African descent are escalating
in America. Forces within the United
States are determined to cause civil
unrest by cultivating hate and instigating violence to break down America
from within.
On April 10, 2015, The Muslims of
America, received notice from federal
authorities that Robert Rankin Doggart,
a former Tennessee state congressional
candidate was arrested for plotting to
attack our village of Islamberg in Hancock, New York. His intentions were
to kill its residents and burn down their
masjid and school. It was shocking to all
that Doggart was released from custody
and placed on house arrest under terms
of a plea deal charging him only with
communicating a threat. No charges
of terrorism or hate crimes were filed.
Residents of Islamberg, a community
primarily of African descent, are experiencing firsthand the effects of Islamophobia sweeping across the nation akin
to the fever of violence towards people
of color and ethnic minorities.
In February this year, the nation
was stunned by murder in cold blood
of the three young American Muslims
in Chapel Hill, NC. The murderer shot
the three in their home in a sobering
example of hatred of Muslims. According to the Council on American-Islamic
Relations, an Arizona masjid received
threatening letters signed by Patriot
Friends targeting Muslim leaders and
threatening to burn the masjid to the
ground. Soon after, bikers organized an
anti-Muslim demonstration outside the
same Arizona masjid, encouraging participants to not only attend but exercise
their second amendment right- to bear
arms. They came armed with concealed
weapons and dressed in tee-shirts with
derogatory slogans toward Islam. In
East Amherst, New York, authorities
reported a vehicle was driven to the
masjid, and then set on fire. An investigation is pending.
The same hatreds that seed these incidents also plague the African-American communities across the country.
Recently outrage erupted in the city of
Baltimore, MD when an unarmed man
was illegally arrested, detained, and
then brutally treated, leading to his
death. Ferguson, MO is attempting to
heal from protests and civil unrest following the murder by a police officer of
unarmed 18-year old Michael Brown.
Citizens claimed that their community
was being systematically oppressed,
which was confirmed by a U.S. Justice
Department probe that found Ferguson police officers routinely violate the
Fourth Amendment in stopping people
without reasonable suspicion, arresting
them without probable cause, and using
unreasonable force against them.
The intent behind these striking
acts of violence and hatred is a nefarious plan is to bring about chaos and a
clash between Muslims and Christians.
These conspirators intend to provoke a
civil war, thus enabling martial law to
be imposed and their eventual takeover
in America. To avoid this, the citizens
of American, especially Muslims and
Africans, must recognize the psychology behind their enemy and join
together in following these guiding
principles being issued by the Imam of
The Muslims of America, who is not an
ordinary person.
Almighty Allah sent him thirtytwo years ago with miraculous signs,
a guarantee from Allah the Exalted of
the mission He has given to El Sheikh
Gilani. The miracles are confirmation
that Allah the Exalted will help him and
those who follow him, and that Allah
the Exalted has done, is doing and that
He will do so. We invite you to visit
the miracle of the Almighty Creators
Personal Name, Allah, which has appeared shining on the wall of our masjid
in Islamberg, New York for the past four
years. With this, we present the Statement on Issues of Race in the United
States from El Sheikh Gilani.
The Almighty Creator sent guidance
for all mankind, and Messengers (upon
them peace) who served as examples
to instruct people on how to follow the
guidance. Yet, in spite of these blessed
Messengers, the majority rebelled
against Almighty Allah and oppressed
themselves and further began committing oppression against each other by
enslaving nation after nation.
Historically we find there were
many African slaves in Makka-tulMukarramah. Although they were despised because of their color, when they
heard the message from the Holy Last
Messenger (peace be upon him) who

received the guidance from Almighty

Allah, they embraced Islam and became
Muslims.
Regarding the term African-American, I would simply say Americans.
Other Americans do not call themselves
Japanese American or Irish American
or French American or German American. When they arrived in America,
they called themselves only American.
Americans of African descent are
a unique people. You didnt land in
America by choice, but were brought
there over 400 years ago, enslaved.
After the real Native Americans, who
were annihilated, you are the real
Americans because you built this country with your own hands. The rest are
settlers. You are Americans of African
descent. That is how you should identify yourselves. Then you must commit
to uniting on one common platform and
follow Islam in letter and spirit.
It was the Bani Israel who invented
the term black as a lie against Almighty Allah. Hazrat Nuh (upon him
peace) had three sons, Haam, Saam
and Yafeth. Saams descendants spread
all over the Arabic world and Asia.
Haam and his descendants spread out in
Africa. Yafeth and his descendants went
to the western side of the world such as
Europe. The Bani Israel changed the
text of the Old Testament to support
the lie which claimed that after Noahs
Ark landed at Mt. Judea, his son Haam
committed a dishonorable act. Because
of this, Noah supposedly invoked the
curse of Allah upon Hamms descendants. According to this purposefully
falsified text of the Old Testament,
Haams face immediately turned black.
Thus, all of his descendants were then
to be born with black faces and Noah
(upon him peace) is alleged to have
cursed them all to become the slaves of
the white offspring of Haams brothers,
Saam and Yafeth by stating, A slave
of slave shall he be unto his brethren.
(Genesis 9: 21-27). This is how slavery
was not only justified, but made an act
of the will of the Creator.
With this, develop and establish a
basic understanding about how the term
black man came into being. Allah
has upheld virtue, piety, and reality in
the Ten Commandments, which is also
found in Holy Quran.
All those Muslims and non-Muslims
that are of African descent should not
allow anyone to call them black because according to Holy Quran, all the
sinners and rebels who are destined to
be thrown into Hell will be turned into
black men and women, and those who
will be destined to go into Paradise
will be turned into bright, white Noori
beings with the Noor (Divine light) of
Allah shining on their faces. All those
people who reject the message of Allah
and Holy Quran, they are the true black
men. So, you should not dare allow
anyone to call you black.
Muslims are neither black nor
white. This was determined by the
Last Sermon of the Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings
upon him), where Almighty Allah put
His words into the mouth of the Holy
Last Messenger Muhammad (peace
and blessings upon him) to declare
that, All mankind is from Adam and
Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a
non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has
no superiority over a black nor a black
has any superiority over white except
by piety and good action. This is from
the Last Sermon of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him)
and is considered the first charter of
human rights. It is here that the equality of mankind is established, in which
people are judged because of their piety
and taqwa, or Allah awareness.
These tampered books also produced cultures like the Arabs that used
them against women, leading to the customs of burying alive female children at
birth. When the Holy Last Messenger
(peace and blessings upon him) was in
Makkah tul Mukarramah, there were
slaves. The first martyr of Islam was
an African woman who was speared to
death. The Holy Last Messenger (peace
and blessings upon him) was the first to
take steps to emancipate slaves and then
to liberate women.
There is the example of the slave
of Umayyah, Hazrat Bilal (may Allah
be pleased with him). One day, Hazrat
Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him)
heard the message from his Almighty
Creator and so he embraced Islam. In
turn, Umayyah tortured him by putting hot, burning rocks onto his chest.
However, he continued to only cry out,
Ahad, Ahad, Ahad! confirming the

Fervent supplications to the Almighty Creator by worshippers who had gathered in the masjid in Holy Islamberg
were miraculously answered by the appearance of His Name, in brilliant, resplendent light.
One Almighty Creator. Americans
of African descent should be proud of
the fact that Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be
pleased with him) is your ancestor because Allah loved him and Hazrat Bilal
loved the Holy Last Messenger (peace
and blessings upon him).
Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased
with him) became muezzin, the one
who calls to prayer (adhaan). He used
to call the adhaan so beautifully in
Madina tul Munawara, but he had a
problem. He was not able to pronounce
the letter sheen, and in his calling the
adhaan, he said As-SaduAllah as
many amongst you still say because of
the sheen that cannot be pronounced,
so the sound comes out as a seen. As a
result, the Holy Companions (Allah be
pleased with them) complained to the
Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him), The Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him)
heard it and thus he (peace and blessings upon him) said, Hazrat Bilal (may
Allah be pleased with him) will not call
the adhaan.
This happened during the night
time, so when the morning came people
did not hear the adhaan, but they continued to wait. After half an hour passed,
there was still no adhaan, while darkness remained. After two hours, people
began to think that Qiyaamah (Day of
Judgment) was coming so they began
to panic and started running around.
The people came to the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him),
and said, What is this? Is it going to
be Qiyaamah because the day is not
starting and morning is not showing?
They began weeping and wanting to
know the cause. The Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him)
said he would wait for the news. The
Angel Jibrail (Gabriel) (peace upon
him) came down and told them that
Allah loves Bilal and until he does the
adhaan, morning will not come. Hazrat
Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him)
called the adhaan and the morning
came. Afterwards, they started loving

and respecting Hazrat Bilal (may Allah

be pleased with him) so much it cannot
be imagined.
This point establishes that even
though Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be
pleased with him) was at first oppressed, once he became Muslim,
Allah made a way for him. This invitation is in an ayat of Holy Quran in
Surah At-Talaq, where Allah says,
Whosoever observes taqwa (Allah
awareness), Allah will make a way out
for the person in the situation and give
rizq (provisions) from such (quarters
of which he has no knowledge). And
if you trust Allah, there is a lesson and
guidance in this. (Holy Quran, Surah
At-Talaq: 2-3)
The beauty of Islam is also displayed
in an account of a loose woman; after
she died, no one wanted to offer her funeral prayer. Later some people saw in a
dream that she had been granted Paradise and so they asked her, How did
you get this position? She answered,
Once I was traveling near a well where
a dog was dying of thirst. I tore my
chaddar, took off my leather sock and
drew water from the well to quench
the thirst of the puppy. For that, Allah
forgave me. This level of Mercy is
unimaginable! Islam is based on mercy
and love of mankind. Islam espouses
love for all the creatures of the world
from the ant to the elephant. Compare
this to people who torture and dehumanize millions of human beings as
represented in the African slave trade.
Before the African slave trade, the
Arabs were already regularly traveling
to America through the West Coast and
doing a great amount of trade with the
native people in California. These real
Americans believed in One Almighty
Spirit. They had ethics, and practiced a
morality-code. They were very strong,
healthy people who did not die of AIDS
and cancer. They did not commit adultery and there was no homosexuality.
However, criminal colonists established
themselves as the gentlemen and
forced the people to believe in three

gods. They themselves were a second

generation of criminals who had no
mercy because their hearts were hardened and so they took revenge on the
Africans.
When the Muslims and non-Muslims were abducted from African countries, they were severely punished in
order to dehumanize them and prevent
them from thinking as human beings.
The aim was to reduce them to the level
of cattle, which have no mind of their
own. They were first starved to death.
They were tortured and mutilated. The
abducted Africans were given every
imaginable punishment, many things
you could never imagine doing to an
animal. To illustrate the disdain in
which Africans were held, there is the
story of Ota Benga, a young African
Pygmy of Central African Congo
whose wife and children were murdered
by henchmen of the Belgian king for
refusing to work on their rubber plantations. Ota Benga was captured and
sold to an American businessman who
planned to use him in an exhibit to show
how the darkest people on earth were
on the lowest end of the evolutionary
process and that the whitest people, who
were dominant, had completed their
evolution. Benga was on display at the
St. Louis World Fair in 1904, and was
exhibited in a cage with an orangutan at
the Bronx Zoo in 1906.
Despite such treatment, Americans
of African descent should be proud
of the fact that it was Najashi, King of
Ethiopia, who gave refuge to the oppressed Muslims and refused to surrender them when their oppressors came
to his court. At that time, he asked the
head of the Muslim party, sent there to
seek asylum, Syed Jaffar (may Allah be
pleased with him) to recite some Holy
Quran, and he recited part of Chapter
Maryam. On hearing that, Najashi
wept till his beard was wet. He said,
This is the truth. He accepted them
in his land and eventually, he accepted
Islam. He is the first human who, when

he died, Allah informed the Holy Last
Messenger (peace and blessings upon
him) about it and his funeral prayers
were held in absentia. On the basis of
this comes the edict that in any home
where there is a pious African man or
woman, it will always be blessed.
Today, we are facing so much hatred
towards Americans of African descent.
There is a complaint that Arabs in
America do not like Muslims of African
descent. Understand that this was also
present during the time of the Holy Last
Messenger (peace and blessings upon
him). However, the Hashmite Arabs,
descendants of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him), are
the only Arabs that do not have this type
of prejudice.
I am an Arab from both sides, a
pure Hashmite, from whom many
have spread all over the world. We
have come to Pakistan, which is not
our home. Here they do not like us and
have killed many of us. They have destroyed and bombed our Holy Shrines.
I have always sent my family members
to America. I would have been there
in America, but unfortunately, for the
Islamophobes like Martin Mawyer,
who have incited people to kill me. My
family is American, my children are
Americans and living in America. You
can take me as an American Arab. I
am a Hashmi Arab. We cannot afford
to hate anyone. Allah, The Exalted has
chosen us to guide mankind. If He has
chosen us to guide mankind, then how
can we have prejudices and dislikes?
It is related that during the time of
the Holy Last Messenger (peace and
blessings upon him) Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased
with him) saw the other Arabs among
other tribes talking and laughing, but
the moment Ali (may Allah be pleased
with him) came, everyone would
always become very quiet. So he came
back and told the Holy Last Messenger
(peace and blessings upon him) that
these Arabs showed prejudice against
Banu Hashim and he felt very bad about
it. The Holy Last Messenger (peace and
blessings upon him) went out in anger
and warned them. Almighty Allah
said in Holy Quran, He has purified
the descendants of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings upon him).

Through the Superior Virtues of the
Ahle-Bayt by Al-Imam Jalaaludeen
Abdur Rahman As-Suyuti (Mercy of
Allah upon him), Hadrat Abdullah
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with

him) narrated, the Holy Last Messenger

(peace and blessings upon him) stated,
The similitude of my Ahle-Bayt is
like the Ark of Nuh (Noah) [upon him
peace], Whosoever boards it will be
saved and whosoever stays away from
it will drown). Ahmad and Abu Yaala
relate from Abu Saeed Khudri that
the Holy Last Messenger (Peace and
blessing be upon him and his family)
remarked: In the near future I would
be summoned by Allah and I would
respond. I leave amongst you two
weighty things: The Book of Allah and
my Progeny, my Ahlul Bayt . The AllAware and the Kind Allah has informed
me that these two will not separate till
they reach me at the Haudh (Tank of
Kauthar). So take care as to how you
behave with them.
Therefore, it is obligatory for us
to guide you as pure Arabs, not as
the people who showed prejudice
against Bani Hashim at that time. Bani
Umayyah murdered the entire family
of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and
blessings upon him) because of their
prejudice. These are the same people
who do not like people of African descent, Ammawis and such. Reject them.
Ask them If you are Muslim, then what
are you doing here in America? Yes,
there is a guarantee of freedom, but it
is not an Islamic country and the Holy
Last Messenger (peace and blessings
upon him) has forbidden any Muslim
from leaving his country to go to an unIslamic country for a job or earnings.
The enemies of Islam have tried to
distort Islam by bringing false prophets,
false doctrines and ideas, and misinformation about Islam and Holy Quran.
The Holy Last Messenger Muhammad
(peace and blessings upon him) is the
last messenger and the second to the last
messenger is Jesus, Son of Mary (peace
be upon them), who is alive and helped
by Allah.
You must believe that Almighty
Allah is one and He has not partner, son
or daughter. This is the Islamic system,
without falsehood and innovation.
First, we declare the Kalimah La illaha
illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah
(peace and blessings upon him). We
must make salaat (prayer) five times a
day and we must observe thirty days of
fasting in the month of Ramadhan. We
must pay zakat (a tax which benefits
the poor) if we have a certain amount
of money, we must make hajj (religious
pilgrimage) if we have means, and we
must propagate goodness and stop evil.
We must learn to read Holy Quran correctly starting from Yassarnal Quran (a
successful learning method) and read it
without any mistakes. We must understand the meaning of Holy Quran and
understand its interpretation. Know that

Islam is the only religion that is against

slavery. It is considered a great virtue in
Islam to free a slave.
I enjoin on you to keep away from
those who are using Islam as a shield
to practice extremism. The Salafis and
Shiites have their own religion. Shiites
do not believe in the law of Islam such
as fasting and making salaat every day.
However, we do not wish to bother
them. Whatever they want to do, to
them their way.
One must first commit to the code
of being a Muslim. Then, unite on
one common platform as American
Muslims and become politically active
to fight for the common rights. Avoid
direct and indirect confrontation with
police authorities because there are
people, who are not a part of the American government, and want to bring
about a civil war. Our newspaper, The
Islamic Post, has already chronicled
those with this intent, such as private
militias and pundits from abroad.
Remember, the enemies of Islam
will kill anyone they like and no one
will be held legally responsible for it.
Who are they? Why are they doing this?
They are the ones who do not consider
Africans human beings. This is the psychology of your enemy. Recently, the
New York Times published an article by
Ted Widmer who posed the question in
the title Did the American Civil War
Ever End? which would imply that African Americans are still slaves.
Irrespective of this, know that you
are being helped. Do not underestimate yourselves or think that you are
weak. You are weak now because you
are divided. Once you are united, your
enemies cannot break you. Do not
allow egotism or the need for publicity
to come in between what can be accomplished collectively. Work hard for
the sake of Allah and for the sake of
humanity.
AlHamdulillah, many Christian
priests and ministers have come out
openly against Islamophobia. Join with
them. Formulate a common platform
with the various Muslim groups in
America and hold large rallies at the
United Nations and in Washington DC.
You must eradicate harmful practices and live the Islamic way of life.
Stop indulging in things that Almighty
Allah does not like, such as Fahashi
(lewdness}, which is spoken about in
the Jumuah Khutbah (sermon). Until
you stop practicing or being involved
in lewdness, no ibaadah (worship) will
be acceptable. You must stop watching
television, utilizing laptops and phones
on which people watch filthy movies
or commit adultery by getting to know
each other. All of these things should
desist before you do your ibaadah - only

then will your prayers be accepted.

Become good Muslims. Allahs
Promise is there because it never
changes. He will help you. He has
helped The Muslims of America Inc.
overcome the same problem, in that we
knew we could not protect and rear our
children in crime-infested cities. So,
we established our own towns, schools,
etc. Our youth are now doctors, nurses
and lawyers. They are doing very well.
We are self-sufficient and living off
our own resources. There is no compromising Deen ul Islam (the religion
of peace). The answer is submitting to
Allah wholeheartedly and without pretense.
Oh Oppressed People! Hold fast
to the rope of Allah, Holy Quran and
Sunnah. Fear no one! Remain steadfast
in the face of calamity and disaster!
Allah created life and death to see who
is truthful or who is a liar, and who performs good deeds.
For you, it is enough to know what is
in Holy Quran where Allah says:
Oh Believers, seek help by remaining steadfast and offering extra prayer.
And do not speak of those who lay
down their lives in the way of Allah as
dead; nay, they are alive, but you know
not. Allah will put you to test and trial
by causing you losses in business and
life. Oh Messenger, give glad tidings to
those who, when calamity befalls say,
Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon
(Surely we are Allahs and to Him we
shall surely return). (Surah Al-Baqara:
153-157).
You must believe in the promise of
Allah, trust Him, and hear and obey.
Then, know that He has promised
those of you who believe and perform
good deeds that He will make them
successors in the land (by placing
the oppressed above the oppressors),
and will firmly establish for them and
their Deen, with which He is pleased.
Therefore, establish Salaah (prayer),
compulsory five times a day, pay Zakah
(charity) and obey the messengers so
that mercy will be shown to you. The
oppressed Muslims must believe in this
promise of Allah, which He has given in
Holy Quran, Surah Al Noor:
Allah has promised to those among
you who believe and do good deeds that
he will surely make them rulers in the
earth, even as He had made those before
them rulers and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He
has chosen for them, and He will surely
change their state of fear into that of
peace and security. They will worship
Me and associate not any one with Me.
And whoso is ungrateful thereafter it
is these who are disobedient.
And establish prayer and pay the
poor-rate (Zakat) and obey the (Holy)

Messenger so that you may be shown

mercy. (24: 55-56)
Remember this is in reference to the
Bani Israil who were oppressed to such
an extent that their sons were massacred
and their women were made slaves. Yet
they believed in the messenger of the
time and Allah destroyed the most powerful kingdom of that time (Pharaoh)
and established Bani Israel in Egypt.
Although there is much that can be
added to this directive and guideline
leading to the ultimate salvation of
oppressed people in the United States
of America, we have thus told you the
background, the present situation and
offered the remedy. We are always
available and open.
I am the humble servant of Almighty
Allah The Exalted, He has sent me as
Khalifa (vicegerent) of His beloved
Messenger Muhammad (peace and
blessing upon him) and as Imam with
clear and open miraculous signs (i.e.,
The Almighty Creators personal name,
Allah, which has been shining for the
past four years at the Holy Masjid and
Shrine at Islamberg, New York). Miraculous signs are meant to support my
mission by Allah. Therefore, this Divinely Inspired discourse has the solutions and remedies for all the problems
currently being faced by all Muslims,
particularly in America.
Mark my words, I, the humble servant of Allah who was sent with miraculous signs, swear that if you follow this
command, O oppressed Muslims, you
will become inheritors of the land, the
way Bani Israel inherited the country
and kingdom of Pharaoh. Let there be
no doubt. All those who doubt are not
from amongst us. This will not happen
in centuries, but in no more than a few
decades. However, it will be obligatory
to follow the injunction in Holy Quran
which states:
O you, who have believed, obey
Allah and obey the Messenger and
those in authority among you. And
if you disagree over anything, refer
it to Allah and the Messenger, if you
should believe in Allah and the Last
Day. That is the best [way] and best in
result.(4:59).
You will have to follow these words
for your ultimate salvation and success
in this life and the Hereafter. I do not
demand anything from you.
This Divinely Inspired message has
been delivered. Accept it or reject it, but
we have done our duty.

St. Barnabas: The Disciple of Jesus Son of Mary (peace be upon them)
St. Barnabas, the disciple of Jesus
son of Mary (peace be upon them), was
from the tribe of Levi. His given name
was Joses (Joseph), but the apostles
gave him the surname Barnabas which
literally means Son of Consolation
because of his devotion to Jesus (peace
be upon him) and his teachings.
He was renowned among the apostles because of his closeness to Jesus
son of Mary. It is a recorded fact that

he was a man of impeccable character

and distinguished personality. Acts; 4:
36-37 states, He sold his possessions
and land, while Acts; 14: 11-12 declares, and placed the money at the disposal of apostles. His personal appearance is supposed to have been dignified
and commanding. It also mentions,
And Joseph, who by the apostles was
surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being
interpreted, the son of encouragement)

a Levite, and of the Country of Cyprus,

(Acts; 4: 36).
The Gospel of Barnabas renders
a truthful account that Jesus son of
Mary as a Messenger of the Almighty
Creator, who taught the renunciation
of paganism and espoused the teachings that there is only One Lord of the
heavens and earth. He also foretold of
the coming of a comforter that would
perfect a way of life for humanity and

spread light throughout the world. The

Gospel of Barnabas emphasizes the
advent of Muhammad (peace be upon
him) as the messiah and intercessor.
St. Barnabas was ceaseless in his efforts to proclaim that there is only one
Almighty Creator, and he called upon
the people to guard themselves against
Satan and his whisperings so as not to
be deceived by those saying that the
Prophet Jesus was anything other than

the Lords messenger blessed with the

ability to heal, comfort and perform
miracles with His Sovereign permission.
The Gospel of St. Barnabas remains
a priceless gem for humanity and
people of all faiths committed to Jesus
son of Mary, and his Lord, the Almighty Creator and to truth.

Benefits Of Ramadan
The great importance of Ramadan
is evident from the fact that the Holy
Quran was first revealed upon the Holy
Last Messenger (peace and blessings be
upon him) in this month. Every year,
Muslims around the globe strive for betterment in their lives through (fasting)
in the sacred month of Ramadan. They
adopt a consecrated routine of morality
and uprightness during this period, but
it has also been commonly observed
that most of its practitioners lose this
routine and turn to wickedness after
Ramadan, forgetting the true essence of
this interval.
Just as employees of any organization are given training and development
opportunities in order to perform their
jobs more productively, the case is the
same for the divine month of Ramadan, which is the phase of acquiring
a complete way of life for a Muslim.
So, it is crucial to first understand the
basic theme behind this act, which is
the transformation and consistency of
principled conduct in both thoughts and
actions.
A Muslim achieves the following
things from this month:
Nearness to Allah Almighty
through taqwa (piety and righteousness), resulting in forgiveness of sins
and attainment of His blessings.
Strengthening of ones religious
faith by keeping a state of hunger and
thirst for the whole day.
Consciousness of Allah`s many
blessings, which one enjoys at the time
of iftaar (breaking of fast).
Realization about the people less

tragedy, and be appreciative to the
Almighty and other people in times of
prosperity.
Conquering anger through self
control assists in dealing with many
harsh situations of life and while coping
with other fellow human beings.
Feelings of pride and envy are
controlled and moderated with a sense
of meekness and modesty towards the
Most Merciful One and other people.
Increase in tolerance and forgiveness towards others by asking the
Exalted One for one`s own clemency of
sins.
Development of the habit of regulating and scheduling of matters by carrying out prayers and other worships at
their set times.
Understanding the difference between needs and wants while fasting
and being appreciative of every single
blessing of Allah which one tends to
ignore in normal circumstances.
These are some of the imperative
gains that a Muslim tends to benefit
from during this auspicious time of the
year, which add greatly to the overall
significance of this sanctified month.
Suhur
During Ramadan Kareem 2015,
everyone can take advantage from the

eating and drinking, is an extremely
sanctified phase of Ramadan.
The Holy Last Messenger (peace and
blessings be upon him) has advised the
followers to be quick at breaking the
fast, as it is the opening of a lot of favors
from Allah.
Narrated by Sahl bin Sad (peace be
on him), The people will remain on
the right path as long as they hasten the
breaking of the fast. (Bukhari).
It means that hastening, which is
generally not a prescribed action to do
in Islam, has been only recommended
in availing the great bounties of the
Almighty Lord in terms of breaking the
fast as quickly as possible.

Now let us look at some of the necessary foods one must have during this
most promising instance of Ramadan.
Start consumption of food with dates,
as it is the Sunnah of the Holy Last Messenger (peace and blessings be upon
him) to do so. If it is not available, one is
advised to drink water instead. Both of
these items provide instant energy and
help in regulating the working of body
organs. Say no to overeating; eat less
and in a well planned way. The sudden
intake of a lot of food might lead to
disturbances in the metabolism of the
body. Eat food rich in proteins and carbohydrates like brown rice, fish, beans,
chicken, vegetables or salad etc., in a
balanced fashion. Consume homemade
provisions to carry on a well-managed
dietary plan. Therefore, maintaining a
sound nutritional arrangement during
iftaar this year will definitely be useful
in keeping the body fit, and keeping

Anas bin Malik narrated that, The
Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has
dates, then let him break the fast with
that, and whoever does not, then let him

water is purifying.

dates and water according to to the
above hadith. Breaking fast by eating
dates helps avoid overeating of food

Dates are one of the very best sweet

PRESIDENT OBAMA: WE FEEL UNSAFE

of Islamberg, a serene Muslim village
in Upstate New York, wrote letters to
President Obama to ask for his help in
combatting the Islamophobia that led
to a murderous plot against them by
former congressional candidate Robert
Doggart of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. According to court documents,
Doggart planned to burn down the Islamberg school along with the mosque,
killing anyone who got in the way,
including the very children who have
written to the President.
After learning that on June 22nd
during the White House Iftar President
Obama saw their now viral group photo
holding a banner asking, Why do
you want to kill us Robert Doggart?
students penned letters to express their
feelings at being targeted just because
they are American Muslims. As a pri-

the growing violence they see is evident
as one student expressed concern to
the President on two fronts, Can you
please fix the hate against Muslims and
also the hate against African Americans
and make this a country I can be proud
of? asked twelve-year-old Sanaa.
According to long time resident Muhammad Rashid Abdul-Haqq, the village of Islamberg was founded over 25
years ago to save the children from the
ghettos of the inner cities, which were
laden with drugs, violence and crime.
We have lived peacefully here with
our neighbors for decades. Fatimah,
age 17, expressed in her letter to the
President, Robert Doggart and those
who think like him have tried to harm
a community that have done nothing
wrong. Local neighbors of the Islamberg village have expressed outrage

at the plot and showed concern for the

community.
Abdul-Haqq pointed out that the
childrens fears have found no peace
due to Doggarts release from jail to
house arrest after a plea deal was struck
that only charges him with communication of a threat. Shahid, age 13, wrote,
When I heard this news I didnt want
to go outside anymore. I thought maybe
someone might come out of the woods
and try to kill me.
The
overwhelming
sentiment
from the children of Islamberg is the
struggle to both understand why their
community was targeted and to ask
that Doggart is sent to jail so that they
can get back to their lives. Haleemah
Safiyya, 15, reveals to President Obama
just what she hopes for her future children, ...a life where they are not judged
by how they pray, what religion they
follow or how they dress. Perhaps
Haleema Safiyya and the other children
of Islamberg will find comfort to know
that in President Obamas remarks at
the White House Iftar dinner he firmly
stated, As Americans, we insist that
nobody should be targeted because of
who they are, or what they look like,
who they love, how they worship. We
stand united against these hateful acts.
Neither terrorism nor hate crime
charges have been filed in the case.

Peace Keepers
The Western York County NAACP
hosted a Peace Keepers March in
York, SC. The meeting was organized
by Steve Love, NAACP state leader.
Faith groups, community leaders,
law enforcement officials and county
residents began the march at York City
Hall and concluded downtown at the
York County Courthouse.
Notable figures such as former Congressman John Spratt, Reverend Sam
McGregor of the Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, and Sayeed Shakir of
Holy Islamville shared words promoting respect, love and unity between
people of all faiths, races and creeds.
Rev. McGregor, earlier this month,
organized a delegation of Christian
clergy who visited local Muslims at
Islamville, which was under threat with
its sister community in upstate NY by
a domestic terrorist and his militia affiliates.
The Peace Keepers March was a
planned demonstration of local commitment to peace and justice in the
face of rising Islamophobia witnessed
throughout the United States that hit
close to home for York, SC residents.
In addition, the marchs theme
resonated feelings of timeliness though
planned in advance of the Charleston
terror incident where nine people were
ruthlessly murdered by Dylann Roof.
The Charleston shooting reinforced
the need to reinvigorate South Carolina
communities with respect, tolerance,

interfaith dialogue and communication
among residents.
Holy Islamvilles parent organization, The Muslims of America Inc,

will be presenting a plaque in honor

of the event and has been inspired to
establish an advocacy group that will
focus on civil rights for Americans
of African descent. These endeavors
were imbued by the color and cultural
diversity on full display at the march
that were demonstrative of true American values and a genuine sense of unity
that invoked in all a combined sense of
compassion, humility and pride.

year in Chapel Hill, and mentioned the
armed rally outside an Arizona mosque
last month. As Americans, he said,
we insist that nobody should be targeted because of who they are, or what
they look like, who they love, how they
worship. We stand united against these
hateful acts.
Regarding the Presidents statement,
Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani,
Vice Chancellor of IQOU said, This
is a very masterful statement that has

achieved winning the hearts of the

entire Islamic world. The Republic of
China should take lessons and uphold
the rights of their Muslim citizens
by allowing them to practice their
religion. As an example to China,
Pakistan welcomed their President Xi
Jinping as a friend to the nation. Subsequently, Muslims in Pakistan were
shocked and horrified to discover that
their Muslim brethren in China were so
severely oppressed. Muslims are brothers and sisters to one another, as Islam
transcends boundaries of race, color
and creed. Chinese friendship with the
government of Pakistan does little to
affect the enemy status they have been
given by Pakistans citizens. Continued
oppression in Xinjiang could create
difficulties for the Chinese to fulfill
their political and economic agenda in
Pakistan. Nonetheless, there is hope
that China will end the subjugating
practices against the Uighurs.
Additionally, Sheikh Gilani and the
Ulema discussed the lack of assistance
from the United Nations for the Rohingya people of Burma who are being
systematically exterminated due to
their race, religion and culture. They
ask, Why isnt the United Nations actively working to end the genocide?
The tragic events occurring globally
continue to be addressed by scholars
and Ulema committed to helping humanity. A glimmer of light, perhaps,
and surely, the partnership of nations
and religious entities, and actions
within the Muslim world will combat
the enemies of salaam (peace).

In November 2013, the Islamic Post
published an article about employment
discrimination titled Muslim Woman
Takes On Goliath and Wins. Umm
Hani Khan, a Muslim woman working for Abercrombie & Fitch, was
threatened with job termination when
she refused to remove her hijab, the
traditional head covering. She took a
stance to protect her rights with a lawsuit against the clothing retailer over
the firing, resulting in a legal victory.
The same clothier is back in the news
for employment discrimination against
another Muslim woman. The U.S.
Supreme Court ruled in early June in
favor of Samantha Elauf, an American
Muslim woman who wears a hijab and
was denied a job at Abercrombie &
Fitch. Elauf stated the company did not
employ because her religious identity
violates Abercrombies look policy.
During oral arguments, Supreme
Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor pointed
out that the case is unlike most employment discrimination cases in that the
hiring manager at Abercrombie has
openly admitted lowering Elaufs score
upon learning from another manager
that the hijab violated company policy.
Samantha and Umm Hani Khans
cases illustrate a number of important
issues in modern America, serving as
landmark cases on workplace discrimination and religious freedom.
As America grows in religious diversity, the decision impacts how Ameri-

cans account for these differences and

how guarantees of religious freedom
extend to the places of work. This is
especially true for people who, like
Samantha and Umm Hani, identify with
and maintain visible articles of faith.
The Courts decision shapes how
Americans think about pluralism and
equal opportunity in this country. Government policies on religious freedom
influence what people perceive to be
acceptable.
Current policies on workplace discrimination have gaping loopholes that
allow employers to hire and/or fire on
the basis of appearance. Consequently,
the American workforce does not truthfully reflect or leverage the diversity of
the country.
Most Americans affected by such
discriminatory policies belong to minority faith communities, thus, both
court decisions send a message that religious freedom and equal opportunity
are relevant to the workplace.
Samantha stated, I am not only
standing up for myself, but for all
people who wish to adhere to their faith
while at work. Observance of my faith
should not prevent me from getting a
job.
These rulings serve as an opportunity to improve existing legislation on
workplace discrimination and religious
freedom. Americans are one step closer
to not having to choose between their
faith and their work.

Exploring the Psychology of AFRICan AMERICAN Muslims

The Muslims of America (TMOA),
represented by its legal counsel, Tahirah
Amatul-Wadud, was invited to the University of Pennsylvania by the Muslim
Wellness Foundation to discuss the
plight of African American Muslims.
Ms. Amatul-Wadud shared guidance
and remedies for the troubles facing African Muslims in the US today. TMOA
is primarily an indigenous American
Muslims of African descent community
lead by Al Sufi Sheikh Mubarak Ali
Gilani of the Qadri Tariqa. They are
known for pioneering successful models
of self-sufficient living and positive
environments for African American
Muslims throughout the Americas since
1979. Sheikh Gilani is also a leading
doctor in the science of Quranic psychiatry and has treated patients all over
the world. Ms. Amatul-Wadud, along
with Tahirah H. Clark, Esq., of Islamberg, NY, have been internationally recognized for their representation of The
Muslims of America in groundbreaking
litigation combating Islamophobia.
Ms. Amatul-Wadud addressed at-

tendees in a workshop entitled Standing at the Crossroads: Racism, Islamophobia and State Sanctioned Violence,
She presented Sheikh Gilanis message,
which was divine and uplifted those
who heard it. People must stand united
in advocating for their rights using the
democratic process. We must challenge
injustice by rallying and petitioning
our government. Calls for revenge and
retaliation are not effective because
that will only bring more punishment
and mistreatment to us as victims.
There are those who wish to cause
tumult in the United States and they
will provoke marginalized minorities to
revolt against their own homeland. This
would trigger martial law and civil war.
We cannot allow this to happen. In the
wake of the Doggart attempted religious
massacre and the political assassination
of Senator Rev. Clementa Pinckney of
Charleston, SC Muslims and Christians
must unite and must take steps hand in
hand - against injustice, but we must do
so without violence.

schools and universities. Stop watching
and engaging in lewdness. Hold fast to
the rope of Allah, that being Holy Quran
and Sunnah. Remain steady in the face
of calamity and disaster. Things are
tough. They are going to get tougher.
She continued in presenting Sheikh
Gilanis remedies and antidotes for the
times: Remembrance of Allah is special
prayers and recitations and to seek Allahs forgiveness. This will give you a
spirit of steadfastness and determination. Allah will open ways for your success in this world and the next. He will
save you from the attacks of Shaitan and

the worldly temptations.

Upon hearing the message a participant embraced Ms. Amatul-Wadud
saying, Your community is the only
one which has been able to create a selfsufficient and self-sustaining society
within a society. That is a miracle.
Halima Bey of New York, a family
therapist, attended the conference. She
gave her thoughts at the conclusion
of the conference. People are mad.
People are mad at the government, mad
at being oppressed, mad at being held
back. But the call cannot be toward
adding more fuel to the fire because otherwise an inferno ensues and African
Americans are further hurt. I appreciated Sheikh Gilanis message to go back
to basics. In my practice as a therapist,
I know the issues people complained of
here, such as lack of jobs, are not unique
to African American Muslims, but this
is the population who will be met with
aggression if they react with even the
slightest hostility, she stated.

Santa Clara, Peru - In the heart of

the Peruvian Amazon, indigenous
healers have long cultivated plants on
this dense patch of the rainforest to
treat a host of ills, including headaches,
nausea, inflammation, skin rashes and
menstrual pains.
Once dismissed as primitive charlatans, traditional healers are increasingly
being recognized by scientists for their
very real knowledge.
Their skills and knowledge, acquired
over thousands of generations spent experimenting with Amazonian wildlife,
are now viewed as key to unlocking the
rain forests vast potential to provide
new pharmaceuticals.
Some prescription medicines in the
US are derived from living organisms,
coming from biological sources. The
Amazon is rich in animal and plant
species, it is the most biodiverse ecosystem.
Yet, testing plants for potential treatments is a long and costly business.
Thats where native peoples come in,
with their huge head start over Western

medicine on identifying the jungles

active compounds.
But younger generations in the
Amazon are increasingly rejecting their
ancestral roots for a Western lifestyle.
That means scientists are losing the
shortcut of indigenous knowledge to
finding the most promising natural substances in the worlds largest tropical
rain forest.
During the 20th century, 90 tribes
are thought to have disappeared across
the Amazon, an area two-thirds the size
of the contiguous United States. Some
were wiped out by Western diseases to
which they had no immunity. Others
vanished as their members abandoned
their traditional culture just to survive.
In the last 15 years, the pace has accelerated as roads, logging, agriculture,
mining and damming increasingly penetrate the jungle, says Michael Harner,
a US anthropologist who has been
studying Amazonian practice of traditional healing for more than 50 years.
Harner notes that protecting the
Amazon jungle will not be enough.

Culture must be maintained, too.

A study of a Colombian tribe, led by
a University of California, San Francisco expert, noted how their healing
tradition is a complex art of diagnosis, examination, communication,
ritual and treatment, which cannot be
saved simply by preserving plants.
No one seems to know for sure how
many traditional healers still survive
across the Amazon. But the scale of
their natural cabinet is staggering. Just
in the northwestern Amazon, locals use
1,300 different plants medicinally.
Mark Plotkin, a Harvard and Yaletrained ethnobotanist whos spent
three decades studying Amazonian
medicine, is dismissive of claims that,
the healing practices of native peoples,
is just mumbo-jumbo witchcraft or
that Western science has all the answers. Amazonian natives have been
using this stuff for thousands of years.
Of course, they have observed whether
it works, says Plotkin.
In the Amazon, indigenous healers
and their entire way of life are simply
unable to compete with modernity.
Even for Amazonian Indians who
want to maintain their ancient traditions, the bind of financial dependency
and the depletion of natural resources
are propelling them into the cities in
search of paid work.
Behind them, they are leaving aging
traditional healers without the chance to
pass on their unique knowledge to the
younger generations.
