Economise resources through proper handling of PEOPLE:
1. Know how to reach out
The success of an organization depends on people who
composed it. In order to economise resources everybody must
know how to reach out to one another. A healthy work
relationship lessens the stress and pressure while working. Thus,
it will build a strong team to finish every task efficiently.
2. Recognize suggestion
Listening is the name of the game. Managers have the task to
collate ideas and suggestion which can be useful in attending
to clients needs. Brainstorming is also a helpful means to
gather new strategy in planning and conducting discharging/
loading operations.
3. Communication is the key
Miscommunication, and over/under communication is the root of
all failure. An efficient working team knows how to build a good
communication among them. This will help the task being done
smoothly and lessen delays in addressing conflicts that may
arise during the course of operation.
Availability of communication line; (phones, radio, computer
access and alike) this are not limited to in-group communication
but also availability of devices to attend the needs of client for
inquiry, confirmation or verification.
Learn how to simplify things for every ones understanding of
every procedure to be taken and task to be done. Have the time
to explain everything clearly to avoid mishaps at work. An
effective communication will bring easy understanding, trust and
cooperation among the member.
4. Motivation through positive reinforcement
A simple recognition will boost the confidence of every worker
to do best every time. Thus, assuring everybody to work with
outmost fineness in work.
Instead of just giving a bad comment about their work without
explaining how it should be done. Setting yourself as an
example and informing them of their flaw are one of the
means in addressing mistake and failure of a worker. Hence, this
will make them learn the process, prevent in doing the same
mistake again and avoid making error in work which tends to
cost money, effort and time.
This will boost up the morale and self-esteem of the worker
which will reduced absenteeism.
Minimize expenses through quality of WORK:
1. Initiative is a work with heart

8 hrs of work per day is not enough to finish the task but it is
possible with the help of initiative. If we love our family we need
to value our work. Everybody must realized that our work do
not start to whatever time we wish to go nor ends whenever we
feel like going home. But it starts everyday we wake up and ends
in going to sleep. For example, if we went early to office we
should start the work as soon as possible rather than just sitting
and waiting for the time to start.
We must also realize that we are not limited to do the task given
to us but extends to every job we need to finish as team
everyday. Everybody must avoid the idea of individualism
because this industry will not succeed with just one man.

2. Aim for excellence


Mastery of work (evaluation/ internal assessment) to address
improvement and points needed to developed further as a team
Conducting training and seminars to refresh and keeping
everybody abreast of the current procedure and strategy to be
used in operation.
Conduct a regular weekly meeting to raise new points and
improvements.
3. Readiness and alertness
Keep communication line open at all times to be updated with
the progress of operation.
Be aware of the guidelines and processes in the work place.
Be organize, list down the task to be done to avoid over time in
the office.
Team leader has the task to secure that all things must ran
smoothly and all procedure for operation are followed precisely.
A leaders duty is not just to make orders but he must lead by
example.
Spend less through SAFETY and EQUIPMENT usage:
1. Invest to new heavy equipment
Availability of heavy equipment at all times is a key in doing the
task easier and quicker. This is will avoid disrupted working
schedule.
Suitable needed equipment for operation is a must to avoid
delays and raise productivity.
New heavy equipment will assure efficiency and avoid accidents
at work.
Check equipment before using and always conduct a regular
maintenance.
2. Follow safety procedure (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment)
A safe working environment will not only lessen accidents but
also lessen the expenses of the organization. This will reduce
insurance/ health care cost, the risk of paying fines and facing
litigation.
It is also an inexpensive means to promote a sustainable
development of the organization.

Strengthen the safety division by reviewing the existing


safety rules and procedure and guidelines for evaluation.
Conduct a meeting at least once a month in raising new ideas
and attending to safety flaws.
Conduct seminars and training to be fully aware of the safety
guidelines. Avoiding loss of man power and resources.

3. Make track of time


Giving value of time is the easiest way in achieving a quality service
without wasting a lot of energy and resources. Having the time
properly managed prevents delays in operations.
Make use of time table
Omit distraction at work be realistic in scheduling time to avoid
postponement of vessel/ cargo.
Do not leave work hanging and learn to prioritize task.
4. document/ paper management
Keep everything documented
Use electronic materials to avoid unnecessary use of paper. For
documents need not be in hard copy, avoid printing it.
