Feminism is a concept where you notice the problems and harmful events faced by women which are
caused by gendered practices.
To me, no matter what your sex is, when you care
to womens problem, then you are a feminist!

Historically, patriarchal
system and gendered
social order has oppressed women for a
long time. This realization that women are in
disadvantaged in many
aspects of their lives
trigger the rise of feminism. Feminism exists
because women want
to challenge that notion
(Lorber, 2005)

What do
you
think?
Based on the political goals, feminism is divided into three categories:
1. Gender reform feminisms (liberal, Marxist, socialist, postcolonial)
2. Gender resistance feminism (radical, lesbian, psychoanalytic, standpoint)

3. Gender rebellion feminism (multicultural, feminist studies of men, social construction, postmodern, third-wave)
(Lorber, 2005)

Another category of feminism is based on the time

period:
1. first-wave feminism
2. Second-wave feminism
3. Third-wave feminism
(Lorber, 2005; Weiner, 1994)

The idea of gender resistance feminism

lies on the patriarchal system. This
type of feminism believes that patriarchy is really hard to eradicate and
therefore, women should create their
own space to be able to think and act
freely.
