PUBLICATIONS
Anti-Heroes as Free Spirits: Nymphets & Paradoxical Madness
Clayton Universitys Philosophical Journal

2014

Nietzsche describes free spirits as people who have embraced freedom of the will and experienced great liberation from
the pillars of society such as religion, morality, government, etc. I propose that the anti-heroes, Humbert Humbert from
Vlamdir Nabokovs Lolita and John Yossarian from Joseph Hellers Catch-22 can be compared to Nietzsches description
of a free spirit in that they reject their cultures maxims.

The Message of Platonic Myth and the Birth of a Modern Mythology

Georgia Southern Universitys Undergraduate Philosophical Journal

2014

Borrowing from the Platonic Dialogues Phaedrus & Republic, I argue that modern America tells its mythologies through
film, and these myths are dysfunctional because the messages they convey are to search for pleasures that feed the souls
appetites, rather than elevating the soul to search for higher truth.
