The QualistarPlus models and the IEC 61000-4-30 standard
The latest models in the QualistarPlus range of three-phase network and power analysers
draw on the experience gained with their predecessors and offer further improvements.
We can now state unambiguously that the Qualistar Plus C.A 8336-33 (PowerPad III
AEMC 8336-33) models comply with Class B as defined in the IEC 61000-4-30 standard
when the instruments are used with the Power Analyzer Transfer 2 processing software.
Reminders
"The present standard provides appropriate measurement methods and
performance requirements without setting thresholds."
In edition 2 of the IEC 61000-4-30, the following power-supply quality parameters are
taken into account:
Industrial frequency
Amplitude of the power-supply voltage
Flicker
Temporary power-supply voltage dips and surges
Power outages
Transient voltages
Power-supply voltage unbalance
Voltage harmonics
Voltage interharmonics
Signals transmitted on the power-supply voltage
Rapid voltage variations.
It is specified that a measuring instrument can measure all or some of the parameters
identified in the present standard and preferably uses the same class for all the
parameters. The instrument manufacturer should declare which parameters are
measured, which class is used for each of the parameters, the Udin range for which each
of the classes is fulfilled, and all the necessary requirements, as well as the accessories
(synchronization, sensors, calibration time, temperature ranges, etc.) to comply with each
of the classes.
The IEC 61000-4-30 standard specifies 3 instrument classes:
"A" for "Advanced"
"S" for "Surveys"
"B" for "Basic.
The results from the tests carried out with the new QualistarPlus models were satisfactory.
This means that we can state that, according to all these parameters, the C.A 8336 and
C.A 8333 offer Class B measurements.
The methods and accuracies specified for Class B will therefore be compared with those of the C.A 8336 and C.A 8333,
their v4.0 firmware and their Power Analyzer Transfer 2 processing software.
The declared input voltage (Udin) is "the value obtained from the declared power-supply voltage (Uc) of a transformation
ratio. "

The Power Analyzer Transfer 2 processing software performs post-processing for connection of the
threshold overrun results for each channel in order to provide the user with characterizations (evaluation
data) of polyphase voltage dips, surges and outages in compliance with the standard. As the C.A 8331 is not
equipped with the Alarm mode, it cannot meet this requirement and would therefore be outside the
framework of the standard.
