Two master plan options were developed for the new southeast regional park, consisting of the
140-acre A. Perry Philips Park and 320-acreGans Creek Recreation Area. The public was invited
to give their comments on the two options through a Public Comment Form (survey), which was
made available on the web, at the two public meetings held, and at four locations throughout the
city (ARC, Daniel Boone Building, Daniel Boone Regional Library, and the Parks and
Recreation main office). The survey was conducted from December 10, 2008 - January 31, 2009.

OTHER COMMENTS
(Text comments compiled into categories)
Don't like RV campsite idea 4
Provide stream buffer plan and less development in southern portion of plan 3
Request for equine access to both sides of Gans Creek (including the protected portion) 2
Our youth don't have a place to ride horses-Rudolph Bennet is too far away. 2
Likes the ides of primitive camping over RV because it is more environmentally friendly
Suggests combining RV and tent camping along with installing pay showers
Keep playing fields near highway where the view/experience is already compromised by the traffic
and keep the natural and wooded areas untouched by the plans
Seasonal amenities such as aquatics and ice rink promote strong community
Columbia needs ice rink closer than Jeff. City because parents can't get their kids to and from
practices during the week during school sessions
Rudolph Bennet has good info. On how to build good equestrian trails
Tax payers money should not benefit private schools like Columbia Catholic
Public meetings are a mockery because they are dominated by special interest groups
Columbia doesn't need another water park-ice rink is the only facil. we don't already have
Apply LEED and Impact Development principles when using tax payer funded projects such as
parks
Surely we should place a higher importance on protecting the natural resources on this property
Concern for future archery hunting and overdevelopment of Gans Creek especially if equine project
goes through-have only single trails going through the creek
Combine key elements from both plans keeping in mind the need to have revenue providing facil.
and opportunities for passive recreation-Thank you!
Have as much area for natural preservation as possible-area for Scouts would be great because
we would be instilling in them the need for environmental awareness and just getting outside
Keep light and sound pollution away from RBSP especially in the Gans Creek Area-a trail connect
would be good but make the rules very clear to trial users
It would be nice to have a gazebo with gardens for weddings and special events with private
entrance not accessible by outer roads-also more parking near lake front with spray ground and
beach- put in play areas fro kids near Columbia Catholic
