1/ General conditions

Médecins du Monde (MDM) is a French INGO working in Myanmar in the field of HIV/AIDS
prevention and care activities on high-risk groups, such as drug users and sex workers in
Yangon and Kachin State. In Pyapon Township, Community Health Care program to improve
access to health care for the population in remote areas.

The counsellor works for a Yangon program team aiming at STI/HIV/AIDS care and prevention program
with vulnerable groups (SW, MSM).The counsellor’s mission is to provide the quality counselling and
education related to HIV, STI, Hepatitis

2/HIERACH

The counselor works under the direct authority and responsibility of the Clinic team leader, to
which she/he has to report.

3/ Duties description
PERFORM HIGH QUALITY VCCT SERVICE
• Provide high quality pre and post test counselling service to target population
• Provide family/ couple counselling, psychosocial counselling
• Conduct counselling and education regarding Hepatitis and STI (RPR)

RECORD, REPORT AND ENSURE THE RELIABILITY OF DATA

• Management of VCCT records systematically
• Report VCCT data to Project manager and cross check with data clerk and lab
technician for quality of the data

COLLABORATE AND COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER TEAMS FOR SMOOTH

FUNCTIONING
• Coordinate with the clinic team on VCCT related activities
• Inform problem issues to clinic team leader and find solution in coordination
with clinic team and preventive team
• Close collaboration with clinical staff and lab staffs to ensure optimal
coordination between VCCT, Lab and clinic services
• Participate in training component of MDM (e.g VCCT in VPET, positive
prevention and other related trainings)
• Train the peer educators according MDM policy.
• Participate in night outreach prevention activities (once/month)
• Promotes a friendly, non-judgmental and professional approach and respects
the rights of all patients
• Keeps a good contact with owners of sex establishments and other groups we
are working with
• Attend seminars, workshops or capacity building activities as requested
• Participâtes actively in médical meetings and program staff meetings

3/ Requested skills
• A person with one experience as counsellor
• Degree same level with BA or BSc ( basic counselling certificates from
ACT –preferred )
( AIDS counselling team )
• Proven team working ability
• Autonomy, open minded and flexible
• Fair listening and speaking skills (English/Myanmar)
• Basics Computer Skills (Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of prevention of HIV/STI
• Can work under stressful condition ( from difficult patient )
• Respect to MDM policy
• Good interpersonal communication skill
