Free Parking: There is no charge for parking at Shore Line East stations, except at the
New Haven Union, State Street and New London stations.
Assistance: Persons with disabilities are encouraged to call the directory information
number in advance if assistance is needed. Stations are handicapped accessible and train
personnel will assist in boarding/detraining.
Baggage: Only items which can be safely carried and stored by the passenger are permitted
on board the trains. Items which can cause inconvenience or safety hazards to other
passengers are not permitted and there is no checked baggage on Shore Line East trains.
Bicycles: Bicycles are permitted on-board SLE trains operating between New Haven and
New London (including all intermediate stations) only. All bicycles must be stored in a safe
and secure manner to allow emergency egress by passengers. The cyclist should remain in
close proximity to the bicycle, and must obey instructions of the train crew. Bicycle groups
should contact 203-497-3369 prior to travel to ensure space availability. For travel west of
New Haven, please consult Amtrak or MTA Metro-North Railroad for their current policies.
Amenities: Lavatory facilities are available on trains. Station lavatory facilities are available
in New London, Old Saybrook and New Haven only.
No Smoking: Smoking is prohibited on trains.
Service Disruptions: Should we experience a disruption that will cause delays and/or
cancellation of Shore Line East train(s), every effort will be made to advise passengers by
means of station public address announcements or advisory to local radio stations.
Pets: Trained service animals assisting the disabled are permitted without restriction. All
pets must either be leashed or confined in a closed, ventilated container to be permitted
onboard the train. Pets must also not annoy other passengers and not occupy seats.

T I C K E T T Y P E S & R E G U L AT I O N S
The following ticket types are available as noted below. A combination of intermediate
tickets will not be accepted for point-to-point travel.
One-Way: One-Way tickets are sold on-board trains and are available at the New Haven,
Old Saybrook and New London Amtrak ticket windows.
Ten-Trip: Ten-Trip tickets are only sold at the New Haven, Old Saybrook and New London
Amtrak ticket windows and are valid for nontransferable use by the named and signed
passenger for 180 days.
Monthly: Monthly and Monthly Plus Bus tickets are sold by mail or by phone, and are
available at the New Haven, Old Saybrook and New London Amtrak ticket windows. The
Monthly Plus Bus ticket is honored for travel on all CTtransit New Haven Division bus routes.
To take advantage of the Monthly ticket by mail, call 1-877-CTrides (877-287-4337).
UniRail: The Metro-North UniRail ticket combines Shore Line East with New Haven Line rail
fares into one convenient ticket. They are available as Monthly, Weekly or One-Way tickets.
UniRail tickets are available at any Metro-North ticket window and Metro-North ticket
vending machine. The monthly UniRail ticket is also available online from WebTicket at
www.mta.info or from Metro-North Mail and Ride ticket program at 212-532-4900.
Seniors, persons with disabilities and Medicare Card recipients: Seniors (65 and older),
persons with disabilities and Medicare Card recipients may purchase a reduced fare at 50%
off one-way fares on all Shore Line East trains except morning peak trains. Reduced fare
tickets are available on-board SLE trains.
Shore Line East School Monthly Ticket: Discounted calendar month tickets for students
traveling to and from primary or secondary school. Student must be 18 years old or younger.
Proof of age and Student School Identification Card required. (School Monthly Ticket not
valid for College Students).
Childs Fare: Up to four children 11 years old and younger travel for free with a fare-paying
adult.

CROSS-HONORING OF
S L E M U LT I - R I D E T I C K E T S
Select Amtrak trains now honor valid Shore Line East (SLE) Monthly, Weekly and Ten-Trip
Multi-Ride tickets.
SLE Multi-Ride tickets must be purchased prior to boarding Amtrak trains. Only SLE
Old Saybrook and New London Multi-Ride tickets will be accepted on-board select Amtrak
trains, Monday through Friday only (excluding holidays).
SLE customers must present valid SLE Multi-Ride tickets to the Amtrak conductor
each time they travel.
