Analysis
1. Are there landforms in your community? Pick out a picture of a land form from the
list which is similar to where you live. Tell something about your community.
2. Are landforms important? Why?
Abstraction
What are the different landforms found in your community?
Landforms are the natural shapes or features of lands. There are many different
types of landforms found on the earth.
A mountain is a place on Earths surface that is much higher than the land
around it.
A valley is a lowland area between higher lands such as mountains.
A canyon is a deep valley with very steep sides.
A plain is a flat area on Earths surface.
A plateau is a flat area higher than the land around it.
An island is land that is completely surrounded by water.

Activity Sheet 5: Bodies of Water in your Community
1. Group yourselves into 5. Have a photocopy of the landforms.
2. Match a landform picture with its description in your notebook. Cut out the landform
pictures. Glue each landform next to its description. Make a poster board for this
activity.
3. Answer the following questions:
a. Are there landforms in your community?
b. Pick out a picture of a land form from the list which is similar to where you live. Tell
something about your community. Do this in your notebook. Are landforms important?
