Increase skills in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe
InDesign.
What I first did was look on pinterest and got an
idea of what I wanted to do. After I had an idea,
I sketched various logos. I used Adobe Illustrator
to create this project. Making the design on the
front of the card, I used the shape tool to create
the mountains then I created a circle around
that. I used the line tool to create the rectangles
inside the circle. I outlined the stokes then
used the shape builder tool to use create all the
separate shapes to color them all differently. It
definitely took awhile. I used this same process
with the back of the card. I used the shape
builder tool to also create the boxes with the
text inside. With the stationary I just linked my
original logo to the document to Adobe InDesign.

Using basic skills in Adobe Illustrator to create a
logo for a company of my choice.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create a logo for
a clothing company. Madala Outfitters is an
outdoor retial company. Madala means bear in
Tagalog. I looked up pictures of a bear I pasted
it on Adobe Illustrator and I traced the image
with the pen tool and adjusted the paths with
anchor points. I copied and paste the first shape
of a bear and sized it down to create another
bear. The placement of the company name was
intentional so the transition to the logo and the
name was seemless.

Increased skills in Adobe Photoshop by
experiemting with masking three photos
together. Ability to conceptualize visual
messages.
I first took a picture of the women from the
internet. I found the pictures of the temple and
the cherry blossoms from lds.org. I placed the
women on a third of the page and I placed the
pictures of the temple and the trees on top of the
women. I use the screen label to merge the two
photos into one. I adjusted the curves, exposure,
vibrances, and contrast on the adjustments
panel. I adjusted it in such a way that the photo
came out to be warmer. I then created a circle
and adjusted the stroke of the shape to match
the color of the body copy. I then created a blue
rectangle box to add contrast to the project.

Find and scan a high quality photograph.
Use Microsoft Word to create a full bleed event
ad for a charity organization.
I first scanned a picture that I found in Sports
Illustrated. I then placed the image in Microsoft
word and used the shape tool to create three
diamond shapes. I changed the opacity of the
diamond shape figures against the picture in the
background. After positioning the shapes where
I wanted them, I added the body copy and title of
the ad. I used the rule of thirds when to place my
information. Placed the details of the event on
the bottom third of the page. I continued to use
the rule of thirds when it came to the date, time
and place.

Objectives

Using all Adobe programs interchangably.

Understanding how folds work and using visual
communication effectively.

Process

After sketching I used a lot of time on Adobe

Illustrator and photoshop. I edited the photos
I used in this brochure. I was able to link all
of my designs in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
Illustrator links onto Adobe InDesign where
I continued with my project. I organized my
brochure using the rule of thirds. I adjusted the
text and bounding boxes how I wanted them.
After it was all done, I went to alphagraphics
and I printed it several times to make sure
everything went how it was.

Learned basic photography skills. Used
photoshop to change the contrast, brightness
and saturation to the image. Learned how to
accurately upload and size an image.
I first took the photo of Rudy in the ORC. I
placed the image in photoshop and adjusted the
levels, vibrance and color of the photo. I created
the orange box and made it slightly transparent.
I placed the text next, made it all left justified.
I copied and pasted a Patagonia logo from the
internet. I used the magic wand to take out the
different colors behind the mountains. I filled in
the background with green and also made a copy
of the mountains to be white. I placed the white
layer of mountains towards the back so it looked
like snow on the mountains. After the logo and
the text box was created, I created rectangles for
the color swatches. After everything was how I
wanted it, I flattened the image and saved it as a
jpeg.

Better understanding HTML coupled with CSS.

Formating designs that are compatiable with
web design.

Process

I first used html to create the basic website then

used css to create the rest of the design of my
website. I placed and centered the logo. I then
typed out what I wanted the website to say. I
changed the background to be an image of the
sides of mountains. I changed the font and the
colors of the borders to create a cohesive look.

Create a stationary and business card for a
company. Using design principles of gestalt.
Using Adobe programs interchangably.
After finishing the logo for the business card,
I then placed the logo onto a new InDesign
document. I changed the opacity to be very
light so text can be written on top of the page. I
created four strokes to create the heading of the
page. The four strokes also resembles the four
colored boxes in the design.

Objectives

Create graudate leardership flier that inporates

design principles. Get familiar with Adobe
InDesign and use knowledge of typography to
create contrast within the flier.

Process

I researched designs that I like and sketched

what I wanted. I wanted my flier to look simple,
yet sophisticated. I used Adobe InDesign to
create my flier. I first placed my picture and
then created the text, which is surrounded by
a good amount of white space. I made the date,
time and place larger to create a focus on that
particular information. I then placed the logo
on the bottom right hand corner of the page to
define the company.
