Photo Design Project

Description: Everyone likes a good game of foosball, right? (Everyone, that is, except
for waterboys mom). This is just a simple picture of a foosball table with a fun, witty
quote from one of my favorite comedians, Mitch Hedberg.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): This was all done with Photoshop. I used the eye drop function to create the proper color scheme that I was talk
later. At first, I had no idea what I could do with any of the picture I had taken earlier ion the week. When I cam across the Mitch Hedberg quote, I knew I could create
something fun with the picture and the quote. I created a plan on how I would align
the text and the added shapes in order to create a well-balanced and captivating picture with proper colors.
Message: Foosball is a fun and entertaining activity.
Audience: All ages. No specific demographic.
Top Thing Learned: I learned that Photoshop is more than just making pictures look
like they were taken with a better quality camera. I learned about color schemes and
how to ensure that I use proper colors that are directly from the picture. The eye drop
tool was a big help for me that I didnt know about before.
Color scheme and color names: I used green, gold, and brown for the Earth Tone color scheme

Montage
Description: Masking project. I used tow different pictures in order to create an inspiring poster.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): I
used on picture as the main background and added another one of
a man praying to create a focal point. I cropped away all the background of the second picture so that only the silhouette would be
visible. In order to make the text be more readable, I used the drop
shadow function to bring it our more.
Message: Dont lose hope. Better days are always on the horizon.
Audience: Young adults who are struggling.
Top Thing Learned: I really had a hard time grasping the masking
idea. My main stumbling block was getting the proper amount of
pixles. I learned how to properly adjust the picture in order to have
the right amount of pixles. I learned about the drop shadow function, and how to combine two images into one.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: Around the
silhouette of the man praying
Color scheme and color names:

Brochure
Description: This is a brochure to advertise a company that helps
business use social media more effectively.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): InDesign was used to create this
along Illustrator.
Message: This is a professional group of experts here to help your
business grow in the public eye.
Audience: Small and big business owners
Top Thing Learned: I didnt realize how simple it was to make a
tri-fold brochure until this project. I really enjoyed expanding my
creativity to create something for a business that I hope to go into
someday.
Color scheme and color names: Blue, White, Grey, and Red

that writes and supplies childrens books.

the logo and title and pasted into an inDesign page and created the rest of the letter head and business card.
Message: We are a book company that provides entertainment
for children.
Audience: kids ages 3-10
Top Thing Learned: Every week I realize how simple it is to
make things like this. This week, I learned a lot but I really enjoyed learning how to make the water color mark. It took me
a few attempts to get it right.
Color scheme and color names: Primary colors. Red, Yellow,
Blue

Event Ad
Description: This is an ad that is advertising a 007 movie night. Im a huge Bond
fan so I decided to create something that I would be excited about.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): As I began to create this
ad on Word, I started with two James Bond pictures. I felt that made look too
busy so I ended up with just one. The one I used was a picture I scanned from a
007 book in the McKay library. On Word, I used the narrow margins tab, boarder, fill effects, shapes, and shadow functions in order to create what you see
above.
Message: I used the black and white look and proper alignment to convey a
message of mystery and sophistication. Two things that James Bond exemplifies
very well.
Audience: 007 fans
Color scheme and color names: I used fill effects to create the gradient scheme
as the background
Top Thing Learned: I was not aware of all the different functions word had in
order to create a legitimate looking flyer. I learned how to locate and use them
on a beginners level and I look forward to working with them more and become
more knowledgeable.
Title Font Name & Category: I used a decorative font that can also be considered sans serif
Copy Font Name & Category: Bernard MT Condensed. Modern
Scanned images used, sources, original sizes, location of scanner used: The main
image of Bond is the one I scanned. I found in a book in the library and I used
the scanner near the circulation desk on the first floor.

Flier
Description: This is my first project using InDesign. It is a flier that is promoting a Graduation leadership conference.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I started out with a few
sketches on a piece of paper. Once I had a basic idea of what kind of flier I
wanted to create, I started to use InDesign to construct what I had in mind.
In my design, I used only two types of typography. I tried to incorporate
some asymmetry but it didnt work out too well in my first draft. I will move
some things around for my final copy in order to have better asymmetry.
Message: Graduation is not a time to start living a free, careless life. Its the
time to think seriously about your future as you enter the adult, professional
world.
Audience: High School seniors that are nearing graduation.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to make fliers in general. I have never
done this before so it was challenging but fun to learn more about.
