Did the disastrous progress of
telecom sector end with 2009?
A number of varying opinions are circulating in the telecom sector
about the aftermath of last year - a year that triggered under multiple
internal and external threats. Is the year as successful as it has been
portrayed by the concerned authorities? Is the attitude of government
encouraging for a sector that generates maximum revenue? Who is
responsible for the downward performance of the sector? The cellular

There is much potential in the sector that can be exploited only
through positive and friendly policies. The delay in 3G services is not a
fault of PTA only but also of the government who has failed in devising
infrastructure. The government is failed in solving the very basic needs
of public. There is no electricity and security. PTA is trying to regularise
the sector but there is still room for improvement. It is shameful to see Zubair Ahmed Kasuri, publisher of FLARE

medium. The medium provides prospects for all
kinds of businesses and their respective

As the rules clearly state that there are no

must appeal to the targeted audience and they
should be able to associate with it. In
conventional ways of advertisement:
• Message is delivered to the masses in a
static form involving negligible levels of user
interaction and not targeting specific audience.
• Not only is the time and cost to market
through these mediums is very high but it is
also impossible to measure its effectiveness.
• If any campaign is launched via such

again costly to react, recall, revise and re-

Comparing the conventional mediums with
the digital ones it is clear:
