Brochure
Description:

A tri-fold brochure.

Date:

7/11/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Photoshop
Illustrator
InDesign

Objectives:

To create a custom tri-fold brochure.

Use the wrap text tool around an image.

Process:

I was able to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create this project and used
masking, selecting, cutting, text wrap, and the pen tool to create each different part
of this project as a whole. The hardest part followed as I learned through trial and
error just how I needed to align my project in order to match up at the end. It came
together and I was rather happy how the experience (and heartache when it came to
printing) came together.

Quality
of Service is
Everything
The kind of equipment I use is up to date by the most
up to date standards in the market today. By using high
quality DSLR cameras for all of my productions and you will
not be disappointed by the look of your finished projects.
Filming certain locations and scenes often call for the use of the Glidecam
2000 or a green screen at your request.
Customer satisfaction is the most important element to the quality and I let all
requests from the customer be fulfilled to the best of my ability.

Logos
Description:

To create a logo fro a company.

Date:
6/7/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create usable logos in the design needed for the company.

To use Adobe Illustrator.

Process:

It all began as I studied the tutorials for the Illustrator program. I then created a
number of sketches then made the drafts for my critiques which then led me to
choose my final design. I happened to be the most proud of it as well. I then wasnt
happy with the message it created by itself so I added new elements to it to define
and show what my product being demonstrated is. The fonts also felt bland so I took
time to find a new combo that I felt showed the personality of the company. I then
felt happy with the results and then changed the color schemes for different outlets
for employers to see later.

Business Card
Description:

Usable business cards for a business.

Date:

6/13/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Illustrator

Objectives:

To create business cards for a company of my choice using Illustrator.

Process:

I was inspired to create an element within Adobe Illustrator that would both be
recognizable but possible to add my own twist to so people would have the chance
to remember my company when they see my logo or hear my company name. I
began with the design of the logo itself and then worked around the ability to import
and export the files away to make the elements work on InDesign as well.

LetterHEad
Description:

To create a usable letterhead format for a company.

Date:

Course/Instructor:

Program(s)/Tools:
Illustrator
InDesign

Objectives:

To import images from Illustrator.

Create a transparent element within the design.

Process:

After I had the design for the logo set I needed to import that image into the
document. I was then able to mess around with and create a border at the top of the
image in which I was inspired from my logo. The ability to use the image from my logo
I felt really helped me make the project come all together and really paid off.

Imaging
Description:

An image with a matching themed border.

Date:
5/2715

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Photoshop

Objectives:

A custom design around a picture that I took to show my knowledge of Photoshop.

Being able to create a poster image with my own photography.

Process:

Once I had in my mind what picture I was going to use, I began to work to edit
the photo for the design I wanted. I wanted to complete the design using a split
complementary color scheme and it worked great with my edited photo after some
tweaking in Photoshop when three main colors emerged from the image, purple,
yellow, and green. With this I then began to add the layers and border sections to the
project and worked to create a good feeling for the over all design I was creating.
The lighting and color scheme all came together and really came to life in my opinion
and really showed me that I know the program of Photoshop in this area and not just
making adjustments to pictures alone.

Montage
Description:

A montage of two images with a quote.

Date:

5/31/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Photoshop

Objectives:

To create a photo montage showing elements of blending, masking, and creative text
options.

Process:

I cropped the background image to 8.511.

I happened across a great pictures of a tree outside and another of a couple on their
wedding day.
Using the brush tool I was able to fade away the image of the couple and make it
blend with the rest of the image.
I tweaked with the coloring of the two photos by using the levels option to create a
more dynamic sight.
I chose a powerful font for my quote and then a contrasting font for the name of the
speaker.

Flier
Description:

Black and white promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference.

Date:
5/9/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
InDesign

Objectives:

To create a flyer using provided elements from an employer.

To include one of the companies logos.

Process:

This design began when I completed my sketches and tried a few different ideas as to
what I wanted the final design to be. This helped me finally choose one that I felt the
most confident about and I went with it. I used an invisible line created from my black
shape to add both contrast and direction to my design, and I had all of my text line
up to it.

Event Ad
Description:

An advertisement for an event.

Date:

5/15/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 03
Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

This color full-bleed event ad to promote a benefit dinner by using Microsoft Word
and a scanner.

Process:

I found a picture from the Teachings of the Prophets manual from the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints and stumbled upon this picture in the manual. I then used
Photoshop to crop and align the image and made it a jpeg. Once I began using Word
I formatted it to fill the entire picture as the background and worked around it from
there. By adding a blue text banner I placed the title for my made-up event I really
began to feel the overall tone of my event ad. I ended up using Microsoft Word,
Epson Scanner, and PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).

Web Page
Description:

A function-able web page for a company.

Date:

Course/Instructor:

Program(s)/Tools:
Illustrator
Photoshop
HTML
CSS
N++

Objectives:

To use HTML to create a web page design for a company.

To match themes from a used logo.
To understand titles, fonts, and subtitles.

Process:

From this project I learned a lot of the basics of HTML and CSS. It was fun to be able
to see what goes into simple programming and how the little steps of programming
goes into making such creative things on the web. I think that learning the different
codes for different sections of design really went to help what I was going for in my
final project.
