11 ibid p. 108
12 There are really eight added taking into account that the Knight Kadosch occupies the 29th degree
and that the three grades 30, 31 and 32 are gathered under the appellation of Prince
of the Royal Secret. Thus, originally, there are only 31 degrees really named.
13 Grasse-Tilly would have signed the License of 33rd degree of Frederick Dalcho le 25 mai 1801,
ie 6 days only before the creation of the Supreme Council of the United States of America.

17 Michel Piquet in a Biography of the Count Auguste de Grasse Tilly for the Supreme Council
of France. He reports in addition that according to this Golden Book it exists a patent delivered
to Dalcho on May, 25, 1801, ie six days before the official creation of the Supreme Council
of the United States, so called Jurisdiction South, and signed by Mitchell in position of Supreme
Grand Commander and Inspector of the 33rd for the United States of America , by Alexander
Grand secretary of the Saint Empire , by La Motta Grand Trsorier du Saint Empire .
In addition, is noted the signature of S. Simpson, Lieutenant Grand Commander for the North
of the United States of America and above all of Auguste de Grasse Sovereign Grand Inspector
of the 33rd and Grand Commander of the occidental French Indias and J.B.M Delahogue
Lieutenant Grand Commander of the Islands of the occidental French Indias. Thus, on May,
25, 1801, date when the Supreme Council of the United States was not yet constituted,
it possesses already a Sovereign Grand Commander and Grasse-Tilly is already 33rd.
Moreover there would be at least two other Supreme Councils in creation, indeed in fonction,
one for the North of the United States and another for the Islands of the occidental French Indias.

6 In 1750 appears for the first time the name of Kadosch, associated to the count of la Tour-du-Pin

The second appearance is dated March 1761, in the frame of the Lodge des Parfaits Amis

But it seems also that the parisian Brother Franois Le Boucher de Lenoncourt, also taught
by Dubarailh, would have simultaneously circulated this grade within the Grand Lodge of France
which would have made of it the top of its Perfect and Sublime Masonry .

8 Some historians, basing on the Constitutions of 1762 and on the titles of some signatories
of the patent delivered to Morin on August, 27 1761, assert that he had then the 25 degrees
of the Rite of Perfection at his disposal. It is forgetting that nobody has ever put the hand
on the original patent and that besides no trace was found of practicing the grade of Prince
of the Royal Secret in France since the departure of Morin towards Saint-Domingue in 1761
until the arrival in Paris of Auguste de Grasse Tilly in 1804.
9 ibid p. 96
10 It was unthinkable that the keystone of the Rite of Perfection would be occupied by a grade
forbidden in France.

FREEMASONRY IN POLAND
A BRIEF OUTLINE OF HISTORY
The first lodge, as recorded, was created in Poland in 1742
in Wisniowiec (Wolhynia) by the nobleman Andrzej Mokronowski.
Mokronowski had just returned from abroad, where he had
been in touch with British and German Freemasons.
The following year the Polish King, August III, who was also
the Sovereign of Saxony, opened the lodge at his court under
authority from Scottish sources. Thus with royal sanctioning
and approval the institution blossomed.
In 1744, Mokronowski, who is considered to be the founder
of Freemasonry in Poland, opened a lodge Trzech Braci
(Three Brethren) in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.
The lodge attained 75 members in a short time. In 1747
a new lodge was opened under the name Trzy Boginie
(Three Goddesses) in Lwow (Lamberg). Also around
the same time lodges were founded in Gdansk (Danzig),
Dukla and other places. It is believed that all these lodges
worked under the Magna Charta 1723 accepted by English
Freemasonry.
At the beginning the Polish Freemasonry had rather very few
indigenous Poles among its members. In 1767, however,
a purely Polish Lodge was founded, called Cnotliwy Sarmata
(The Virtuous Sarmatie). This lodge became the Mother
Lodge of all other Polish lodges.
47
48
After the end of World War Two, the Communists also battled
against Freemasonry, declaring that it had lost its original
progressive character. Only in 1961 did seven Masters
who had been initiated before the war established the mother
lodge Kopernik in the Orient of Warsaw. They did so
on the basis of the authorisation given by the last Grand
Commander, Brother Stanislaw Stempowski, 33 - to Brother
Mieczyslaw Bartoszkiewicz, 33. The Kopernik lodge,
the sister of its exiled Parisian equivalent, was where Polish
democratic opposition was forged. Among its members
was the late Jan Jozef Lipski (died 1991), a leading activist
with the opposition Worker Defence Committee, KOR,
and many present-day democratic and liberal statesmen.

LA MASONERA EN POLONIAUN
RECORRIDO BREVE
Braci ( Tres Hermanos ) cuyo crecimiento alcanza
rpidamente 75 miembros.
Inicialmente
la masonera polonesa tena pocos miembros polacos.

The period from 1919 till 1940 was characterized by strengthening of the Scottish Rite in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia,
acquiring the big reputation and making influence in the social
movements, as well as taking the important portion in Freemasonic activities in Europe and in the world.
Supreme Council of Serbia was led by Georg Weifert until
he moved to the Eternal East, 13th January 1937. His successor
was Duan Milievi, and when he 1939 passed to the Eternal
East, Ljubomir Tomai became the new elected Sovereign
Grand Commander.
For one year, from October 2006 till October 2007, the office
of the Sovereign Grand Commander was performed by
Nenad Manojlovi, until then Lieutenant Grand Commander;
25th October 2007 Predrag Miki Manojlovi was elected
Sovereign Grand Commander, and he performed the duty
until May 2012, when Dragor Hiber was elected, and he is
currently at this office.
In the stormy times before and after the 2nd World War
started, and in the European political turbulences of that period,
the pursuit of Freemasons begins in Serbia, too. This was
the reason for the Supreme Council of Yugoslavia to make
a decision 2nd August 1940 to put itself to sleep.

The Scottish Rite is the outcome, over time, of a combination
of diverse traditions, including the abovementioned gnostic
one, which have influenced both its form and content.
A third problem that fascinates scholars of Masonic history
and thought is why social, political, economic and philosophical
reasons have favoured the osmosis of form and content.
Therefore, reading and reviewing rituals is in fact a constant
work in progress for delving into and improving texts and
content relating to our ancient tradition.
It is vital that Brothers who belong to the Ancient and Accepted
Scottish Rite should practise rectitude and worship truth,
justice and freedom, as well as always acting with tolerance
and wisdom, in all situations whether internal or external.
Consequently, p roselytism should be carried out among
those Freemason Masters whose tendency to realise
within themselves the initiatory content of the Degrees
of the Scottish Rite and to respect its general principles
has been verified. This is what is laid down in the Statutes
of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Italy.
All activities should be carried out with a view to operating
in such a way that the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite
is always a secure reference point, not only for Scottish
Brothers but for all Brothers Freemasons. Especially
at this difficult time Western society is going through,
in which genuine spiritual values have been obscured
by material and vested interests, so it is increasingly
complicated to express certainties and instil trust. Indeed,
the Scottish Rite cannot do without this commitment
and escape from its responsibilities and dialogue
with the profane world. It should have a solid presence
in society and avoid anything that might divide our
counterparts, unrelentingly seeking a way to bring everyone
towards the Original Principle, which stems from harmony
and fraternity.
This interest should not let us forget that the principal mission
of the Scottish Rite is not to achieve political and practical
objectives in general, but rather human development up
the Rites Mysterious Ladder, on which Brothers should
make ever greater efforts to build their Inner Temple. This is
an essential condition for those who wish to flourish in the world
of beauty and virtue, the outcome of a continuous quest aimed
at the substance of the problems that plague humanity
rather than vain profane actions, devoid of concreteness.

AURORE

AURORE
Literally, this name reminds us of the freshness of a young
girls Christian name.
Equally, our Rite is of course a very dignified ageing lady,
but what youthfulness in its Rituals, which have not suffered
a wrinkle in three centuries.
Aurore coming from the Latin ros roris is the dew,
which is that perfume which embalms nature in the morning
dawn before the shedding of the suns rays.
Also, our Rite has received this heavenly dew, whence
we know not, but which yields to our Nature all that humidity
which renders it fit to receive the spiritual Fire.
Aurore, etymologically aurum, gold in Latin, sheds in fact
at dawn that golden colour of the rising sun.
So, my Scottish Brethren, in this way you search for this
spiritual gold, being synonymous with stability, perfection
and immortality.
But as one makes gold from lead, in this way dawn
is inseparable from the setting suns twilight at dusk.
Likewise in our Rituals, the initiates death brings about
a new birth, in the spiritual world.

lappelait Rpke.

POINT OF VIEW

RENEWAL OF HUMANISM
The world is today becoming intensely more complex,
richer in diversities so one cannot expect that one political
and social system overcomes nor this would be desirable.
The diversity of many cultures makes the world richer,
thus preventing the development of society towards
uniformity and totalitarianism. In spite of all past and future
differences and contradictions, a common foundation
of humanity must be established. That is the mission
of a new humanism, which was initially rooted in philosophy,
science and art, looking for universal access to world
problems.
From Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the danger of total destruction
transitted from the field of vision into reality. Preserving life
on Earth becomes the first humanistic imperative.
Survival is not only endangered by the classical and nuclear
weapons, but increasingly by the ecological destruction,
Wilhelm Rpke.

y director, veterano Tommy Lasorda.
