DMSwitch 4000 and DMSwitch 3000 lines.
The DMSwitch 2104G offers intelligent LAN/WAN demarcation and is classified as an EDD-Ethernet
Demarcation Device.
Enables services provisioning for Last-Mile Metro Ethernet customers.
Supports managed access connections according to IEEE 802.3ah (EFM Ethernet First Mile-OAM
Operation, Administration and Maintenance) and IEEE 802.1ag (Connectivity Fault Management).
Compact standalone cabinet with full range AC/DC power supply.
SFP modules are available for the Ethernet WAN ports, enabling the operator to reach different ranges
with different fiber types.
Advanced QoS-Quality of Service tools enable traffic prioritization and bandwidth control at the
demarcation point.
Robust management provided via DMview for multi-platform and multi-user NMS. End-to-end
provisioning and FCAPS- Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, and Security. User-friendly
GUI provides full state-of-events monitoring in addition to configuration and inventory management
functions.

DESCRIPTION
The DMSwitch 2104G is compact yet
sophisticated Ethernet Demarcation Device
providing smart and manageable access
solutions for next generation Metro-Ethernet
networks.
The DMSwitch 2104G provides connectivity
management adhering to the latest industry
standards; IEEE 802.3ah (OAM) and 802.1ag
(CFM), enabling the Metro Ethernet operator to
detect, isolate and verify failures end-to-end,
on the entire network span.
IEEE 802.3ah (OAM) standard provides failure
identification on the physical connection
between 2 devices and NMS notification. The
DMSwitch 2104G is capable of identifying the
remote devices configuration parameters and
constantly monitors the quality of the physical
connection. In the event of failures or even
power loss (also known as dying gasp), the
DMSwitch 2104G transmits the information to
the other switch on the link via pre-defined
messages on the OAM protocol (OAMPDUs).
The device allows for remote loop tests and
validation of the SLA in order to isolate the
failure.

IEEE 802.1ag (CFM) standard provides for

failure identification of service continuity by
monitoring the logical connection. It utilizes
Continuity Test (CCM) messages to detect
failures caused as a consequence of a physical
path or logical connection interruption or
even misconfiguration of services. The CFM
protocol uses mechanisms similar to ping
and traceroute through (LBMs) -loopback
messages and (LTMs)-Link Trace messages,
allowing improved recognition of the correct
failure point in the network. Different domain
levels for maintenance or management (MDs)
allow each operator, services provider, or
customer the complete management of their
network without interference or exposure. This
advanced management capability allows the
operator to adopt an individual approach to
each customer, isolating and re-establishing
circuits without interfering with other services,
or other clients. The DMSwitch 2104G provides
performance monitoring and measurement
of packet loss, packet delay and throughput
according to ITU-T Y.1731 recommendations.

In addition to OAM and CFM standards,

advanced NMS features provide constant
monitoring of physical cable connections,
identifying discontinuities and short-circuits
immediately and determining the approximate
distance to the failure point.
The DMSwitch 2104G EDD enables the
simultaneous use of the 4096 VLANs defined
in the IEEE standard 802.1q with double
tagging (Q-in-Q) features necessary for the
implementation of TLS-Transparent LAN
Services.
Centralized management is provided via the
DMView NMS over Windows and/or Solaris
platforms with integration capabilities for HP
OpenView NNM. Various additional tools are
available for network, infrastructure, cabling
diagnostics, port and packet flow monitoring,
and port-specific traffic redirection.

The DMSwitch 2104G has 4 queues per port

with prioritization algorithms permitting priority
assignment for specific data flow, queue weight
configuration, minimal data rate forwarding or
any combination of the above. Classification
can be done per port or according to IEEE
802.1p or DSCP. Bandwidth control allows
for definition of CIR-Committed Information
Rate and PIR-Peak Information Rate and can
be applied to incoming or outcoming traffic at
each port.
The DMSwitch 2104G is also available with
an E1 port (DMSwitch2000-E1) in addition
to the Ethernet port supporting TDM circuit
emulation* over the Metro Ethernet Network.
