Question to be
solved:

Can bamboo poles be

used as an adequate and
sustainable construction
material to help in the
reconstruction of houses
and other infrastructure
in Haiti?

ACT 24 protocol

Bamboo, No. 3 rebar, 14 gauge wire, and

mortar are very effective materials for the
typical connections necessary our Haitian
home.
All materials are affordable, readily available,
and safe to build with.
Controlled failure modes in steel components
allow for inconsistencies in bamboo and open
door to standardize bamboo poles as a
reliable building material.
