Statement of the problem
To increase market share of SMC in pneumatic product sales.
Methodology used
Methodologies used in my project for research are as following:
(A) Primary
Market Survey: - Being a Jr. Area Sales Manager in SMC, I have survey market, visited
our clients and our competitors client and fill up the questionnaire.
Top Management Assistance: - I have deeply discussed with my seniors and top
management, especially my Area Sales Manager Mr. Sajag Sharma,
(B) Secondary
1. Books, Newspaper: -While doing my project research I continuously read lots of
books and had updated myself by reading daily newspaper.
2. Online Help:-I have thoroughly searched the Internet about both companies in
detail and gathered lots of information by it.
Main Strategies to increase market share of SMC
1. Expotainer Van: Its a product demonstration van, which has all the products of
SMC demonstrated in van, and it roams in entire NCR to make understand customers
more about products and Its application under one roof.
2. Partially automated and not automated customer has been targeted and converted in
to SMC customer.
3. Electrical and Hydraulic automated system user has been targeted for SMC hydraulic
products and electrical actuators.
4. Customer who feels automation in their company has plays an important role to
increase their revenue and quality of product has been targeted and new automation
technique has been implemented in their plant by SMC.

5.SMC agrees to give special discount to competitor customer and convert them in
to SMC customer.
6. Prompt response on customer complaint has been monitor and complaint
resolving time has been reduced.
7. Awareness for SMC Audit program among customer has been increase by
conducting seminars at customer end.
8. Number of Sales Engineer and Dealer has been increased to improve customer
support.
9. Stock of fast moving product has been increased to increase availability of
product in our and dealers stores.
10. SMC has good customer base in automotive hence packaging segment has
been target to increased market share.
11. Small Companies has been targeted and awareness regarding automation has
been given to them through seminars and Free Automation Training.
12. Desktop Planner, Greeting cards has been sent to customer to increase brand
value and customer relationship.

Conclusion
As our Analysis ,SMC and Festo both are highly renowned and repudiated
companies. Companies have fought a lot to capture a major market share.
Both companies has efficient and effective marketing strategies. But SMC has
shown a tremendous growth due to its strategies. Its growth path is increasing but
that has to be maintain and for that they need to maintain their existing customer
base and Increase market share by new customer development.
