TABLE OF CONTENTS

This new dimension of TRENDS is uniquely designed to


develop and advance aspiring nurse speakers. Before the
upcoming fall conference, a SePA Star Search call for
abstracts will be solicited and the submission will be
blinded and peer reviewed by the TRENDS planning
committee. Six abstracts will be chosen and the authors
will be invited to attend and participate during an optional
lunchtime session at this years TRENDS conference
held on Friday, October 9th from 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM.
Registration costs will be incurred by the participants.

Clareen is associate
professor in the School of
Nursing at UVA and
coordinator of the ACNP
program. She has also
served a three-year term
as a director on the (AACN) board of directors
from 20112014, as well as, a one-year term
as director on the AACN Certification
Corporation Board (2014). Wiencek brings
to the board more than 35 years of experience as a staff nurse, nurse manager and
researcher. A recipient of AACNs 2010 Circle
of Excellence Award, Wiencek served on
AACNs Chapter Advisory Team from 2006
2010, the Evidence-Based Practice Resource
Work Group in 20102011 and the Nominating Committee in 20112012. She currently
is a member of AACNs Greater Richmond
Chapter and an AACN ambassador. Wiencek
has been a frequent contributor to AACNs
peer-reviewed journals and a presenter at
AACNs National Teaching Institute and
Critical Care Exposition.

Tracy establishes and


facilitates the Standards of
Nursing Practice at Virtua,
and provides the vision
for patient care practice
across the population served by Virtua. Tracy
coordinates nursing strategy and goals to
reach organizational success to deliver outstanding customer experience and excellent
quality. This includes partnering with physician
leadership and other senior leaders to ensure
system-wide intra-professional teamwork.
As CNO, Tracy has formalized the Magnet
journey objectives for the organization and
under her leadership established nursing
research resources for the organization. She
has mentored and supported nurses across
the organization in shared governance. She
has established a nursing tag line, the VirtuaNurse and started a log shop where proceeds
benefit the nursing scholarship fund. Her work
with the philanthropy has yielded donations
for the first Virtua Learning Lab for clinicians
to practice and learn clinical techniques and
procedures.

Charles Kunkle is
the Director of
Emergency and Critical
Care Services at
St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne,
Pennsylvania. He has over 20 years
experience as a nurse and has held multiple
positions in emergency medicine, pre-hospital
emergency medical services, cardiothoracic
intensive care units and honed his skills over
the years practicing as a flight nurse. Kunkle
is a motivational speaker who captivates the
audience discussing topics such as violence
in healthcare, leadership, patient satisfaction,
employee engagement and patient centered
care. Kunkles varied experiences in
healthcare has enhanced his understanding
of the Affordable Care Act. As it takes effect,
nurses are left wondering how it will impact
their care. In his informative and energetic
style, Charles Kunkle will share his knowledge
of the Affordable Care Act from a nursing
perspective.

Al Rundio has held various faculty positions in


Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has taught
across the curriculum in BSN Programs and
Graduate Nursing Programs. An experienced
clinician, administrator, and educator, Rundio
is the former Vice President of Nursing at
Shore Memorial Hospital (now Shore
Medical Center), Somers Point, New Jersey.
An avid and active regional faculty member
of the American Heart Association, Rundio
has served as Vice Chair of the Emergency
Cardiovascular Care Committee, New Jersey
Region and the immediate past National
ACLS Faculty Representative, New Jersey
Region. He served as President of the
International Nurses Society on Addictions
(IntNSA) in 2012/2013 and currently practices
part-time in a chemical dependency treatment
center in southern New Jersey.

Tuesday, October 6

This track was newly added based on feedback from our members and participants in
our educational offerings. Care of the trauma
patient and trends in the management will be
discussed. Also, trauma credit will be shown
on the certificate of attendance for those
requirements for mandatory trauma contact
hours for certification.

Thursday, October 8, 2015

This track is for nurse practitioners, clinical


nurse specialists, and other advanced
practice nurses who prescribe medications.
It is also an excellent source for front-line
nurses wishing to know more about the
medications they administer. Pharmacology
credit will be shown on the certificate of
attendance for those attending these
sessions. This track is intended to assist
Advance Practice Nurses to obtain
requirements for mandatory pharmacology
contact hours for certification.

HIGH ACUITY MED-SURG


TRACK
Wednesday, October 7

This track is intended for those med-surg


nurses working in high acuity areas nurses
who often receive patients transferred from the
ICU still needing much of the same complex
care. Most sessions on this day are designed
to meet the educational needs of both high
acuity med-surg nurses as well as critical care
and progressive care nurses.

NEUROLOGIC-STROKE TRACK
Friday, October 9, 2015

This track will support the hours needed to


assist nurses to maintain their stroke
certification. This course will also provide
nurses working with patients with neurological
disturbances. The most current evidencedbased treatments will be discussed. Stroke
credits will be shown on the certificate of
attendance for the requirements for mandatory
stroke contact hours for certification.
