YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER - JESUS IS THE SAME!

Considering the changes that have taken place in our life over the past two-three years, or just
looking into this last year of world developments, one could say that enough has happened to com
pile a long life history! Yet, God in His wisdom gives us another year, 1992, to live and to serve Him.
Actually, GMRM with all of it ministries in Poland, Belarus (the new name for independent
Belorussia), the Ukraine and Russia finds itself in the midst of these monumental changes taking
place in Europe. Ten years ago it started with Poland, then it went through the rest of the communist
world, and today all of the "evil Soviet Empire" is disintegrating.
What does it mean? Where is it taking us? What will be the outcome of this political and econom
ical struggle? These are difficult questions and I believe that without God's help we will not resolve

them. However, as believing Christians we do know the final outcome of this spiritual struggle. Some
beautiful day Jesus will come again and, as the "Ruler of all creation," He will establish His longanticipated "new world order" that our politicians are now only talking about.
Friends, this is an exciting period in spreading the Gospel of Christ. Each day we are reaching
further into the world. Now it seems to be a true reality that, thanks to the advances of modern tech
nology and the dedication of many believers, the whole world will soon hear that true peace and sal
vation come only through Jesus, God's only Son.
We firmly believe that radio is one of these technical devices given to us by God so that we might
reach the goal of fulfilling the demands of God's great commission yet in this generation. Millions of
people who were once deprived of hearing the Gospel because of a communist regime can now hear
it freely. Our Christian programs are now broadcast over several radio stations in Poland. One local
radio station has been given to our disposal for daily 24-hour operation. Belarusian National Radio
has invited us to participate in providing weekly broadcasting of the Gospel. Soon similar local
arrangements will be made in the Ukraine. Working with local Christians, we are trying to develop a
network of Christian broadcasts in each of these countries. Of course, to accomplish all of this we
need much more help. We need more local qualified people who would prepare and broadcast these
programs. We need more funds and more prayer partners supporting us in this spiritual battle.
Lately we have been hearing much about economic relief programs to these former communist
countries. Our politicians and military are trying to save the deteriorating situation of the
Commonwealth of Independent States of the old Russian empire. But can an evil empire be changed
simply by material means? No. Recent years have provided us with many opportunities to see that it
is not a political or military struggle that make walls come down. We trust God. He sufficiently

assures us of the final victory. Meanwhile, we do ask you, dear friends, to help us. We need more
Bibles. We need more funds to sponsor local radio broadcasts. We need your prayers. 1992 will be a

crucial year in the spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of Europe. Therefore, we do not hesitate to
ask you now to please be involved.

Looking into our 1991 involvements we can definitely say that It was a veryfruitful year for Global
Missionary Radio Ministries. We completed it safely and debt-free. We managed to keep up with all
of our Belarusian, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian radio commitments. We even expanded some of

our broadcast outreach by adding three local stations. We sent many Bibles and Christian books to
churches and individuals throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States. Betweenthree of our
missionarieswe jointly spent over eight months of our time preaching, teaching and working on differ
ent radio projects in each country of our involvement. We were happy to see the beginning of the
development of a major church project, with our mission involvement, in Minsk, Belarus the build
ing of a Christian nursing home. In Ostruda, Poland, we were happy to see the completion of the
Memorial Chapel-Barn at our Christian Youth Camp.
This is the new direction of our mission involvement for this year and for the future. Since there is

more freedom and opportunities for Christians in each one of these countries, we would like to work
as close as possible with local churches, involving more local Christians in our radio and follow-up
ministry, thus working together with them in spreading the Gospel.
From our observation, people in these countries are now very responsive to the Gospel.
Churches are growing. If we could only help them with some leadership, more resources, adequate
equipment and even better facilities, then the work would explode in an even greater way. In this
respect we are ready to assist them and we look forward optimistically to the future, for we know Who
holds it!

THE WARSAW CHURCH CHALLENGE

Last year we spent a considerable amount of time with the Pulawska Street Church in Warsaw,
Poland. This church houses one of our recording studios and is the very heart of our missionary out
reach to East Europe. This is a very special congregation to us.

Many of our North American friends have visited this group of believers and discovered their
enthusiazm for reaching the lost for Christ. The Pulawska Street Church has always been a very hos
pitable and mission-minded congregation. I remember how during the years of communist oppres
sion this church served as a stronghold of faith and a source of encouragement to others. During this
time I personally worked with this congregation as youth leader, evangelist, then later, as an assis
tant to the pastor. At that time, with the substantial help of this congregation, we were able.to start a
new camp and youth ministry in Poland. Afew years later, throughthe initiative of this congregation's
leadership, the Correspondence Bible Seminary came into being. Then, during the early stages of
the economic crises in the 1980's, this church led a large benevolent effort throughout Poland. Three
years ago, under the skillful leadership of their minister, Andrew Bajenski, a new initiative was start
ed, an evangelistic outreach to unchurched communities surrounding Warsaw. Twenty-one weeks of
evangelistic tent meetings were conducted in twenty-one different communities. As a result of this
effort, five new home churches have since been established and many good contacts have been left
in each of these places for continued personal evangelism. During 1991 this group of believers, with
its home church outreach, has grown in number by 60 members.

IM

At home base in Warsaw this group of over 250

believers meets each Sunday and many times

hli

throughout the week in their extremely overcrowded

chapel on Pulawska Street. The church is unique in
that it is composed mostly of new believers. Seventy

five percent of the members are young people. Many

of them are students, thus, without employment and

without strong Christian family background.

)cfj

Perhaps some of you remember from our previpublications that this church is now going through

3building program. They are enlarging their present

chapel facility located in a very crowded, old apart-

" /ns/de of unfinished chapel in Warsaw

send them over $10,000 from designated church and

building. Last year we were happy to be able to

individual contributions for this project. Combining all of their own raised finances with contributions

given by others, the believers were able to lay the foundation, build the walls and enclose the new
chapel with a roof just before the arrival of winter. Much of the construction work was done by the
Individual members . Now construction has had to stop due to lack of funds and high inflation in
Poland.

We of GMRM recommend this project as one that is worthy of our and your support. We see

great potential for the spread of the Gospel throughout Poland from this congregation. We told the
church's leadership that we will do all we can to assist them and promote this project among our
friends back in Canada and the USA. Dear friends, will you kindly consider the possibility of helping

these hard-working Christians of the Pulawska Street Church in their present need.
To complete this Warsaw Church project the following Is needed:
1) approximately $65,000 for the construction of the building
2) a new heating and ventilation system

(the chapel is located between two walls of other buildings, thus making the installation
of windows an impossibility)

3) 400 chairs, a musical instrument (preferably an organ) and a public address system
Friends, it is certain that, on their own. the Warsaw congregation will not be able to complete this

tremendous effort. It is heartening to know that the people themselves have raised a large portion of
funds for material and put many man-hours of labor in the building's construction. They have done
and will do what they can. But they need further assistance-to see this project to its completion. We
recently received a long letter of appreciation from the church's eldership for all help and encour
agement that has been given them throughout the years. At the same time they ask us to urgently
help them in this time of economic crises. We prayerfully pass this challenge on to you, our friends
and supporters. We feel that we cannot allow for such an energetic witness for Christ to be dimin
ished. If you feel so led of the Lord, do send in your contribution for this Warsaw Church project. We
are including a card that you may fill out and send in with yourcontribution. Or. if you cannot send in
a contribution for this project at this time, please indicate on the enclosed card your willingness to
send it at a later date. This will mean so much to our Christian friends of the Pulawska Street Church
and to all of us. May God bless you for your generosity.

BROADCASTING THE GOSPEL LOCALLY!

To be broadcasting Christian programs in the Soviet Union? Who would have thought that possi
ble a couple of years ago? But today it is possible. Just imagine, for years we all prayed for Russia
and its allies to open up to the spread of the Gospel of Christ. And it happened. In fact, it happened
so quickly that, at first, we did not know how to handle this new set of circumstances. Those of us

who have lived in the West for a long time used the medium of shortwave radio as a main means of
breaking through that East European "iron curtain." But today all of that has changed. We can
arrange for the broadcasting of Christian programs over local stations throughout Russia, Belarus,
Ukraine, Poland or any of the bygone "satellite" countries.
As God opens before us new opportunities for our greater involvement in those countries, we
know that it will not be easy, but the t^attle is not ours. Often we say it is our ministry for we are direct
ly involved in it. The truth of the matter is that God himself is even more interested that the Gospel be
preached in those places. Thus, it is not just our ministry. It is his ministry. We are only his spokes
men as we represent the Lord Jesus to others.

Here in our Toronto GMRM office there are only three of us involved in broadcasting the Gospel
message, but in Europe, where communism previously ruled over 300 million souls, people hunger
for nutritious spiritual food that will feed their starved souls and satisfy their craving for meaningful

spiritual values. This is an overwhelming task and we cannot accomplish it alone. We need more
people, more sponsors and more finances.

In Poland we began expanding this ministry about two years ago. We helped estabtish two small
recording studios one in the Gdansk church building, the other in the Warsaw church building.
This is the place where George Bajenski spends part of his time when he is in Poland.Thu far we
were able to motivate and set apart two Christian men who are dedicated to this ministry. Ryszard
Kobus, a son of a local minister in the Gdansk church, and another young man from the Warsaw
church, Jacek Slaby, who recently acquired a Master of Arts degree in Communications from Regent
University in the USA. There are other individuals and local pastors who help us in producing a vari
ety of quality Christian programs in the Polish language. These broadcasts are placed on various
local radio stations within Poland. At the present time these programs are heard in Warsaw, Gdansk,
Bialystok and Wroclaw.
One project that still needs further development is Radio Ostruda, or as it is now known,
"Christian Radio 'l\/lazury'." When this station will be in full operation, it will become the first evangeli
cal Christian radio station in Poland and in all of East Europe. We have received all permits and most

of the transmitting equipment is in place. What is needed now is more workers and, of course, more
finances to operate it. We could still use 5 more Christian workers, technicians, reporters who would
work with us on a full-time basis in Poland. We could find them, but we need to support them also. At
the present time it takes a minimum of $300 monthly support in Poland. We would appreciate very
much your partnership and help in this need.
But let's now get back to Gospel broadcasting in the republics of today's Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) that replaced the USSR. What is GMRM doing in this part of the world?
During George Bajenski's recent trip to the Republic of Belarus in December of 1991, he met with
one broadcaster from the state-owned radio station in Miensk (the Belarusian form of "Minsk"). This
radio worker knows the Christians of the Miensk Church and, through them, he knows us. He stated
that he and the station management are willing to have GMRM send its Belarusian program. Good
News, weekly for broadcast over their republic's national network. We have already sent the first 2month supply of programs and expect that when you receive the Crier, the program will have been
launched from Miensk. It will cover the whole territory of Belarus. What an opportunity!

This program holds special appeal for two reasons. First, it carries and explains the Gospel mes
sage. All CIS states feel a great lack of teaching on true morality. The communist system failed mis
erably in providing such direction. In reality, it created a moral vacuum. Christian broadcasts and liter
ature are now beginning to fill this vacuum. Many officials in these states sense such a need and wel
come anything that alleviates their given lack. Second, the question of nationality has arisen in each
state, including Belarus. Hearing exposition of the Bible in Belarusian will be stimulating to many. The
program will undoubtedly hold great appeal to those who revere the Belarusian language highly.
Many such people could be atheists, agnostics or of another faith and will attentively listen simply
because the program is being conducted in a language cherished by them. We should add that
George and Jacob Repetski who preach on the program do not deal with questions of nationalism or
the Belarusian language. They proclaim nothing but the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that in
this venture we will gain many new listeners, including "casual" ones, because the program will come

through loudly and clearly over local stations. We hasten to add that this will not be free. GMRM must
pay the going rate of the day that should be in the area of $30 per broadcast. This amount can
change at any time and we expect that it will in the future. Another notable advantage is that letters of
response will be handled by local believers. They can follow up such new contacts and connect them
with local congregations for further instruction and spiritual nourishment. We believe that many will
accept Christ through this cooperative effort.
GMRM recently began sending the Good News program to one station in Poland. Many

Belarusians live in the city of Bialystok and in the surrounding region. They speak and teach the
Belarusian language in their local schools. Bialystok serves as their cultural centre in Poland today.
Brother Dmytr Wiazowski of Bielsk Podlaski very willingly agreed to distribute literature and visit peo
ple who respond to the program.

Anpther extremely important Slavic group that needs to hear the Gospel is the Ukrainian nation.
We hear in our news reports that the Ukraine has taken its independent stand on many issues in
talks with Russia and the rest of the CIS members. The Ukrainian language is making an even
stronger come-back than Belarusian in Belarus. Paul Diatel, our Ukrainian radio preacher, visited that
land during the spring of 1991. He established solid contacts with local believers in the Rovno and
Kovel areas. Steps have been taken to begin the broadcast of his Ukrainian program, Christ, the
Saviour of the World, on a local station. Some final details need to be worked out and will be conclud
ed in due course. With time local believers will participate with Brother Paul in the preparation and
broadcasting of the program.

You might be asking: but what about Russia? Is GMRM doing anything for the Russians? Yes, it
is. We continue to prepare and broadcast the On Wings of Thought program. For the most part, it dis
cusses apologetic themes for a populous that has been steeped in atheistic teaching and is only now
coming out of it. The program is broadcast from various shortwave stations, the most important of
which is on the island of Saipan in the Pacific Ocean. We are now actively searching for a Russian
preacher or preachers in one of the Slavic states of CIS who will become our co-worker(s) in the
preparation of messages for our Russian program. Russian is spoken widely and, thus, we will con

tinue broadcasting in this language. We would ask you to pray with us that we might find the right
person or persons that could take this as their particular work for the Lord. As we travel in the states
of CIS during this year, we will be on the lookout for such personnel. This will mean that GMRM must
only not broadcast their messages but also undergird them financially, at least to some extent.
Russian programs can be broadcast both on shortwave or local AM stations. We wish to arrange for
both.

As you can see, we use local Christians for broadcasting purposes more and more. We are using
local preachers to record their messages for our programs. Also, we are making arrangements for
singing groups to record Christian hymns in various studios, such as Trans World Radio's studio in
the Belarusian city of Brest. These, too, will be used in the programs that we ourselves produce or
will have produced by others. In the future local believers will become involved in the actual produc
tion of programs. As opportunities and finances allow, these programs will be broadcast over local
stations. This means that more local Christians will be doing the work itself and visiting those who
respond. GMRM must find people of God's choosing and provide them with proper electronic equip
ment for the job. It already has provided equipment for the studios in Poland. A substantial sum of
money was sent to Miensk for a radio studio. More personnel and equipment will be needed and we
will inform you about such necessities, as time rushes on.
We of GMRM look forward to maintaining our commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Christ by
means of radio, also by other means. Today we have concentrated on this one aspect of our total
outreach. We thank all who faithfully support us in this and other endeavors. We would wish to have
your continued support for this "towering" ministry. It is our conviction that some day in heaven many
will come and say 'lhank you" for the broadcasts. But we will then point such loved ones to the hun
dreds and thousands, like you, who are our faithful supporters and say: 'Thank them, for it was

through their dedication and partnership with us that you heard the message and responded to it."
And together we will worship and thank our Lord for giving us the ability and means to share his
Good News with those who needed to hear it. What a glorious day that will be. Thank you for caring!
Thank you for sharing!

Communism, as the leading and ruling political

but sin and Satan is quite freely romping over
the land enjoying this freedom to the fullest.
Greed and materialism, crime and immorality,
religiosity instead of Christ and true religion Is
blooming. Intolerance and ethnic strife is rising.
I would even say that if things will continue
developing in this direction, soon Christians
could be singled out as an undesirable influ

As GMRM's mission involvement in the life

One exciting development in relation to this
"Warsaw Church Challenge" happened a couple
of months ago. In response to our initial

summer about one thousand children and

young people from all over Poland took part in

children from Belarus and the Ukraine for

whom, thanks to your contributions, we were

able to provide sponsorship for their coming to
the camp and participating in its program. This
summer we will be spending a considerable
amount of time teaching and preaching at this
camp. We are also looking forward to the arrival
of a group of young people from churches in
Ohio to take part in a project of the Ostruda
Camp this summer.
All that I can say just now is thank you, dear
friends, for making all of this and much more
possible. Continue to remember us in your
prayers throughout the summer months.

February 16th of this year fell on a Sunday.

Itwas three years to the day of Benjamin's acci

special service held at Steeple Hill Community
Church in Pickering, Ontario, not far from where
we used to live. During this service eight per
sons who previously committed their life to
Jesus were baptized. Truly itwas a 'Happy Day'

One of the persons baptized on this Sunday

was Erin, a good friend of Ben, a 12th grade
student at O'Neill School for the Performing

Arts. As Erin stepped into the water, followed by

her mother to also be baptized, she shared a
testimony of her faith. Her simple yet inspiring
words brought tears of joy to many eyes. Erin
said: "...I thought I had everything going for me

in life good parents, a terrific brother, big

home, clothes, friends, pets, etc., but then I met
Ben who was very different and had something
special that I wanted." Benjamin was unique. As
others said, he was a "Contemporary Christian."
Although his life with us was so short, it was not
waisted. God can use the little seed as it falls

into the ground and dies to produce many for

His glory. Praise the LordI John 12:24.

RUSSIA AND BELARUS REVISITED

Dear Christian friends, we wish to thank
those of you who faithfully pray and support
us in our many-faceted ministries. I would like

to take this opportunity to relate to you some

of my experiences while traveling recently In
Russia and Belarus.

A YOUNG VETERAN OF AFGHANISTAN

My trip started with a very lively dis

Testament, gave him a copy of one and pre

sented him with Gospel tracts explaining how
he can find God and live for him. During the
trip he met someone in the corridor selling
bottles of vodka and bought one for himself.
Perhaps, to be polite he Invited me to join him
and, when I declined his offer, he went out

and drank the whole thing. By the time he

returned to the compartment, it was obvious

cussion on the train that took me from War

that he was well under its influence. As we

saw, Poland, to Minsk, Belarus. A young

Belarusian sat In my compartment and we
talked most of the trip. He works in Warsaw
and was now returning to his family in Minsk

came up to Minsk, I told him that within a cou

ple of days I would be translating sermons into
Russian to be given by a Korean preacher

for a short visit. Once he discovered that I am

a Christian worker, he immediately began to

discuss religious questions. I learned that, as
an 18-year old boy, he was drafted into the
Soviet Army and sent on a mission into

from Seoul, Korea. I gave him the details of

our two evangelistic meetings which were to
take place in one of the theatres of Minsk. I
never thought any of that information would
really register in the young man's mind. but. to

Afghanistan. He saw fighting and was forced

to shoot people that he did not want to. The
weight of that action lays heavily on his mind
and heart. Although, as he stated, he did not
really believe in the existence of a loving God,
he wondered whether God would forgive him
for shooting others. I assured him that God
can and will if he but confess and ask for his

forgiveness.
"No. that just can't be; it's too simple. And,

anyhow, 1 don't believe that God really exists

anyways. That's how I was taught."
I encouraged him to read the New

my greatest surprise, he, his wife and young

son came to the second meeting and heard

the preaching of God's Word. I pray that the

message that he and his family heard that
night will have had its full effect. This showed
me that many, like this young man, are seek

ing God but don't know where and to whom to

turn for help and instruction. What a wideopen mission field exists in all of the CIS
states!

WITH OUR KOREAN FRIENDS

Having arrived in Minsk, I immediately had

to take another train to Moscow. This was for

the purpose of meeting our Korean Christian

friends from Seoul, Korea. We did, in fact,
meet them and flew back to Minsk for a few

days. Two evangelistic meetings were sched

uled with them and Brother Sam Hwan Kim as

the principle speaker. Our friends from the

Minsk Church participated in various ways.
They sold Christian books, handed out por

first. The doubling in cost has come about as

a result of the Belarusian government raising
the prices of goods and services.
The Belarusian government had also
imposed a new 28% tax on businesses,
including church projects. Because our
Korean friends had sent humanitarian help In
the past, they were able to visit the mayor of
Minsk and the second in command after the

tions of the Bible to those who came to

president of the republic. I served as translator

observe and listen and their church choir pre

sented an excellent concert of Christian songs

amiable. The Belarusian officials thanked the

prior to the preaching of God's Word. The

presence of God's power in convicting men
and women was keenly felt as scores

responded to the invitation to come forward to

express repentance and their desire to follow
in the footsteps of Christ. Our fellow brethren
in Minsk are now following up these new con
verts to Christ to establish them in the faith.

Our Christian friends in Minsk have begun

to build a senior citizens' home and the
Korean believers were informed of the

project's latest developments. One bit of infor

mation that leaves a person sort of wondering
is the fact that in mid-April the cost of the pro
ject went up exactly double from 70 million
rubles to 140 million. Our brethren will have to

seek various sources to complete the project.

I believe that it will be completed but it will

require much more time than planned in at

in both instances. Our talks were polite and

Korean group for their interest and special aid

for humanitarian causes. Brother Kim request
ed that the government seriously consider
cancelling the new tax on the church's senior
citizens' building project. The government
administrators promised to give serious atten
tion to this request.
From Minsk I flew with the group to St.
Petersburg (formerly Leningrad). During our
flight to Leningrad I sat beside a Russian pro
fessional engineer who is working in the forest

industry located in the Russian tundra. Our

discussion centered around spiritual matters. I
am amazed at the willingness of the Russians
to talk about God, Christ and the Bible. What
a change from years gone by. and that is not
all that long ago. My traveling partner listened
to me attentively as I spoke of the Gospel and
Christ's power in the life of the believer. He

concluded by stating that he must give more

critical thought to the Gospel but to accept it at
this time would be too early. After all, for many
years he had been steeped In atheism and
that fact had its toll. I left him with Christian

tracts. Pray for him that he may continue to

seek the Lord and find him.

While in St. Petersburg I was again privi

leged to sen/e as translator for Brother Kim. I
should add that he preached in Korean and
our friend from the USA, Andrew Lee, translat

ed into English. I then translated from English

into Russian. The Koreans have a Korean-

Russian church now operating in St.

Petersburg and it is growing. Many who came
to the services indicated their desire to follow

Christ. We witnessed again the Lord working

in the hearts of searching souls. I was privi
leged to visit with our evangelical brethren in
another church in St. Petersburg and cele
brate Easter together with them. During the
course of their services people kept coming
forward for their expression of repentance and
acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior
and Lord. This happens constantly in many
congregations in Russia these days.
RETURN TO BELARUS

Following my stay in St. Petersburg I

returned to Minsk by overnight train. My trav

eling partner In the compartment again proved

to be both interesting and challenging. Yes,
we did talk of the Lord. This time he turned out

to be a Russian entrepreneur trying to get a

business into swing together with his commer
cial partners. I shared the Gospel with him
and suggested that he should give serious
consideration to his relationship with Jesus
Christ. He agreed with me that he should do
something about that but at the moment he
did not have enough time for such matters. I
got him to read John 3:36 which speaks of
God's wrath abiding upon those who do not
believe and obey Christ.

HANDING OUT LITERATURE PRIOR TO

EVANGELISTIC MEETING, MINSK, BELARUS

"God's wrath abiding on me!" he blurted

out, "That's unfair. Why should God's wrath
abide on me when I don't even know anything
about him!"

"You wanted a reason for taking care of

this matter, I've just given you one," I retorted.
"What assurance do you have that you'll live
to retirement age and then start thinking about
spiritual matters?"

I left the gentleman with Christian tracts

as an ongoing reminder to him to take care of
the question of his personal salvation. Here
we have another individual in need of your
prayers, dear friends.
While in Minsk, I visited the offices of the
Belarusian National Radio Network. I spoke
with the head editor about the possibility of

having our Belarusian Good News aired over

their republic's radio network. In a word, their
reaction was very positive. Their price, howev
er, was too steep and I left telling them that I
will contact them about a counter proposal.
Since that time they have agreed to sell us
radio time for $5 (US) a minute for the broad
casting of a 10-minute program from us. This
is effective September 1. Praise the Lord!

The Bajenskis in Europe

George and Vera Bajenski are presently

in Poland conducting and assisting in various
ministries. Much of their time is being devoted
to visiting congregations throughout the coun
try. This includes involvement in the church
services, but also they are visiting with
Christians In their private homes. This has
taken them to larger cities and many smaller
villages. Just recently George and Vera visit
ed with the elderly in the Ostruda Senior
Citizens' Home and reported that this proved
to be a most pleasant and blessed time both
for them and the people in the home.
A week was spent in Germany for mission
purposes. While being there, they bought two
keyboards for Christians in the CIS. This was
done upon request from Christians in that
country. George and Vera will be in Belarus in
August and will take these instruments for a
couple of churches. George will also be trav
eling with preachers from America in

September. While in Poland the Bajenskis will

purchase needed foodstuffs for Belarus which

will, in due course, be picked up by our

brethren from there.

Please remember them in your prayers.

We thank you sincerely for your continued
prayer and financial support of us all during
the summer months.

It is true that 1992 was unprecedented in

all of its political and economic changes and
in its outburst of religious life in Central and
East Europe. This especially became evident
in the new independent states of the old So
viet Empire. We have personally participated
and witnessed the preaching of the gospel in
many church buildings, parks, schools, pri
sons, theaters and sport arenas. We have
witnessed throughout the year hundreds of

people repenting, accepting the Lord and

being baptized. It seems now after long

from the Lord, for the days in which we live

are not necessarily called good days by
Scripture. The Lord Himself warns us about
deception of the last days (Matthew 24) and
Paul also writes this so beautifully in his let
ter: "Dear brothers, you are not in the dark...
For you are all children of the light and of the
day and do not belong to darkness and night,
so be on your guard not asleep like others.
Watch for His return and stay sober."

wants to be a Christian!

Just this week a Toronto newspaper car

ried an article, "Soviet Honcho Gets Reli

gion." It was a short report of the conversion

and baptism of Eduard Shevardnadze, the
last significant foreign minister of the Soviet
Union. Or a recent news update of a familiar
western Christian organization announcing
the establishment of the "first baptistry manu

facturing plant in the history of the Soviet

Union" in Russia. Daily we hear some new
and exciting, often disturbing, news from
abroad.

So, ending this year we want to say with

rejoicing, we thank God for His faithfulness,
power and love revealed to us in this genera
tion. We praise Him for all good that hap
pens, but at the same time we approach
these developments with some caution. Not
all that takes place under this new freedom
and general heading of spiritual revival is
necessarily good! Working closely with local
Christians in these countries we are aware of

how widely the seeds of materialism, strife,

division and "non-scriptural Christianity" are
being introduced to these vulnerable and
spiritually hungry people.
Therefore, we pray for spiritual stability in
our lives and in the lives of all those people
